The host was exceptionally patient during a glitch in my account. Also allowed for an early arrival to drop off bags before check, and a later check out (noon) is unusual for VRBO in my experience. Cozy space that utilizes the area well, especially for one person for several nights. Better than anticipated, and couldn't have asked for more, especially for the price.

Great stay convenient to Albany Capital Center!
I was in town for a conference and was looking for an affordable place to stay within walking distance to the venue. Earl’s place was a great find. It is a historic building, built in 1815, and the loft apartment I stayed in had cool wooden beams and exposed brick from the original construction. Earl has updated the apartment and furnished it to feel contemporary and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable, and there was no shortage of hot water! Earl was very communicative and self check in was easy. Very nice stay.
Clean spot. Neighborhood not as spooky as others day. You have to go up 2 flights of steps for anyone with disabilities. The spot feels like a little cabin with the wood accents.
We were in town for a short visit at the MVP arena. This loft space was an easy walk to the arena. The space was exactly as described and easy to use. Earl was incredibly responsive and helpful. We had a blast staying in this super cool, yet quirky space. We will definitely consider returning.
We try to be as transparent as possible to set the right expectations. What amenities in particular did I have in my listing that you were expecting but were not available when you arrived? You also noted it was "Riot Central" while you were there and I'm sorry that I cannot dictate when a Black Lives Matter protest is and is not, but I watched the live stream and they were at least two blocks away and never got close enough to the property to affect any of our guests in the building.

The property manager was easy to get ahold of for questions. The property has stairs - no elevators. Property is a 5 min walk to MVP Arena. Has online metered parking - very reasonable pricing. Unit has digital locks for entry and apartment doors, small fridge, microwave, hot plate unit, basic kitchenware, towels and bedding. Close to on-ramps so can be a bit loud - but I was never bothered by it. Would definitely stay here again if I go back to MVP Arena.
The property owner here is on the ball and made sure I knew how to get in with ease. He nicely set up some unexpected gene’s including snack food and some cereal if I wished to partake. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner were in the shower in a dispenser. Thanks for a new stay.

Clean, comfortable and very convenient location. Earl was very responsive to my numerous questions and even dealt with a scheduling snafu (on my end). I was concerned we might have trouble parking, due to a big concert just blocks away but we had no issues parking just down the street. Parking was free overnight, I only had to pay for 2 hours worth of parking in the morning because we didn’t want to rush out and it was very inexpensive. I would definitely stay here again if I was going to another event in the area.
For the price this was a great place to stay for the one night I stayed. It was a bit small and had simple accomodations but was more than enough to be comfortable, and it was like one block away from the MVP Arena so it was very convenient for the event I was attending. The only issue that I ran into was that it was very hot when I stayed here, but I didn't realize that the air conditioner was controlled by a light switch on the wall. I probably could have messaged the owner and found out but I just left it alone and had to be hot. It would be good for future guests if the owner either labelled the light switch or included that information in the instructions that were sent over before hand.

Adequate shelter but a bit weird
The area was a bit sketchy looking but seemed quiet actually. However, there was not one wall that was square! Even the sky light was crooked! You have to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to this place. It was 15 degrees out and the heat was set at 67. We couldn't figure out how to change it so we were cold. AC, if needed, is provided by 2 portable units. Cooking is by hot plate or microwave. No stove. Very small portable fridge. The ceiling over the beds is slanted so watch your head. The bed was comfortable enough however. There are no curtains on the windows. We couldn't figure out how to turn the TV on. It really was like sleeping in an attic. You can probably do better somewhere else.

This is a unique spot on the top floor. Immaculate with a bedroom and a separate bed in the living room. Great shower. Very convenient to the interstates and easy access with key codes. Excellent communication with the host. I would definitely stay here again.

A third floor place with character…for sure.
My mama said if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything…
Be aware that check in isn’t until 5pm…
Great loft apartment. Very cool attic space that was altered to provide privacy for the bedroom. Awesome location- we walked to Times Union in less than 10 minutes with a slow walker in our party. We loved it! It’s a unique spot!

I grew up in Cebu, Philippines and moved to New York when I was ten years old. After living around the Capital Region through grade school, I moved to New York City to study Computer Engineering at NYU. Since graduating, I've worked in video production, higher education, and engineering. I love traveling on small budgets (with the help of award travel with credit card points and miles), and I have a passion for technology, real estate investment, and entrepreneurship.
Why they chose this property
My family and I have lived in the Capital Region of New York since we emigrated from the Philippines. My partners and I bought this property late 2018 because it was in excellent condition in a prime location within walking distance and public transit to all of the prime work and tourist destinations in Albany.
What makes this property unique
The attic loft suite has been described by prior guests as a "cabin-in-the-woods" in the heart of Downtown Albany. This spare unit makes for a great HomeAway™ from home, and has plenty of metered street parking in front.
