Great location. Apartment was perfect for our needs. Two bedrooms and a seeper sofa
We want to thank the host. Nice apartment. Great location near our Rotary Conference and easy to access. The tub was not available for a bath but that was the only thing.
I was very happy with the accommodations. The apartment was just as described, clean and nice and quiet. The bed was super confy and host even checked in with me after the first night to make sure I was happy. Would definitely stay again.
The check in process was super easy and it was easy to find parking as well. The space was clean and organized. There were a few broken blinds but nothing too crazy. The location is near a busy thruway but the sound didn’t bother us. Only bad thing I can say is the upstairs neighbors don’t respect the quiet time hours. They came home stomping and being super loud at 0330 and kept making tons of noise until about 0500. Other than that, the stay was great and whenever we return to the area we would love to stay at Earls property again.
The couch was well used the fold out bed was broken and mattress looked older then couch. Raggedy
It was beautiful place clean floor but furniture was really used can’t even say it came from second hand store.

Responsive host but drawbacks remain
Earl is a responsive host, and I believe that he wants to make the place and your stay here as good as possible. Given that, I'm sorry not to write a more positive review. First of all, the plastic mattress covers make sleeping tough. The sheet slips around on them and the plastic makes the bed hot and clammy. Second, we did not realize that the larger bedroom would have three steps down to the bathroom. That is hard if you get up in the night. There is another bedroom on the bathroom level, but the bed flush against the wall makes getting up at night from there hard, too. Third, the kitchen is adequate, but the oven and refrigerator need a good washing. So do the walls and garbage can. Right now, there is a dingy feeling, but I think Earl will take care of that for future guests. On the plus side, entry was easy. Earl's directions were fine. The bathroom is clean. Having two sinks was great.
As for the location, it is not quiet. There are loud noises from neighbors outside of the building. There's nothing Earl can do about that, but the listing claims a quiet neighborhood. It is not. The building is historic, and that's fun. It's an easy walk up the hill to the parks and museums. And you're right next to 787 with easy access out of Albany to other places of interest in the area.

Hi Rachel, thank you for your honest and valuable feedback. I apologize about any neighbors or other folks outside at the time causing you to not have a quiet and enjoyable stay. Your points about the steps in the hallway down to the bathroom is duly noted. We have taken care of the appliance deep cleaning at this point as well. As for the waterproof bedbug-proof mattress protectors, those have to stay on for the safety and cleanliness of all guests. It's a two-layer soft cloth-like feel on top made of polyester, and polyethylene underneath for waterproofing. We do wash it regularly as well. We have upgraded our bedsheets so that guests are less likely to feel the mattress protector. Thank you for your helpful detailed review!

Didn't have hot water for a day and shower never got hot even after fix, advertised washer/dryer was out of order, minimally/oddly equipped kitchen (no drying rack, but really nice coffepot, for example). BUT place/sheets/fridge etc were clean, TVs in every room, and didn't see any bugs or anything. Other than no hot water and w/d, I'd be willing to say this would be good for younger people but if you're a little older or have a young kid, maybe not for you.
Merci beaucoup

"No expense is spared in sparing any expense"
The neigborhood is not great. The real issues are that it isn't very clean or kept up. There are cabinet fronts missing in the kitchen, no batteries in the tv remotes, cracked and dirty grouting, water stains on the ceiling of the master bedroom, sheets that feel like low grade sand paper. The sparcity is disturbing. What was truly annoying was the steps to the property were covered in snow and ice. The building seems to be 100% rent out and I had to contact the property owner at 2 AM to get the people above to quiet down. The only reason we had rented this property was because of the foosball table, fortunately, that worked.

Katherine arrived and told me "It is just what we expected." There are always batteries in the TV remotes unless the previous guest stole them, which I suspect happened. Nevertheless, I was never asked about them and this was never mentioned, and there are spare batteries in the kitchen drawers which I could've pointed to. I constantly asked if there's anything we can do before, during, and after their stay to make it more comfortable. NO RESPONSE whatsoever. I apologize we have such a popular place that it's 100% rented out.

Don’t come here.
As far as the property, it was exactly what it shows. Great area, nice apartment. However the host accused me of leaving spills everywhere and having ashes all over the house and said the place smelled of cigarettes. (I have asthma as does my brother who stayed with me) and he charged me extra. We sat outside for 30 minutes waiting for a response in 2° weather because we were locked out. Overall the place is nice, the host is a mess!

Laura's guests smoked in the property against our house rules. There's no other way for the apartment to smell pungently of cigarettes unless they smoked inside the unit. There were large spills of liquids and ashes on the footrest and dresser. They were also locked out due to a technical issue for only 5 minutes, not 30, according to my timestamps. Laura's group also tampered with my security devices and disconnected my noise monitor shortly after arrival. This review is retaliatory, even though as a courtesy I did in fact waive the charge nonetheless after messaging Laura about the issues.

I grew up in Cebu, Philippines and moved to New York when I was ten years old. After living around the Capital Region through grade school, I moved to New York City to study Computer Engineering at NYU. Since graduating, I've worked in video production, higher education, and engineering. I love traveling on small budgets (with the help of award travel with credit card points and miles), and I have a passion for technology, real estate investment, and entrepreneurship.
Why they chose this property
My family and I have lived in the Capital Region of New York since we emigrated from the Philippines. My partners and I bought this property late 2018 because it was in excellent condition in a prime location within walking distance and public transit to all of the prime work and tourist destinations in Albany.
What makes this property unique
This apartment has been described by prior guests as "right near downtown and had a cozy set up that gives off the feel of being at home". This spare unit makes for a great HomeAway™ from home, and has plenty of metered street parking in front, free during nights and weekends.
