Villa Suwani is a traditional Thai-style villa surrounded by lush tropical gardens offering full privacy in a wonderful quiet corner of Phuket.
The house is fully managed with daily housekeeping. Breakfast and other meals available on request.
Surrounded by nature and small villages, a local beach is a 5 min drive away, as are great restaurants and coffee shops.
This is true Thailand, yet just 25 mins from the airport and within easy reach of all the sights and scenes Phuket has to offer.
The Property:
Villa Suwani is our “home away from home”. We live in busy bustling Singapore with our two boys and a cat. In need of occasional escape, we recently bought our dream house in a quiet rural corner of Phuket. We spent some time modernizing and updating the house and now come here to unwind, escape to nature, enjoy great food, immerse ourselves in the amazing culture, get active and generally… to live the good life! When we’re not here, we rent out the house to friends and like-minded guests.
The house is a renovated traditional Thai villa with high vaulted roof, giving it a light and airy atmosphere. All spaces are on the ground floor. There is a large master bedroom suite with bathroom and a balcony overlooking our fruit trees. There are 2 further double bedrooms (which can be arranged as twins or doubles) and a shared bathroom. An open-plan living room gives out onto a large terrace and kitchen overlooking the fantastic pool.
The property is located at the end of a quiet road. The mature tropical gardens are over 3000 sqm, perfect for lazing away the afternoon or getting active with the kids, yet completely walled for safety and full privacy.
The villa is perfect for a large family or up to 3 couples sharing.
Interaction:
Throughout your stay you'll be looked after by our property manager. She will meet you on check-in and be on hand to answer any questions or help with transport, bookings or excursions.
Our housekeeper is at your disposal on a daily basis (except Sundays) from 8am to 5pm. Apart from tiding up, doing laundry and maintaining the property, she's available at an extra charge to make breakfast and other meals, babysit or do your grocery shopping.
Access to the property is via remote-controlled front gate to which you'll have a key. There is plenty of room to park one or more cars.
The neighborhood:
Villa Suwani is located in Ban Pa Klok in the north east of the island, and area which is quickly becoming Phuket's eco-tourism corner. It is definitely a quieter side of Phuket, popular with hikers, cyclists, wildlife and nature enthusiasts. Yet is only 25mins from the airport and within easy reach of Phuket's most famous scenes and sights.
In the immediate vicinity are two of Phuket’s best wildlife projects: The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project and the award-winning Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. The former is within walking distance from the villa and an absolute delight to visit in the early morning when you can hear these animals make their amazing morning calls. One of Phuket’s nicest waterfalls is further along the same trail. And for a walk among the mangroves, drive 5 minutes to the local beach. At low tide you can walk deep into the sea on the lookout for crabs and other mud creatures.
There are some fantastic local restaurants in the immediate area too. From waterfront seafood places very popular with the locals to a stunning eco eatery overlooking a lake with jungle backdrop. More upmarket restaurants are available in the chic Cape Yamu, just 10 minutes’ drive away. And if home roasted coffee is your thing, Phuket’s best coffee café is just a short drive away.
Close-by activities range from hiking in the rainforest, setting sail from Ao Po marina, playing a Jack Nicklaus-designed ocean golf course, quad biking through a rubber plantation and even ultralight flying at Phuket Airpark.
The villa is also ideally located to explore the Phang Nga Bay with its world-famous karst limestone islands. Join an organised tour or schedule your own boat trip from the nearby pier to visit these picturesque natural formations. Or take a daytrip from the same pier to visit the more secluded beaches of the nearby Yao Noi and Yao Yai islands.
Being on the east side of Phuket, the area is also safe from tsunami risk. But if its Indian Ocean beaches you’re after, they are just a 20 minutes’ drive west. The historic Phuket Town with its trendy coffee shops and eateries is a similar drive south.
Finally, the villa makes a great base for excursions further afield into mainland Thailand via the connecting bridge. Ao Phang-nga National Park is just an hour drive away, while 2.5 hours gets you to Khao Sok National Park and the oldest surviving rainforests on earth!
Getting Around:
As in most of Phuket, it’s best to hire a car to get around and get the most out of your holiday. Public transport is very poor and taxis not reliable nor readily available. And except in the main centers, pavements are hard to come by, making walking for any meaningful distance along main roads not very safe, especially with children. So, hiring a car is highly recommended but also quite affordable. And being on the quiet side of Phuket, traffic in the villa's vicinity is very light.
Alternatively, you can hire a driver with a minivan on a half- or full-day basis. We’ll be more than happy to help you arrange this as well as airport transfers.
