You get what you pay for.

It was a tool shed in the backyard of a house, literally. It was so small, I couldn’t sit down on the bed without hitting my head on the wall. It had a bunch of small appliances along outside wall and some didn’t work, 3 coffee makers. 2 AC units, one was on the floor with a large white tube duct taped out through a window. Full of spiders and webs. It SMELLED terrible of mildew and/or sewage. It was the cheapest room on the island for a reason.

Home was as described!

Very small, but we knew that going in. It was perfect for the two of us and our dogs. Close to everything on the main road of the island. The air conditioner works VERY well, which is always a concern of my husband's. Take plenty of bug spray!! Lots of bugs on the beach!!! We kayaked which I highly recommend! Once you get away from the beach, the bugs are almost nonexistent.

Great Little Island Nook

We only stayed here one night for a quick weekend trip, but this is a great little place. Communication with the owner prior to the trip was great. The location on the island is unbeatable, easily walkable to almost everywhere. The cottage is well kept, clean, neat and organized, not much larger than your average hotel room, but has all the amenities any reasonable person/family needs. Pets being allowed was a gigantic plus for us, as we travel with our chihuahua as much as possible. Check in and out were extremely easy and painless. We enjoyed it very much, even if for such a short stay. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer this trip. We'll hopefully remedy that next time! It was a great experience start to finish!

Convenient Little House

My husband and I stayed here for a night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is in walking distance of many great places. We really appreciated the stocked kitchen and that everything was ready to go for our stay. The property was exactly as described. The house is off of the road and behind houses, but it is easy to walk to the main strip of shops and restaurants. I really enjoyed the coffee shop next door! Absolutely a must! I was worried that the coffee shop would cause excess noise in the morning, but the house blocked out sound, which was awesome. I did take away a star because the website and the binder at the property had a different checkout time than what the property owner messaged me. I messaged to clarify the time and have yet to hear back. We left at the earlier time to be on the safe side. It definitely didn’t ruin our trip or the property for us, but it would have been nice to hear back.

The good: -Actually larger than expected. Good for couple, or small family, and they allow dogs.-Location is awesome. Right next door to Amarin coffee shop, which has amazing pastries. Almost everything but the beach within walking distance.-Nice little yard (unfenced)-Clean linens included -No real 'kitchen', but has fridge, sink, and usual appliances. The Not-so-good: -The shower is TINY. Like a small RV shower. It was almost, but not quite, impossible to use. Jokingly nicknamed it the NudeTube. -Definitely needs serious deep clean. Counters were sticky, dirt and dog hair in the corners, floors were sandy. Excessive multiple plug-in air fresheners in small space. Faint but noticeable smell of old dog pee if you turn the AC/air purifier off and open windows. Mold in shower. Cobwebs. -Water was shut off on 5th day of week long stay at around 5pm. Response from host was slow. Minimal troubleshooting. Offer of alternative accommodation/info came late that night, and we were not able to get in due to issue with lock. No reply from host until we were elsewhere for the night. Ended up staying with relatives for last two nights. Had to contact Vrbo for refund of last two nights.Overall, not a bad place if you don't mind some initial cleaning/structural imperfections/ can fit in shower. We were willing to overlook a lot because it was affordable, allowed dogs, and was centrally located, but the water issue was a huge inconvenience that could have been handled better.

Perfect for my needs. It was just me, taking a quick getaway to Chincoteague. Very cute, nothing fancy, but just as good as a hotel room. Can’t beat this for the price! I was really happy with it. Very good location - right near the bridge to view the sunset; walking distance to several shops & restaurants. It was just as pictured in the listing. The shower is pretty small, as mentioned in another review. Not an issue for me, but for a larger person, it could be a little challenging. I would definitely stay here again.

We booked this cottage for a family vacation for our family of 4; two adults, two older kids, and two small dogs. Yes, the cottage is small but we actually thought it was larger and nicer than the pictures. The cottage was clean upon arrival. Well stocked kitchenette, air conditioning worked well. It is similar to staying in a hotel room except you have your own space with no neighbors! Some points to note:It had a somewhat private outdoor area with a grill. The addition of chairs and picnic table and fire pit would make it perfect! The bathroom shower stall is small. It could be challenging if you are a larger person. No one in our family is that tall so it was not an issue for us.Amarin, a coffee and bakery is right behind it. This place is amazing!! Ending up getting coffee and pastry everyday.Overall excellent stay and my family had a wonderful time in Chinoteague. Would stay here again.

A place to hang your hat

The place was not clean at all upon arrival. My wife went and bought cleaning supplies to clean the place. The bed sheets were dirty as well as the "clean ones" in the closet. Trash bags piled outside the front door that appeared to be there for some time because the grass was obviously mowed around them numerous times. I think if the owner spruced up a little more details on the inside and kept it very clean it could definitely charge more but until these things happen I wouldn't recommend this place it's obviously not taken care of. Old and outdated is fine if the place is spotless clean. Good spot other wise.

Perfect location for a quick stay

The first issue was the check-in process. Supposedly we were supposed to receive check-in information automatically, but we did not. I messaged the host the day before check-in and didn't hear anything back. I then called the contact number, he answered right away and gave us the info over the phone. He was polite and didn't make me feel as though we were bothering him. When we arrived the house was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The house landscaping and inside the house was a little misrepresented by the pictures in the ad. I know it said newly renovated, but it appeared to have been done some time ago. We are Landlord/Property Managers so we understand the wear and tear on places, but you should update the listing with appropriate pictures. Other than these two things which were somewhat easy to overlook because of the location and being pet friendly we would definitely stay here again. The best coffee shop was right next door, not the one across the street. If you are in decent shape everything is in walking distance too. Maybe someday we'll be back.

Good area, needs cleaning

We booked our stay somewhat last minute (a couple of days before check in) and stayed for only one night, so we were glad Rodney was able to welcome us. Communication was fine, we received kind messages indicating the necessary information in a somewhat timely manner. The cottage had some sanitation and comfort issues : the floor was very dirty, I had to wear socks to get around without turning my feet brown from the floor. There were signs of mold in the floor of the bathroom and the handle to the shower was broken though the shower still functioned fine. We were only give the very end of one roll of toilet paper… and the sheets were polyester not cotton which made them feel dirty and quite uncomfortable. The pull out couch was also uncomfortable in that the metal bars could be felt while sleeping and gave my partner a sore bac. For $300 for one night, we were a bit disappointed with our stay, though the location was WONDERFUL and we were able to see a whole herd of wild ponies while exploring the next day! Thank you Rodney for your quick availability, we hope you find our review constructive and that you receive our gratitude nonetheless.

Worked for us

We stayed here with our husky for 3 nights and it worked out nice for us. It was in a convenient location that allowed us to walk to most things and only about 10 minute drive to the beach. It had everything we needed during our stay. This was an affordable pet friendly option for us.
