About this property
Charming two bedroom cottage with 10m x 5m swimming pool near Richelieu
Luxury self catering gites in beautiful, quiet rural surroundings of Poitou-Charentes. Our gites date back to the 16th Century and were part of a former winery which have been sympathetically converted in 2018, providing spacious accommodation with modern facilities. Both gites have private terraces with seating and bbq which open onto large communal gardens with 10m x 5m in ground swimming pool. Situated on the Loire/Vienne border close to Futuroscope, the Chateaux of the Loire Valley, Vineyards of Saumur and Chinon as well as historic towns such as Poitiers, Tours and Richelieu.
The characterful stone cottages under clay tile roofs offer much historic interest such as flag stone floors, exposed oak beams, indoor well covered with safety glass, vaulted ceilings and lime washed walls. The accommodation in Le Pressoir comprises - Two first floor bedrooms, both with en suite shower rooms and walk in wardrobes, bedroom 1 has an extra large bed (180cm x 200cm) and bedroom 2 has two single beds. On the ground floor there is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area.
After stay cleaning, bed linen and towels are included with this rental.
We have a separate building within the grounds that was formerly a bakery, this building has now been converted into a games room with pool table, football table, darts board and toys for younger children.

About the host
Hosted by Samantha Sowton

Mark and Sam were previously based in the UK employed in architecture and property development. We moved to France in 2017 with our two daughters, Millie and Hattie and bought a derelict former winery which we have totally renovated and converted to create our own home and two spacious gites. We hope to see you soon to share this beautiful part of France with you.
Why they chose this property
After having a few holidays in this area of France we fell in love with it and decided to make it our home, a decision we have not regretted. We have travelled extensively around France but particularly enjoy this region partly due to it's fabulous climate, we have very little rain and more sunshine than most of the rest of France, and the many historic towns and tourist sites we have very locally. The people here have been incredibly warm and welcoming.
What makes this property unique
Our property oozes historic character and features. Both gites have beautiful oak beamed ceilings and limestone walls. All the properties overlook the central courtyard with it's planted wine barrels and lawn. On the other side of the gites is the in ground swimming pool which is fenced for security and large lawns for children to play. We have recently converted the former bread oven or bakery building which is another stunning feature and houses the pool table, football table and darts board. A great holiday destination with something for everyone.
