Welcome to the Santa Cruz Cabana! This is a cozy beach cottage is on a quiet downtown street and has a huge backyard and many amenities. The house includes a hot tub, beach cruisers, wet suits, body boards and much more. The Cabana is located a stone's throw from downtown Santa Cruz and the Warriors basketball arena, and is walking distance to the Boardwalk, The Wharf, Cowell's beach, West cliff drive, The Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary Museum, and Depot Park and Soccer field. It is a short walk to favorite local restaurants like The Saturn Cafe, Zachary's, and Hula's Island Grill.

The house has 2 bedrooms, a living room with a queen sofa bed, a dining area/bar, a fully stocked kitchen, a large outdoor patio with grill, outdoor seating, a hot tub, hammock and Tiki bar. Includes high speed WiFi, a flat screen TV with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. It is a fully stocked house which includes all towels, linens, paper products etc. We include beach amenities such as beach towels, chairs, umbrella, wagon, cooler, boogie boards, various wet suits, and 4 adult beach cruisers.

Come stay with us and explore this beautiful county. Santa Cruz is famous for surfing and the boardwalk, but Santa Cruz is also blessed with more state parks than any other county in California, has 29 miles of beaches, hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails through magnificent redwoods, one of the oldest wine growing regions in the state, incredible fresh seafood and abundant local organic produce and a farmer's market every day of the week. Ride a bike through wine country, paddle with the sea otters and sea lions, go whale watching or fishing for salmon or halibut. Ride the roller coasters, catch a wave, touch a 1000 year-old redwood tree, or just walk on the beach. Whatever your favorite activity is, you can likely find it in Santa Cruz.

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds, gather used towels and store extra beds
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Turn off all electronics, leave all remote controls near the TVs. Close and lock all windows and doors. Place used towels on the bathroom floor. Make sure the hot tub cover is closed.
Turn off propane if you used the grill.
Place the keys back inside the key box AND SPIN THE NUMBERS. Have a safe journey home!

Happy Getaway

We enjoyed our Santa Cruz getaway. The house was close to everywhere that we wanted to visit, so we walked alot. Enjoyed that very much! House was clean, and stocked with items that we needed for a comfortable experience. Neighborhood was quiet and relaxing. Nice hot tub, comfortable beds. All good!

Nicely organized home with great yard

I thought everything was very organized and easy to understand at this VRBO, and lots of helpful beach items in the shed. It was a seamless experience checking in, figuring out how everything worked, etc. We loved the backyard.

Perfect in every way

We have stayed here twice and love the location with easy walkability to downtown, great cafes and restaurants. The hot tub is perfect after a day of hiking and the large backyard is fun for our daughter to explore. The ease of check in and check out is a big bonus. Beds are comfy and the place is cozy when we come in the winter. We will continue the tradition of stay here for our annual trip and look forward to this gem!

Santa Cruz Holiday

Perfect location for quiet nights and walkable mornings. Easy walks to beach, downtown, boardwalk. Backyard (and hot tub!!) were perfect to soak up sunshine and enjoy the stars (even if it was a misty winter day. Fireplaces to keep toes and spirits warm too. Plenty of towels to keep up with an active family and the beds were divine.

Cozy cabana

We are repeat visitors and always enjoy our time at the Cabana. While we just relax, especially in the yard, it’s easy to see how this listing would appeal to a family with children. Close to the boardwalk, beach and restaurants so there is plenty to do. But don’t overlook the fun games and hottub right on the property.

We enjoyed the little beach house

Me and my 10 year old boys loved the beach house, especially having the bikes to ride to the river and the beach. We felt safe and loved the neighborhood. This was our first time visiting Santa Cruz and we agreed that it won't be the last!

Nice little house in a very convenient spot

We loved walking to downtown, it was so convenient! It was raining so we didn’t go in the hot tub much, but it was a good temp. Backyard is cool and the game room was nice. Had a lovely stay.

The location is the best!

Property was as described. Parking is a bit tricky, but worth it for the proximity to all that Santa Cruz has to offer. The kitchen was equipped with most of what we needed, beds were comfortable, and we really enjoyed the backyard amenities. It’s close to the wharf and boardwalk and a short drive to West Cliff.

Great family vacation

Wonderful place to stay in a central location in Santa Cruz. We stayed there with our 3 kids, and even though we thought it would be small, it actually was perfect for us. The yard/hot tub/beach supplies are excellent amenities, and we could easily walk the half mile to the beach with their wagon pulling our stuff. Easy walking to lots of dinner and shopping options. Really great place for a weekend in Santa Cruz - would definitely do it again!

The Cabana is a charming experience!

My partner and our two sons (5 and 8) stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing time. Everything we needed was either already provided or close by. The foosball table and hot tub were a big hit with our boys and we had some intense family battles in the game room. The neighborhood is great and there were no issues with neighbors. This is a perfect place for a small family that wants to visit Santa Cruz and not worry about traffic or beach access. Highly recommended!

Cute Cabana

This property suited my friend and I. Easy to walk to all parts of Santa Cruz and we used the hot tub every day. Weather not kind enough to encourage us into the sea or to use the outside space as much as we would have liked but excellent to have all of the equipment to hand. Kitchen well equipped, TV resource excellent and beds big and comfortable. Only not so positive feedback is the property would benefit from a paint refresh and new curtains to make it perfect but these are small details overall. Many thanks to our hosts!

Perfect Place

The Cabana was perfect for our group of 5. Walking or riding distance to everything, great yard for our bigger group of sons. We slept very well, quiet neighborhood at night, except for us probably! Great spaces for parking and leaving car. It has all amenities needed for cooking at home, beautiful stove btw! The owners are very thoughtful of their guests and what would be needed for a comfortable stay. The cabana is just like the homes here in Ventura county in our beach neighborhoods so it was very comparable and we felt very much at home. Thank you so much for everything and hopefully stay there again in November! Oh and the Giant Redwood tree in the back, just amazing, as that is one old tree we do not get down here.

Great stay at the Cabana

My husband and I brought our MN granddaughter to stay with us in this adorable cottage for 2 nights this last week. We had fun using the hot tub, and loved being able to take an easy walk to the beach, Santa Cruz Wharf and the Beach Boardwalk. The Marine Interpretive Center right by the entrance to the wharf was a delightful find as was the Foster Freeze right around the corner from the Cabana. The cottage itself is cozy, but wonderful. The beds were comfy (the couch too), and the vibe of the place is great. It had everything we needed to be able to cook a meal. The only thing we hoped to find there but didn't was the wagon mentioned in the rental description. We ended up doing fine without it, but if you wanted to spend the entire day on the beach (with boogie boards a cooler, a beach umbrella and towels or a blanket) a wagon would have been very useful. That said, the Cabana has a lot to offer and we loved our time there. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Cute property - but beware of additional fees

My daughter-in-law and grandchildren stayed in this cute cottage for 2-nights end of July to enjoy summer activities at the Boardwalk before they went back to school. The cabana is cute and the backyard is huge with lots of activities. The inside is a little tight, but we didn't spend too much time there as we were at the beach/Boardwalk most of the time. Do be careful about the following as we were charged an extra $100: ensure you place garbage in the correct containers (we were charged for putting garbage in the refuse container ((which was not labeled)) because the owner claimed he had to empty it out and put in correct receptacle; we were charged for a broken food scrap container (?? not even sure what that is and where it was located); we were charged for sand and wood chips in the hot tub (not sure how/why for this as the last time I/kids were in hot tub, night before check-out, it was clean). It's my belief there will be a little sand in the hot tub after using as your feet will get dirty walking from the shower to the hot tub naturally, but that's just my common sense. Owner claimed he had to totally drain and refill hot tub. I find that hard to believe, but nothing I could do about a he said/she said issue. Other than the unexpected charge, we enjoyed the few days we had in Santa Cruz, however I probably wouldn't stay in this unit again due to the issues with the owner. There are many other properties available to rent.

Our family moved to Santa Cruz years ago looking for a nice place to settle down and raise our daughter. Having lived in the big city for decades (San Francisco and Chicago), we wanted a tightly knit community, with all of the amenities of a big city, and of course a killer location. We couldn't be any happier. Santa Cruz is amazing.

Why they chose this property

We have a child and know how difficult and expensive it can be to travel with kids and the logistics of getting a family to the beach and back with all the required equipment. So, we wanted to provide a family friendly place for people to come and experience all of the great things in Santa Cruz while providing everything you need for a day at the beach and a wagon to stuff it all in for the walk. We are walking distance to Cowell's beach, the Boardwalk, the Wharf, West cliff drive and downtown. We have provided all of the fun amenities that a rental should have for families (bikes, boogie boards, wet suits, beach chairs, hot tub, etc). All of this for the cost of a hotel room with much more to offer.
