About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The historic village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing.
Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley.
Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station.
The Redwoods In Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance of everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Good location and affordable rates. We stayed here for our Yosemite valley trip and it was nice place. We had elderly people and kids and it was good to have a kitchen with all amenities.
Only down side was water pressure if shower in the bathroom upstairs was a little low but it was ok in the one that is on the main floor.

Not the cabin to stay in during the summer months.
The biggest downfall was the lack of air conditioning and/or fans. The size of the space was great for a party of ten. The kitchen was stocked with all of the cooking and serving tools we needed. We didn't start the stay with enough towels nor toilet paper. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. All of the locals were very welcoming and this area of the park allows for great access to many of the parks attractions.
So close to everything! And loved how clean the house is, how it smells of wood. It has everything you need, especially kitchen supplies. Check in and check out are very easy

WONDERFULL
FIRST I MUST SAY I AM NOT COMPLETLY IN FAVOR OF REVIEWS SINCE EVERYONE HAS THER OWN VIEWS ON WHAT I GOOD OR BAD AND WHAT THEY LIKE. I WILL SAY THIS I LIKED MY EXPERIENCE ANDS SO DID EVERYONE IN MY PARTY. THE MANAGEMENT STASFF WAS EXCELLANT, I KNOW BEING NICE , PROFESSIONAL, AND POLITE
IS THER JOB, BUT THEY DID NOT MAKE ME FEEL LIKE IT WAS THERE JOB. THE CABIN WAS PERFECT FOR OUR NEEDS, CLEAN, AND VERY COMFORTABLE. YES I WILL RETURN TO THE RED WOODS, AND YES I WOULD STAY IN CABIN 3A AGAIN. TO THE STAFF OF THE RED WOODS WE THANK YOU, HAVE A GREAT SUMMER.

And to be honest, this is a wonderful place to work, and doesn't "feel" like a job. It is fun 99.9% of the time!

Family weekend
We had a great time in this cabin, however it was quite expensive....and our Internet service did not work, wasn't super important but still....and was pretty displeased about having to pay park fee, 25.00 a vehicle, we had 3, upon leaving. An extra 75.00 I hadn't planned, felt that fee should of been included in the high price of the cabin rental, since the rental is inside the park. Over all tho the cabin was well furnished for our needs.

Thank you for your review.
Sorry to hear you had problems with the Internet. Hopefully, you called the Front Office and asked to have a technician come out and fix it for you. We have someone on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Also, we are private property and management, and not affiliated/connected with the Park and their fees. Anyone that visits the Park has to pay this fee.
