First Subpar VRBO experience

Avoid dealing with this property manager at all costs! First he inflated the original price, which we paid in full 5 months in advance. Then 2 weeks before check-in he told us the 2-bd property was "damaged and no longer available so he would have to downgrade our party of 4 with 2 teenagers to a 1-bd". After several unpleasant emails he told us he was able to secure us another 2-bd property. What he didn't tell us was that he made us 3 separate reservations at the property that not only did not guarantee us staying in the same unit, but also required us to check-in and check-out 3 different times during the busiest Christmas travel week. Apparently he has a reputation at the property as a 'mega-renter' who takes money for units without actually confirming that a unit is available. Needless to say it was an unpleasant, extremely inconvenient, and stressful distraction to an otherwise salvageable family ski vacation. VRBO needs to do a better job at vetting its property managers to protect other travelers from con artists like this one.
