Let me first say that when we arrived everything was great, I loved the spot as well as the location of this rental.
Cut to day two, my SIL and her husband had a rough night on the mattress in the main room as it was hard and squeaky. I noticed that the host had mentioned to some reviewers that they should have just messaged her about any issues and they would’ve been handled. So I messaged her, asking if she by chance had a mattress topper. The only response I received back was ‘no’. I said I gotcha. We can pile some blankets up, should be ok. Well apparently she took that as there was a problem. As we headed out to go to dinner, she came running down her deck stairs to confront us. She got very defensive asking what the problem was, which I told her that I think she took what I said the wrong way and that there wasn’t a problem. She continued to defend her mattress saying there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s new and great, that we could just go spend $500 on a hotel room if it’s a problem. We had to tell her multiple times that there wasn’t a problem. We were so in shock by this interaction that we contemplated leaving and going elsewhere, but decided to just deal since we were only there 2 more days. she has full control of the A/C and would have it down chilly all day and would turn it up at night. We just dealt with it and left 2 days later. The toilet was also loose but I didn’t want to message her again. She’d have recd 5 stars.. her attitude blew that!
