Our contemporary home offers guests all the amenities and luxuries to make oneself feel right at home. We have sought to equip our home to a high standard and to anticipate your needs by providing all the things you might want for a luxurious stay. Here is an overview of what the Tensas Tower has to offer:

****IMPORTANT INFORMATION***
The condo does NOT have an elevator. Guests must use a spiral stair to access all 3 floors of the condo unit. This spiral stair is narrow and for some guests can be tricky to use if you are disabled, impaired, and/or unfamiliar with spiral stairs. Always use the handrail when on the spiral stairs. Please use caution when carrying items like suitcases, ice chests, groceries, supplies, etc. up and down the spiral stairs. Typically, the smaller the load is to carry up, the easier it is. We highly suggest guests pack in smaller suitcases since large suitcase maybe difficult to bring up 2 flights of stairs. We also have shoulder bags that can be helpful for carrying items up the stairs. Please note that this is not an ADA accessible facility.

Guests are allowed access to the parking area, 1st floor entry vestibule, and 2nd/3rd floors of condo unit. The Bayou Teche boardwalk and waterfront park are both public areas that guests are allowed to access. Guests are prohibited from entry into the 1st floor garage and roof top. Please do not climb the access stairs to roof.

Since this condo unit is attached to an office suite, it is common for the office employees to enter/exit the office through the 1st floor entry vestibule during normal business hours.

Arrival is self check-in and you will be provided with check-in instructions prior to your arrival. We live only a few minutes away from the home and work in the adjacent office suite next door. Should you need to reach us, we are always available by phone 24/7 for questions or recommendations. Also, you will have the entire home to yourself, however there is a shared entry vestibule with the adjacent office next door.

Wonderful getaway

My husband and I took a weekend trip to New Iberia for our 21st wedding anniversary. He is a big history buff and has been wanting to visit the tabasco plantation. We had a very relaxing time. The place was neat, clean, and intriguing. We lad a lovely time.

Big Tiny

First, the spiral staircase that takes you from the ground level entry door to the 2nd floor living area, and then from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor bedroom and full bath is narrow and steep. I had no problem, but any bag larger than a backpack stayed in the car. We absolutely loved every minute at this property. The apartment had everything we needed. Coffee maker worked great, ice maker in the freezer was full of ice. Pots to cook, salt, pepper and cajun seasoning. My son slept on the sofa downstairs and the king bed on the 3rd floor was very comfortable. We enjoyed the patio immensely, and spent the evenings out there. There are a few good restaurants walking distance and a family member of mine with a boat picked us up at the dock out front and took us for a ride. We plan to rent again!

Amazing Property

This was one of the most unique properties we've stayed in. The view from both decks was wonderful. What a magical place. Even with my husband's bad knee, he said the spiral staircase challenge was worth it. When we win the lottery, we would like this architect to build our dream home. Attention to details - including basket nook in bathroom was top notch. Stay here. You will be glad you did.

This property was just as adverised and then some. Very private, quiet location. Time spent on the two decks was wonderful. Very comfortable inside and well equipped. Don't dismiss the warning about the stairs, as they are tricky, and won't allow passage of large ice-chests, etc.

Amazing Home

First off it’s stunning, the clean lines and design off the charts. The attention to detail with all the peck cypress, beautiful wood floors make this massive steel structure warm and inviting. Our Kiddos said coolest place ever and I would agree. Very private with amazing 2+3rd floor views of downtown and the Bayou Teche and sneak views of Shadows on the Teche next door. We will definitely stay here again when we return to New Iberia.. Book it you will not be disappointed. Also beautiful grounds below with a floating dock for great bayou views.

The best lodging we had in southern Louisiana

Thank you again for the wonderful stay we had at the Tensas Tower of New Iberia, Louisiana. We loved the uniqueness of the home ... the design, the gorgeous views, and the history of the grounds. The outline of the USS Tensas (CSS Tom Sugg) wreck site was the draw. The beautiful weather allowed us to eat dinner out on the "tongue deck" overlooking the wreck and the Bayou Teche. Our stay was very special for us, and something we'll never forget. The location also could not be beat -- right next door to Shadows-on-the-Teche Plantation. On top of our lodging at such an incredible place, Paul personally made us feel at home and special. It was a great experience -- the best lodging we had in southern Louisiana over our two-week journey!
