Welcome to Sunset Hills Ranch!

Sharing our home with you is our delight. We hope you fall in love with the land, the unique character of the apartment and the town. Our 1 bedroom 1 Bath apartment is completely separate from our home. Check in/out is very easy and private. Sutter Creek and the surrounding Gold Rush communities are filled with an ease and pace of life that invite you to slow down, connect with yourself, each other, the land and the community. Relax and invite wonder: enjoy whatever might intentionally, or through the joy of serendipity, come to you this day, this moment. The place is great. Steep stairs if you have issues with stairs. Very quiet and beautiful place. The bed was comfortable, the pool amazing. So glad we found it. Quick 5 minutes to Sutter

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Kid-Friendly

Stayed here for a long weekend with my 10-year-old son. Check in was very easy, property is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful pool with its incomparable views. Far enough from town to feel like you're getting away, but Sutter Creek is just 5 minutes down the road, and 10 minutes from stores and anything you might need. Good vibes!

Exceeds Expectations!

Somehow… this perfectly-rated property manages to exceed expectations. I knew nothing about the area and decided to book based on the reviews— and was absolutely thrilled with the experience. It’s essentially an apartment with a huge pool and hot tub with every amenity, and the kindest family imaginable. The area is incredible with a throwback feel. I highly recommend and am already looking forward to returning.

A second perfect visit

Our second time staying here, and everything was just as perfect and wonderful and we remember from our first visit. The location, the quiet, the pool! This is our favorite getaway spot - where we feel like family, and also feel like we're in our own little private paradise...can't recommend enough!

Wow just...wow. This was a perfect place to slow down and find your center.

"Come as guests, leave as friends" We were impressed by the spellbinding tranquility of this space. In my opinion, it's an absolute treasure tucked away in the hills of gold country. Absolutely going back.

The best!

Our little family (2 adults + 3yo + 6yo) had the best stay in this little cottage. About a mile from Dt Sutter creek, gorgeous pool, and sweet overall setting. Grateful for this little get away. The host was amazing in answering all of our questions and making sure we had everything we need. 20/10. Would recommend.

Great Weekend Getaway!

Our stay at Sunset Hills Ranch was wonderful. The accommodations were beautiful and spotless. Charlotte and Betsy were very helpful and kind and went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcomed to the property. The home is located on a hill and is very private; however, you are only a couple of miles from downtown Sutter Creek. We will definitely return in the future to enjoy the pool and to visit wineries and small towns in the surrounding area.

Exceeded All Expectations: A lovely, comfortable space, abundant amenities, exquisite furnishings, an amazing, repeat - amazing pool and pool area; so serene, beautiful views. Oasis in Sutter Creek

This gorgeous hideaway is located just up the road from Mainstreet in Sutter Creek. We loved staying here and could not get over the lovely sunset views from the pool! We actually used this as a homebase to visit the Calaveras Big Trees state park (`1.5hrs drive) and surrounding outdoor spaces. It was great to be able to have breakfast in town and then make the quick drive the park. The only critique we have is that while the bed was large, it was super firm. Otherwise, we could not recommend this place more and we plan to be back, if not just to have another opportunity to take a sunset dip!

Hilltop Paradise

This was one of the finest vacation home rental experiences we have had! We had a wonderful weekend getaway at this beautiful & well-maintained property. The guest home is lovely, adjacent to a fully-equipped exercise room and gorgeous saltwater pool (with infinity edge, waterfalls & hot tub). The pool overlooks the wooded hills and canyon, offering a perfect spot to kick back and enjoy all the sounds and sights of nature -- one tree was constantly visited by hummingbirds and bumble bees! The surrounding property is beautifully landscaped. Our hosts and the property manager were friendly, warm and welcoming, offering many suggestions for local experiences. The guest home is more than fully-stocked, including a comfortable bed with fine linens, and many books to choose from as well as many comfy places to sit and read them. There is a private deck where we enjoyed morning coffee, and wine and cheese in the late afternoon, all while enjoying the view. We also savored visits with Remy, the Sanders' chocolate lab. All in all, Betsy, Sandy and Charlotte made my husband's birthday weekend a grand adventure. Thank you so much. We hope to return soon.

The description doesn't even come close to how beautiful this apartment and Hillside views are! The natural rock infinity pool is gorgeous with a hot tub and a waterfall. And the view just sitting by the pool drinking morning coffee or evening wine is exquisite. The accommodations were perfect for us. We were on a wine tasting three day weekend trip.. the beds were cozy. The managers/owners were extremely accommodating. I obviously definitely recommend this place.

This property and the hosts who curate it are wonderful! Everything about our stay was as advertised or better than we expected. The interior had all we needed. The fridge is an actual antique and is perfectly functional but a bit small, so don’t plan on stocking it up. The pool was clean and the view across the foothills was serene. I watched hummingbirds, woodpeckers, hawks, and wild turkeys all around the beautiful landscape in mid September. The nearby small airport had some fixed wing and helicopter traffic that was not an intrusion at all. I personally enjoyed watching them come and go. Nearby Sutter Creek and Jackson have plenty of dining and shops if you wish to leave for a bit. Thank you!

This turned out to be a wonderful experience and stay at this property. The check-in was easy, accommodations were beyond my expectations and the location was beautiful and amazing. It's convenient to the town of Sutter Creek and a 15 min. drive to the small historic town of Volcano. It had all the amenities of a resort stay, yet quiet and secluded for an enjoyable get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Charlotte was so helpful with check in and directions and Betsy was a pure joy to meet and connect with. Recommend this property 100%.!

While I have a formal name, you will know me as Betsy. My husband and I first came to the Motherlode 3 decades ago when we were entranced by this very house. Our home is often full of family and friends, all of whom feel like it is at least their second home – if not the real feeling that they are home. We are blessed to be here and look forward to sharing those blessings with you.

Why they chose this property

Amador County, California’s smallest, is such a special place. And our home offers the best of what this area brings. We are situated one mile out of charming Sutter Creek on the windy road to Volcano. We are surrounded by rolling hills and soul filling views, while near to lots of activities to keep you busy. If you simply want to relax, perfect. If you want to explore: a much-loved wine country a few miles away, gold mines, history, beauty everywhere, the Sierra providing g all kinds of activities within less than an hour. If you want to venture out, we locals consider day trips Tahoe and the surrounding mountains, San Francisco, the fascinating Gold Country, Sacramento. Local culture and restaurants keep people coming back to Amador again and again.

This apartment we are offering is our favorite place on our property. With a private entrance and immediate access to our pool and spa, it sits up one floor, a private deck connecting to additional level parking. We offer a fully equipped kitchen/ sitting/eating room and a generous king bed and full bath with a tub/shower. Our mission is to provide all the comforts of home, with none of the responsibility!

What makes this property unique

We have 2 - 1bed/1bath places. VRBO #7692566 and #2085453 be sure to look at both and pick your perfect spot. #7692566 is next to the pool, #2085453 is just a short walk to the pool. Separate entrance, easy check in and out, cleaned thoroughly between guests, cleaning supplies available under the sink in case you need them. Come stay and enjoy the surrounding area, our pool, hot tub (only on request Extra $25.00 charge for heating Hot Tub per day). We look forward to your visit.
