Spacious Victorian style cottage, designed for relaxation, with sweet front porch and large rear patio for outdoor living. Private, quiet location, yet steps away from dining, shopping and wine tasting in historic Amador City. Over 40 wineries are a short drive away.

Halcyon House has been a five star vacation rental since 2016, and has a loyal group of repeat guests. Join us and see why!

The house features a main floor master with king bed and full bath. Second floor includes one king bedroom and one queen, with second bath. Both upstairs bedrooms have dormers with day beds, perfect for kiddos or a reading nook. Kitchen is fully furnished with plates, glasses, flatware, pots and pans, small appliances and coffee, tea, creamer and sweetener.

Charming front porch is one spot for outdoor relaxation. Large private back patio offers lounge area, dining table and grill. Propane tank and grill cleaner are included. Please let me know if you run out of either.

Sweet and charming

This is a beautiful house and property. The kitchen is appointed with everything you might possibly need. The beds are very comfortable and cozy. The house is sparkling clean and decorated well. We loved everything about it and would love to visit again.

Amador wine tasting

Property was very nice and had everything we needed for relaxing and cooking during our stay. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Many small added touches that made the stay as easy as being at home. Sorry the weather didn’t allow us to use the beautiful patio.

Just perfect

I was so happy when I walked in the door - clean, charming, spacious, comfortable, and a very well equipped kitchen! Had a lovely week with my kids where we were able to spend quality time together and also all have our own space. Highly recommend and I will book this place again next time I visit!

A true gem in the Gold Country

This was our second stay at the Halcyon House and when our stay is complete, we always feel a little sad. Both the property and host Marilee are warm and welcoming, and Halcyon feels like home. It is beautiful inside and out and has a well equipped kitchen. The location is quiet and a stones throw to downtown Amador City and a short drive to Sutter Creek and the wine region of Shenandoah Valley. We will definitely return!

Property exceeded our expectations. Very nicely furnished with all necessities and comfort. Easy walk into town. Heater worked well. Host was responsive to any questions. We would like to stay there again. .

"Simply the Best"

The house was simply the best...super clean, the kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were so comfortable. fireplace worked great. Our host was top notch, always responding within minutes to any questions we had. We were here for a wedding this trip but are already planning our return so we can enjoy the area and explore all the great towns, and we will definitely be staying at the The Halcyon House!

Bad travel-Good Wedding

Cute house, had everything we needed. The host was very helpful. It was a bit cold for people that live in Arizona as the heater only went to 72, however the furniture was cozy as they had throws that came in handy. Marilee thank you for your help!

Great House!

Five lifelong friends stayed here for our annual "girls trip." We've been doing this since 1997. Fabulous house - welcoming and comfortable with all the amenities you could possibly need. Marilee and Chris were wonderful! Stayed in many places in CA, Oregon and Washington and this was definitely one of the best! Hope to return!

Wonderful home!

The house is lovely and wonderful for two couples traveling together because there is great privacy for each couple. Thehouse has everything you need and a lovely outdoor area for grilling or enjoying morning breakfast! Marilee is a great hostess and is a great communicator! It is a great location to visit local wineries, especially on the weekends. A lot of things are closed during the early week, but we loved the house and would highly recommend it!

The Best-- hosts have thought of everything!

We've lived in the Bay Area and North Bay for 40 years and this was the first time visiting this area. Amazing! No surprise that this property gets such high ratings-- it is well-deserved: It's plush, comfortable, spacious, thoughtfully appointed and well stocked. Loved the huge, inviting back patio-- shaded, comfy padded chairs, beautiful trees and flowers. Kitchen was a joy to cook in. We knew we were staying during days that the town was closed but it didn't matter-- had long morning hikes and an easy 10- minute drive to numerous wineries for tasting and lunch, and loved returning to the home to relax and cook dinner. We're already looking forward to next year's return! Many thanks for sharing your home!

Happy place

From the moment we walked in we felt at home! My sisters and i enjoyed Halcyon House so much we didn't want leave! The city folks were friendly and went out the their way to make our time there fun. Virginia and her husband have the best food and entertainment. Marilee, I can not recommend her enough! she left a lovely note and flowers for my birthday! She was very available by phone. We also met Chris when we could not figure out how the T V worked. I would go back in a heart beat! Thank you Marilee for helping to make my 73rd so special!

Perfect house and location

We came to CA for my nephews wedding in Sutter Creek! This wonderful spacious yet cozy house was really great! Five adults had plenty of room. It is very clean and only about 3 minutes from Sutter Creek! We will stay here again if we come back to that area. Thank you for a lovely place to stay!!

Adorable house

Our stay at the Halcyon house in Amador city was perfect. We were celebrating my 2 granddaughters who just turned 21. The location was perfect..close to wineries, hiking, shopping and rode the rail cars. We would definitely come back and stay in the Halcyon House again!

Girls weekend

This is my second stay here. This was a girls weekend! There were five of us and the space was perfect. I will definitely be back over and over. This house has everything you need and even things you wouldn’t have thought you needed. The location is perfect for a girls weekend lots of games and laughs. Cocktails on the patio, a cute town steps away for food and shopping. Can’t say enough good things about this sweet little place. All of my questions are always answered quickly as well, which I really appreciate.

Relaxing weekend in Amador County

We stayed at Halcyon House in Amador City. The house was very comfortable for 3 couples. Everything in the house is updated and tasteful. It has a nice outdoor area but was too chilly for us to be outside. It's a very short walk to downtown. Marilee is the most responsive host I've ever worked with on a vacation rental. I hope to return to this house again - it's a special find.

A 10 Star find!

This is wine country at its best. This home is not only very clean, it is classy and comfortable in every detail. We went to celebrate an anniversary and Marilee added some thoughtful, delightful extras to make our stay special. She was extremely helpful when we (uneducated in new technology) asked for some direction in using the thermostat. This place was the top of the line. We recommend it 100% and hope we can stay there again.
