We have a 9 acre wetland, a paddle boat, hiking trails, and a Lynxville favorite, The Dawg House, for a great lunch, within a quarter mile. This area of S.W. Wisconsin is one of the most scenic areas of the Upper Mississippi, and you can see it by car, boat, or bike. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the Mississippi Riverboats passing through on their journeys between St. Louis and Minneapolis, or the many towboats pushing barges up and down the river. Lock and Dam 9 is three miles south, and you can watch them pass through the lock. You will see eagles, swans, egrets, and songbirds galore within the campground and along the bluffs and water’s edge. There are enough activities to keep everyone busy and entertained. The Villa Louie, the Fort Crawford Medical Museum, the Mississippi Visitor Center in Lansing, and Effigy Mounds National Monument, are all nearby, for history buffs, and for the train enthusiasts, the BNSF railroad is always busy, and you’ll have tons of trains to photograph.

We purchased Mississippi Bend Campground in 2007. It is a 45 acre gem, across the road from the Mississippi River, and up against one of the beautiful palisades that line the Wisconsin side of the river. The house was where the former owner stayed during his summer visits. We decided it was a cute little place, and we have been working on improvements over the years. My husband Mark runs the campground, while I own and operate The Dawg House, the funky little hot dog stand you’ll surely notice during your stay. We serve great food, all types of hot dogs, brats, Chicago Style Dogs, Burgers, Delicious Tacos, Fresh Catfish from the river, smoked pulled pork, fresh squeezed lemonade, hand dipped ice cream, deep fried White Cheddar Cheese Curds, and many other yummy entrées and treats. We are hands on kind of people, so we are always around if you need anything, or have any questions about what to do or what you may need. Hope to see you soon!

Why they chose this property

Mississippi Bend is a special place. At the top of the hiking trail, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Mississippi Valley that will be well worth the trek! Also, we have a very special place where you can see an ancient Native Burial Mound, as old as the Driftless Area itself, dating back anywhere from 15,000-25,000 years. Wildlife sightings are plentiful and beautiful.
