Waterfront Home - With Secluded Private Pool On Beautiful Half Moon River

Located on Wilmington Island. 15 minutes from historic downtown Savannah, 15 minutes from Tybee Island beaches – but not sure why you would ever want to leave this view! Beautiful view of Half Moon River across the marsh to Wassau Sound, barrier islands and ocean beyond. We are renting to you the bottom floor of our vacation home which has its own separate entrances and is completely separate from the upstairs. Master bedroom with water view has a king bed, flat screen TV. Second bedroom has queen bed, flat screen TV. Sitting area has two large sofas and another flat screen TV. Fully equipped kitchen (all electric -no gas appliances). Swimming pool with lounge chairs and view of the water. Gas grill and covered outside eating area. Two docks. The long dock, a 900 foot walk out to the deep water river, is a wonderful spot to fish, catch crabs or watch for dolphins. Great private outdoor shower also. You are welcome to bring your boat - public boat ramp or marina is 3 miles by land or 8 miles by water. From the house it is 4 miles by water to beaches and sand bars accessible only by boat. 4 more miles will bring you to the south end of Tybee where you can dock at restaurants such as A.J.'s and the Crab Shack. Bought this home because of the privacy, amazing view and the easy access to the ocean and barrier islands. So fun to go out to spend the day on the sandbars or explore the tidal creeks. Then at home, sit and watch the egrets and great blue herons in the tidal marsh. Because of the 8 foot tidal swing, the view is always changing. We have outdoor cameras viewing the front and back yards. There are NO indoor cameras.
We do allow dogs -NOT cats due to family member's allergy- but require that you confirm with us that they are on flea control. They are not allowed on furniture or bedding as this creates so much additional work for our housekeeper. Please be sure to read the pet policy and other house rules and contact us

Surprising and tranquil

My family and I were exploring Savannah for a possible relocation opportunity. Our stay at this beautiful waterfront home was relaxing and educational! We had no idea that the Savannah area had 2 high and low tides per day. We enjoyed seeing the different wildlife at each time and were able to see a pod of dolphins feed at high tide twice! Loved the location, it was clean, and the host was very helpful!

Beautiful View

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner was very helpful and personable. Close enough to the beach and downtown, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to relax in the morning and evening. Nice safe area.

Great property!

This was a great escape from Atlanta. Even though it was in the 90’s, we enjoyed a beautiful breeze by the pool and dock. We really enjoy wildlife, so our encounters with a variety of birds, otter, possums, and dolphins were fantastic. Such a neat little property and fun for our dogs, too.

Super relaxing!

Loved the location of the property. Easy access to Savannah or Tybee Island. Long walks on the pier we’re very relaxing. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for making a meal. Beds were comfortable. Neighborhood was nice and quiet.

Harmony with nature

We came to visit Savannah, and found our selves enjoying the outdoors of this property. Living near a big city, we appreciated the marshes and the river, all the wildlife, and we even got to see the dolphins a couple of times. Humming birds were plentiful sitting by the pool.

Peaceful and convenient

Absolutely gorgeous property and view, especially for a couple of nature lovers. The location is about 15 minutes from the historical district. The house itself is great, the beds and couches are incredibly comfortable, even the pillows. The neighborhood is quiet, which is ideal for dog walking. If you want to check out Savannah but don't want to stay downtown, this is a great option.

This house was a perfect vacation.

We totally enjoyed our stay and we were sad to leave. The house is well supplied and very clean. The view is beautiful and always changing. The house is conveniently located. Jack was quick to answer questions. We will definitely recommend anybody we know going to the Savannah area to Jack's house.

Lovely Stay on Half Moon River

We had a fantastic stay. The accommodations are very comfortable. We enjoyed strolling out to the end of the dock on the property in the mornings and evenings. We took in several amazing sunsets. We loved the fragrant flowered back yard and the refreshing pool and outdoor shower. Lots of egrets and even an eagle were observed. Wonderfully peaceful location. Just 15 minutes from Savannah and 10 minutes to Tybee beach/lighthouse. Jack and Jan are excellent hosts. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Cozy waterfront

This basement apartment was exactly what we needed for a short weekend to run the Savannah Rock and Roll half marathon. Accommodations were updated and cozy. Thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor shower, and laying in the grass after the race. I haven't decided if I liked no cell service inside the house or not, but with two steps outside reception was fine (ATT and Sprint). Would certainly stay again!

Nature's Paradise!

We really enjoyed our week stay at this property. The dock was amazing. We saw dolphin daily and caught a stingray, Stone crab and Gaftopsail catfish. Our teens got a kick out of the aquatic wonderland right in n the backyard. We even saw a 3ft bull shark about half way down the dock swimming at the top of the water. The tidal swings are also amazing to see and experience first hand. Our son loved the pool. The beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. The owners had fantastic communication and the sunset colors are breathtaking. This is truly a unique and wonderful property we made lasting memories we will forever cherish.

RELAXING!

First trip to Savannah, we could not have picked a better place to stay. The home/apartment was clean and exactly as described in the listing. Although, I must admit upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised, it far surpassed my expectations. Much nicer in person, pictures do not do it justice. We did not get the pleasure of meeting the owners, Jack made it very easy to communicate and worked with us on delayed arrival. The neighborhood was very peaceful and the views from the deck were beautiful and relaxing.

Incredible Marsh Views! Wonderful Hosts!

If you're looking for a small property with mesmerizing views of the Half Moon River and its tidal marshes. If you're seeking peace and quiet and a respite from the stress and strain of daily life. And if you want the amenities of a much larger property without the high maintenance tasks, this is the place for you! This is a unique rental property that offers resort-type amenities in a small package: TV and DVD player in the living room plus TV's in both bedrooms, an in-ground pool and hottub, a fenced-in yard for pets, a washer and dryer and access to the owner's boats and bikes. The house is small but comfortable for 4-5 people, spotlessly clean, and easy to care for. The owners are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to insure you enjoy your stay, providing recommendations for things to do, places to eat and when we asked, recommendations for local walk-in emergency care clinics and a vet for our dog. When the new microwave broke down, it only took a phone call on our part and within 24 hours a new, fully operational microwave was installed. Our hosts defined the oft-used phrase "Southern hospitality" and charm!

Savannah and surrounding areas have much to offer

My husband and I visited shortly after Hurricane Matthew. While we have no regrets and had a great time, Wilmington Island was certainly affected and it was sad to see all the damage. When I called to inquire about things, I was told there were a few trees down. Unfortunately, this was not accurate. Jack's place is in a nicer residential area between the ocean and Savannah; approximately 20 minutes each way. Jack was very accommodating and friendly, and provided us what we needed. The apt. was clean and comfortable (bed too, which is important to to us), and provided most of what we needed for our stay. There is no laundry available, unfortunately, which I missed upon reserving. We are outdoors people and the view from this property is lovely. Unfortunately, with our busy schedule of seeing our son's band, we missed high tide and were unable to utilise the river to kayak as we had planned. If your a dog owner or lover, this is a good place. If not, I might pass. There is much to do in this area: Tybee Island - kayak the salt marshes, beach, lighthouse museum and Crab Shack for a fun outdoor meal. Savannah National Wildlife Refuge isn't too far - beautiful and we saw at least 12 gators. Too many things to list in the city from cultural and historical experiences to shopping and eating galore! Downfalls of our experience: was told we'd likely have place to ourselves most of time but this was inaccurate; did not feel private to us outside and we did not use pool (very small) or outdoor bathing. One morning I attempted to have coffee and watch the sunrise and the sprinklers came on while I was on the deck, so I moved but then the dogs came down to go to the bathroom near me. We like to cook, but kitchen was slim pickings compared to many places we've stayed over the years. No spices, low functioning utensils that were likely old extras that didn't work well, and soap had water in it, etc. However, when I mentioned some of the limitations, Jack went out that day to provide some pans and containers. Some bedroom drawers and all closets had personal things and several drawers needed to be wiped out before use. TV channels in bedroom had to be changed in living room, and therefore one could only watch one thing at a time. We are a bit multiple remotes challenged and didn't end up using. There was a strong odor of paint (or?) that lingered for days. WiFi is available but no computer; we didn't bring. Nice place, but honestly, we've stayed in nicer for les

Wonderful Home Away Home!

Home was very cozy and welcoming. We enjoyed the dock and the pool the most! Well stocked and had everything we needed. Plants and landscaping truly make you feel like ur in a little piece of coastal paradise! We will be back.

What makes this property unique

Bought this home because of the privacy, amazing view and the easy access to the ocean and barrier islands. So fun to go out to spend the day on the sandbars or explore the tidal creeks. Then at home, sit and watch the egrets and great blue herons in the tidal marsh. Because of the 8 foot tidal swing, the view is always changing. We have also become very fond of the grounds around the house and hanging by the pool. The walk to the river at sunrise and sunset is always rewarding.
