Beautiful home in an incredible location. Our family of five (3 teenage boys included) had plenty of room. Loved the rooftop hottub at night. Gregg is a very responsive host. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay! The location was fantastic, the property was clean and beautiful. Our two kids loved having their own space while getting to experience city life! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We had a wonderful stay at this VRBO—highly recommended for families with kids! The location was fantastic, close to everything we wanted to see and do. The rooftop hot tub was a highlight, with incredible views that we enjoyed in the evening. My daughter loved the trampoline, the toys provided, and the park just one block away was perfect for her to play. The home had everything we needed to cook meals comfortably, and the beds were very comfortable. The AC worked well, and having three TVs was a nice bonus for downtime. The neighborhood was quiet, private, and very walkable. I highly recommend this home!
The house was very nice as advertised. My family of four was very comfortable. The roof top hot tub was a great way to unwind after a long day walking around Boston!
Truly wonderful property for a family with plans to stay in Boston and travel by foot, T, and Uber. Fit us well, but the third bedroom is really best for kids… a bit of a squeeze for an adult (22 year old) kid. Still, loved walking to Bunker Hill, the USS Constitution, Warren Tavern, and the North End. The neighbors are nice and the home is by a park with a nifty neighborhood coffee shop (Mr. Q’s) and pizza joint (Johnny Pomodoro) just a few blocks away.
We truly enjoyed our stay. The home was a home- meaning it wasn't generic and didn't feel like an impersonal hotel. The location was great and we easily walked to North Shore and caught public transportation to other areas. Loved the owners vinyl record collection. The host allowed usage and as an engaging and unique way to connect, welcomed additions. Something to note that may be noted already somewhere but that I missed when booking: there are stairs required for all bedrooms. If you have issues with stairs, you may need to find another place, but if you don't, this one is a charmer.
The home is great. The location is great. It was a wonderful stay. The weather didn’t cooperate during our stay (90-95 degrees), but we made the best of it. Parking is difficult, but manageable.
Very comfortable and clean. Great home away from home. Pull out sofa bed in lower level 3rd bedroom was the most comfortable pull out bed I’ve ever slept on. Kids beds are a bit small for tall teenagers, but did the trick well. Note that the property listing states parking available- and on weekdays that means a 2-hr parking spot on the street or metered parking nearby. Gregg was very timely in his responses to any questions we had.
The house was great! Communication was excellent. This is a great location to visit & tour Boston from. We loved Charlestown & want to come back. It has a charming feel to it! Convenient to walk to the Charles River waterfront and begin the Freedom Trail @ Bunker Hill. We had a great stay!
We enjoyed staying here very much! The location was great. We chose to Uber instead of renting a car and I’m glad we did. Parking is very limited and the Uber drivers were always available within minutes. The house is clean and well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. Greg was very easy to work with and responded quickly. We’d stay here again.
Gregg has a wonderful home and it was perfect for our family of 5. The neighborhood is great and easy access to Fenway and North End. We had a blast. Rooftop deck a great way to end the day. Appreciate Gregg and the hospitality, communication and ease of booking. Plan to stay again next time in town.
House is beautiful and in a great location. Parking spots available on the weekend. Nice park, amazing coffee shop and restaurant within walking distance too. We walked from the Long Warf in Boston back to the house along the freedom trail+. Subway brought us to Fenway and other areas. Would have loved to stay longer than three nights :-)! Thank you for sharing your home.
Wonderful house, beautiful situation for visiting Boston
Wonderful, relaxing townhouse, right in the centre of Charlestown within easy reach of the subway and buses for visiting Boston. House exactly as described. Utterly delightful to arrive hot and bothered straight from the aeroplane and discover it is air-conditioned! There are cafés and bars nearby and it is a short walk from the transit and only a few stops to central Boston. The hot tub on the roof is a huge plus. Had a great time and Gregg was very accommodating and helpful. HIghly recommend.
This is an incredibly easy review to write. This home is a 10 in a great location; convenient to everything in Boston. We walked the Freedom Trail which you can start at Bunker Hill right near the house. Charleston was a great town with restaurants a short walk away (Waverly Kitchen & Bar, Monument Restaurant & Tavern). The train made trips to Fenway and colleges super easy. And the owners were very responsive to any question we had. The only issue and it really wasn’t one, was parking can be tricky. But we found a local lot and left the car there for our stay since it is really not needed. I would highly recommend this rental for any Boston stay!
We traveled to Charlestown to visit family in the area, and this house turned out to be a great central location. The size was much bigger than we expected, with many great areas for our 6.5 year old (bedroom, trampoline, hot tub), and also space for the adults to relax after bed time. The washer/dryer was also super convenient!
Gregg was very communicative and helpful, when we had questioned, and never took very long to respond.
I was worried about parking, especially with the school under construction. Luckily, we were able to find street parking each night within a block or two without too much issue.
We'd definitely come back to this rental if we are back in the area!
The house was very nice. No dish soap. No shower soap. The major problem is that the owner did not leave us a parking permit. There is no parking available at all around the house. If you want to park your car, you will have to move it every two hours and in the morning you must move the car by 8 AM. We had to find a public parking lot and park our car there for the rest of the visit and take Ubers everywhere. The owner should have gotten a temporary parking permit for us, but we had no idea that this was the parking situation until we got there. We should have been told upfront in the description of the home before renting. The two bunk beds are quite small for adults.
Our family of five LOVED this rental! Space for everyone to spread out, super comfortable beds, great water pressure in the showers, plenty of towels and a fully stocked kitchen. It wasn't an issue for us, but there are two flights of stairs.
I can't rave enough about the location though. We used public transportation our visit and did a lot of walking but this entire neighborhood was beautiful, easy to navigate and just made us happy! 5-10 walk to grocery, Bunker Hill and end of Freedom Trail, train station (Orange Line might be the cleanest, easy to use subway EVER), great restaurants (check out Monument), North End and getting to and from Fenway was an easy train change. We also enjoyed the hot tub, and a glass of wine while watching a movie with the kids after a day of exploring! Gregg was quick to communicate to questions and we appreciated the comfort of this home. Thanks so much!
This is a great house with fantastic air conditioning, which was really crucial because we were in Boston during a horrendous heat wave. I only have a couple of issues. First, the house is on what is basically an alley, not a street, and there is no parking available nearby. We did not know this when we booked as the listing says "Parking available." We ended up booking a space in a garage just over a mile away. Not a big deal unless the heat index is near 100 degrees, which it was, and the listing should be clearer about this issue. And this was a shock: there was NO COFFEE. There was a coffee maker, but no pods for it. Even a cheap motel these days has a couple of pods for the Keurig, and indeed there were tea pods. But no coffee. We ended up walking a few blocks to an excellent coffee bar each of the two mornings we were there, but it just felt very stingy that the host couldn't supply a few lousy pods for what we were paying per night. Note that towel storage is haphazard and you may have to dig around the closets for what you need. The housekeeper does not put out sets for the guests and finding a washcloth was a bit of a treasure hunt. Other than that, we enjoyed our two nights and the neighbor lady is a genuine treat. In fact, everyone we encountered in our whirlwind tour of Boston was super pleasant. Can't wait to go back.
This house is exceptional. The house is totally charming and fully functional. We absolutely loved our stay in Charlestown. Gregg is an incredibly accommodating host and took care of all our needs. All together, it probably makes it the best house in Charlestown
Ideal for family wanting space and authentic Boston neighborhood
We appreciated Gregg making this lovely property available for us to begin our New England family trip. We had everything we needed and more. If not for the unprecedented heatwave, we would have spent more time enjoying the rooftop experience (darn you global warming!). Public transit certainly is doable but we chose to rent car (weekend parking was easy in the neighborhood) or rideshare to places where parking was tight (Fenway!). Gregg was very responsive to questions and even left another number of a sibling in case we weren’t able to reach him.
