Cherrywood Treetop Retreat, near UT & Mueller

Professionally designed garage apartment with ample natural light, a spacious kitchen and an exterior cedar deck with a tree-top view, located in a second floor apartment with a private entrance on the edge of the East Austin Cherrywood neighborhood near Manor Road.

Easy access to The University of Texas, amazing Manor Road eateries (including a rooftop mescal bar), Dell Children's Medical Center, Longhorn Sports, the Mueller Neighborhood businesses and greenways (including the Alamo Drafthouse, the Thinkery, and the beautiful Mueller Lake Park), Patterson Neighborhood Park (with tennis and volleyball areas), and transit to downtown Austin for SXSW and Austin City Limits (ACL). Capital Metro Bus (lines 20, 335, 350) or Metro Rail (red line) are both a short walk away. Bikes, scooters, and cars are often available for rental in the area using apps providing those services.

Walk up a set of stairs to a private entrance and into a living room with comfortable seating and an adjacent kitchen separated by countertop dining. A door separates the bedroom from the more public space, with a queen-sized platform bed and en-suite bathroom (shower only) and attached closet. A cedar deck has seating for two and an umbrella on the north-east side of the building.

Coffee is provided in the apartment (Keurig or French Press), but it's not too far to Houndstooth, Thunderbird, Compass, Halcyon, or Starbucks if you'd prefer an espresso. Walk (or drive if it's too hot) to the historic Browning Hanger and enjoy a Veracruz All Natural breakfast taco from a food truck (consistently on the top five list of best migas breakfast tacos in Austin for a reason), or join the late morning crowd at El Chilito (we like the Cherrywood). Craving pastries or a delicious brunch? We recommend Sour Duck (casual sister restaurant to five-times James Beard award finalist of Odd Duck and Barley Swine).

The space below the apartment is a studio and garage (and are not part of the rental). Portions of the yard are frequented by two dogs (they bark, but are secured behind a fence), several hens (they don't bark and are quite sweet), as well as visiting cats, birds, squirrels, and the occasional fox. The yard is currently being landscaped so it's a bit of a mess currently.

Security cameras are located on the property, but none are in the apartment.

Cleaning products use lemon oil and/or are lemon scented for those with citrus allergies.

In addition, the City of Austin’s Hotel Occupancy Tax rate is 11 percent, comprised of a 9 percent occupancy tax and an additional 2 percent venue project tax. Texas law requires that each bill or other receipt for a hotel charge subject to the tax imposed for a venue project contain a statement in a conspicuous location stating: “The City of Austin requires that an additional tax of two percent (2%) be imposed on each hotel charge for the purpose of financing a venue project.” This additional tax will be requested after booking.
