It will typically take longer to get to points of interest than the times listed by VRBO. Times may vary based on your walking and driving speeds

We have no control over the distances and information listed in the "What's Near By" , "About the neighborhood" and "Explore the area". Please do not go by this if it's important to be near a listed point of interest. These are all AI generated based on our address and we cannot change the text in the descriptions or the arrival times for the points of interest.

*************************
Lone Bear Cabin features 3 bedrooms with 1 king and 2 queen beds, 2 full baths; mountain views. There's a futon in the basement which we count as the 4th bedroom. This bed/futon is probably best for a child or young adult. The home is located in a private secluded neighborhood surrounded by the Shenandoah River-South Fork. Comfortable beds, huge deck, magnificent hot tub, well-stocked kitchen, large living area, separate dining area adjacent to the kitchen, stainless appliances, fireplace, gas grill, fire pit, fast internet and hiking trails.

Our cabin is self check-in. You can enter anytime between your check-in and check-out times.

***INTERNET***
We have Starlink internet. The speeds range from 50Mbps to 100Mbps. This is as fast as you can get in the area. This is plenty of bandwidth to do work

****************************NOTE: This is not a party house or a flat rate rental. Only guests on the contract or cleared through owner are permitted on the property at any time. Please ask before booking if you intend to have extra guests (not on the contract) during the day. We will likely decline all requests for more than 4 extra day guests.*******************************************

*****HOT TUB*****
We have a 600 gallon Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub which retails for 20K, comfortably fits 8 and is the best consumer hot tub on the market. It's 91 inches x 110 inches and 40 inches deep. Most low end rental hot tubs will be 76 inches x 66 inches and 32 inches deep. This is a huge difference even for two people if a hot tub is important for your stay.

We empty and refill the hot tub every six to eight weeks. We fill our hot tub with filtered and treated water that is delivered by truck to our house. Additionally, we test, shock, clean and treat the water in the hot tub before each stay.

We will also provide one free visit from the spa company (upon request) to stop by to test, shock, clean and treat the water for stays of 5 nights or longer.

*****Grill*****
We work to have a semi-full tank and a spare propane tank. Please check the tanks when you arrive. We try to keep them both full so you don't have to worry about propane. If they are both empty, there is a gas station that will exchange the tanks down the road. Take a picture of the receipt and we will reimburse you the cost.

**********FAQ**********
Do we need a 4x4?
You only need to take one mile of relatively flat gravel road from the main highway. My 2007 Ford Focus has no problem with these roads. However, during a major snow storm (6 plus inches), AWD is helpful

Can we bring our well behaved pet?
We don’t even let our friends bring their pets. Also, there are those with allergies that value a pet free home.

Do you have an outlet for hybrid/electric cars?
We can give you access to the standard outdoor outlets on our patio free of charge. These outlets on the deck are about 25 feet from the driveway. You are responsible for bringing all necessary cables and adapters.

Can we have an early check-in/late check-out?
Note that early check-in (before 4PM) cannot be guaranteed until 24 hours before check-in. If there are no guests the night before we always grant an early check-in.

We don't grant late check outs (after 11am) as our cleaning service needs to be booked a month in advance. Additionally, it takes us about five hours to get the place ready for an on time check-in of 4PM.

What types of beds do you have?
We have two brand new (as of Aug 2020) Queen Bed Boss Heir ET Plus 11 inch Memory Foam Mattresses and a King Sized (new as of Nov 2022) Bed Boss Reflection mattress. There is a futon in the basement. We hope that one of these will fit your sleeping style or those of your family and friends

How clean do I have to leave your place after checkout?
We pay our cleaners very well and we pay them at a minimum more than we get from your cleaning fee. We pay them extra when we have extra guests. All we ask is that it's in a condition where a cleaning crew of two can get it clean to COVID standards in five hours. We don’t expect it to be perfect or for you to do our cleaning company's job. We are simply requesting that it doesn’t look like a scene from Animal House or the Hangover at the end of your stay. Otherwise, we have to delay check-in for the next guest if a guest checks in that day.

Can I access the River Access through the HOA access points?
We have two river access points available to renters. Access Point I is .9 miles away and you can park your car there with a pass. Access Point II is 1.2 Miles away and you can pick people up but you can't park there. It's about 2 hours by tube and 30 minutes by kayak between the two points. The HoA is considering removing to both access points. The next closest location is River Run Outfitters which is about 3 miles away.

Do I need to bring firewood?
Yes, you do need to bring your own firewood for the OUTDOOR fire pit. The fireplace inside is gas and does not require firewood. Note that there are burn bans in Virginia from February 15th each year through April 30th. We ask that you respect those to protect our National Forest when they are in place(grill and fireplace use still permitted during burn bans).

Also, if you require more flexibility with the cancellation policy, please reach out to us before you book. The worst we can do is deny your request. :)

**PHONE**
AT&T gets an LTE connection here. Guests have reported that Sprint and T-Mobile also get a good connection. Verizon does not get a good connection here.

**OTHER**
Sheets, bath towels and large beach towels for the hot tub are provided.

The property uses both a well and a septic system. We enjoy drinking fresh water out of the well and we have a state of the art well filtration system. However, those that are particular about their water may want to bring their own water.

The Shenandoah area has over 50 species of mammals that also call the Shenandoah Valley Home. We have bears, raccoons, deer, rabbits and a variety of birds. Please do not leave food outside or in your car to decrease the chance of extra visitors. We have a Bearicuda (animal proof) trash can outside for trash storage.

Great Short Stay
This property lives up to the description and the good reviews. It's an easy place with plenty of info. If you are not hiking or paddling you will want to live on the deck, an incredible place for a cup of coffee in the early morning as the sun hits the mountains before the valley. Hard to believe we were in such a remote and private place so close to DC.

Rileyville cabin
This property was just as described. It was perfect for my wife and I. The property was very clean and updated. The new floors are beautiful. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary equipment We did not use the grill or the hot tub but they looked to be very nice. We have our own hot tub so that experience was not important to us. Plus we took off most of the week from cooking. We visited numerous wineries and breweries in the area. This location was ideal for trips to the caverns and numerous days to the park. It is very quiet and peaceful in this area. The bed was comfortable as well as the furniture. Thanks for a fantastic place to unwind and relax after days of hiking and seeing the sights in the area

The kids didn't want to leave!
Such a wonderful home away from home. I can't say enough good things about this house. I would recommend driving the extra 10 mins to eat out in Front Royal v Luray. We really enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub, pool table and overall quality of the rental.

We live in Reston and we own two vacation homes out in the Shenandoah. Lone Bear Cabin is our oasis when I'm not otherwise traveling for work or hosting guests.

Pre-COVID, I would travel 110+ days per year for work. I have the top tier status with several hotel chains. The top tier status has led to some over the top accommodations at hotels. I try to bring that same top tier status experience to guests at our cabin

Why they chose this property

My Dad lives nearby and I've enjoyed visiting him in his cabin over the years. I purchased this place to create similar memories for myself.

What makes this property unique

This place allows you to enjoy the outdoor space while eating or BBQing.

We also strive to be a premium listing. Most people that stay here mention in their reviews that our cabin is the nicest cabin they've stayed at in the Shenandoah area. We also don't see this as an investment property, we see this as our vacation home. We reinvest everything back into the property
