About this property

Lone Bear Cabin: EV, River Access, Mountain Views, Fireplace, Hot Tub

****NEW for 2026****
We’ve opened up our previously locked off master with a king bed to guests, with a king bed, a private en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace. The house and 3 acre property are still for your exclusive use and no one but you will be there during the stay.

Pictures Taken April 22, 2026
************************

Welcome to Lone Bear Cabin, a mountain view retreat on three private acres near Luray, Virginia. You have the entire place to yourself for the stay. This is our own getaway too, so we keep it clean, comfortable, well stocked, and maintained the way we want it when we arrive.

THE SPACE
* Dogs only are welcome, with up to 2 dogs under 50 pounds each, and the pet fee is $100 per stay. Please indicate you have pets on your booking so you are charged appropriately. Bringing dogs without paying the pet fee is a violation of the rental agreement.
* The upstairs primary suite has a king bed, en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace
* The second upstairs bedroom has a king bed.
* The main level bedroom has a queen bed.
* The basement has a futon in an open area, and it is best for a child or teen since it is not as comfortable as a bed and has limited privacy.

BATHROOMS
* The home has three full bathrooms.
* Two bathrooms are tub and shower combos.
* The en suite master bathroom is a shower only.

WE AND OUR GUESTS LOVE:
* Our basement pool table and game space is nice especially for families and rainy days.
* Starlink WiFi suitable for streaming and video calls (speeds can vary in storms)
* ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV charger, 40 amp for the J1772 connector
* The location is a great home base for Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and Luray.
* Comfortable beds and a cabin that feels like a real home, not a bare bones rental.

KITCHEN
* The kitchen is fully equipped for real meals, and we provide both drip and Keurig coffee makers.
* If you cannot find something or an item is worn, message us and we will replace it quickly.

RIVER ACCESS
We are not riverfront, but the neighborhood Home Owners Association (HOA) provides river access to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Adult life jackets are available upon request, and we recommend bringing child sizes if needed.

There are two access points. The first 0.9 miles away with parking available, and the second 1.2 miles away for drop-off and pick-up.

CABIN POINTERS
* Keep in mind our well, our septic and space are neither equipped, licensed nor insured to host more than 6 people. Please reach out if you are unsure if our place is suitable for your daytime visitors if you will go above our max occupancy.
* No smoking or vaping is allowed.
* Filtered well water is drinkable, and the home uses a septic system, so please flush toilet paper only.
* About one mile of graded gravel road leads to the cabin, and compact two wheel drive sedans are fine except during the worst snow storms. We personally drive our compact ford focus and we rarely have access issues except in heavy snow
* The neighborhood clears the road during major snow events, but conditions can vary, so all wheel drive is recommended during heavy snow.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT
Early check-in possible if the night before is vacant. We can confirm 5PM the day before check-in.

Check out is at 11. No late check-out (cleaners need five hours to clean the home to get it ready for a 4PM check-in)

HOT TUB
We have a 600-gallon Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub, comfortably fitting up to 8 people. Our dedicated cleaners and hot tub service company ensure it’s always in top condition.

SERVICE AND SUPPORT
We take pride in providing exceptional service. Should anything not meet your standards, we have several service contracts and area companies on retainer ready to assist you. We also provide videos and instruction guides for all house amenities to ensure a hassle-free stay.

We live in Reston (90 minutes away) and we own two vacation homes out in the Shenandoah. Lone Bear Cabin is our oasis when I'm not otherwise traveling for work or hosting guests.

Why they chose this property

My Dad lives nearby and I've enjoyed visiting him in his cabin over the years. I purchased this place to create similar memories for myself.

What makes this property unique

This place allows you to enjoy the outdoor space while eating or BBQing.

We also don't see this as an investment property, we see this as our vacation home. We reinvest everything back into the property
