This cozy one room log cabin was built in 1953 and is located in a friendly Illinois town that is part of St. Louis metro area. You can walk to town (restaurants, craft breweries, wine bar, shops, concerts, plays) and you're still close to St.Louis attractions. Why fight traffic and worry about parking or safety? Guests love our clean and tranquil cabin and the welcoming town of Waterloo.

A log framed king bed plus double log framed futon will sleep 3 guests. (Mostly used by couples looking for a getaway or a business person seeking a quiet, comfortable retreat.) The newly rennovated bathroom has a shower. Kitchen features granite counter top with 4 bar stools. Stocked with kitchen appliances, cooking & dining items, bed linens and towels. Free WiFi & premium cable TV, dvd player. Parking for 2 cars and driveway through property from main street to back alley/side street.

Across street from historic stage coach stop, Peterstown House. Summer Tuesday night band concerts and Sunday concert series at town square. Area public golf courses, parks, wineries. Grocery, & other stores and services nearby. Easy drive to downtown St. Louis and larger shopping centers. Close to 255, I-55, I-44, I-64 & I-70

Perfect Location

The cabin was clean and cozy and perfect location to all the breweries and restaurants we wanted to check out. And loved that it was pet friendly since we love bringing our dog with us everywhere! Highly recommend!

Great place!

Very nice and relaxing stay. Property was exactly as listed and did not disappoint at all! Great location the downtown waterloo and about 30 mins away from STL. Accommodations were great and so was Rika! We even ran out of propane on the grill at 10 pm and it was replaced even before we woke up the next morning. Highly recommended, we will be staying there again!

Anniversary getaway

Who knew you could have a cozy cabin experience inside a small town neighborhood! Just blocks from the Main street life was an unexpected bonus. My partner and I will definitely be booking here again.

Overall experience was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet neighborhood and comfortable accommodations. Only complaint was low water pressure and only sprayer being a rain showerhead.

Great for Stubbornfest

Property is very clean. Had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. It is within walking distance to Main Street bars and restaurants. Had a great time during the Waterloo Octoberfest called the Stubbornfest. Great property!! Highly recommend!

Cozy cabin is peaceful and in a great location.

Brian was friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean and linens were nice. Kitchen is great. We had everything we needed. The neighborhood is quiet. We enjoyed sitting outside with our family. Highly recommend!

Authentic Old-time Cabin

Hubby & I enjoyed our 2 night romantic getaway! The cabin is EXACTLY as pictured. We slept like babies in the big cozy bed. The place was well stocked with just about everything a person could need! We roasted marshmallow’s and enjoyed the fire pit. The local stores & shops were wonderful. The only issue I had was my GPS didn’t recognize the address, but people in the neighborhood were very helpful and pointed the way. I definitely recommend staying here! Thank you to Rica for allowing us to stay. I hope Daisy didn’t leave too many fur-balls behind. She didn’t want to leave ❤️

Walking distance to downtown attractions

We needed a quick getaway and this cabin was a perfect fit. This cabin is within walking distance of the downtown area but also very drivable to St. Louis attractions. It is not secluded and within a neighborhood, so you'll pick up on some traffic nearby. Also, we stayed during a colder weekend and the noise from the heater kicking on and off kept waking us up. If you're a light sleeper and plan to use the heater, be sure to bring earplugs. There were some games to use and a television, for more modern conveniences. The kitchen was fully stocked, but quite a few of the dishes we needed to use had to be rewashed. No big deal. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Quiet little cabin in a very good location. It’s in the center of town but feels like you’re in the countryside. Once you drive off the property, all the convenience of retail stores are minutes up the road.Definitely a one or two person stay. We loved the phone-booth shower!

We came to Waterloo to visit family for Christmas. We always wanted to stay in a log cabin. This one didn’t disappoint. We loved everything about it! The bed was so comfortable, we slept in every single day! The owners were very easy to get ahold of. Great experience all around!

We really enjoyed our stay in Waterloo. The cabin is well equipped, clean and very comfortable. Because it is a cabin, the windows are small so there is less natural light, but the place offers good privacy. All entrance access and directions were clear and accurate.

Perfect Cabin in a Perfect Place

This is our second time staying in this wonderful cozy cabin. For a small space it feels so large inside and that is because the owners have done an amazing job of laying it out. There is every creature comfort you need, as well as a wonderful table outside and a firepit with seating area to enjoy this picturesque small town. Everything was very clean. We will be back as soon as we can!

I LOVE meeting people from all over the world, and especially hosting them in the welcoming, charming town of Waterloo. My dad's side of the family has roots in this area

Why they chose this property

My dad, uncle and grandfather built this cabin in 1953 on the Wolf property. Across the yard is the timber frame chalet my dad added in 1997. I love this location!! Walk to town but close to the city. Our guests typically come to visit St. Louis and are pleasantly surprised by all Waterloo has to offer.
