Waterside Villa near Dubrovnik

The Villa was originally built as summer palace by an noble family of Ragusan republic in 17.th century. It is 10 meters of the sea, perfect for a quick dip, in a quiet suburb of Old Mokosica, 5 minutes walk to local good value shops, bars and restaurant, occupied mainly by Croatians, with very few tourists in evidence.Villa Mirak has a really peaceful and restful atmosphere. An excellent bus service is close by running to all major locations. We would describe the area as " spectacular rustic". All of the neighbours are very friendly - some own their property as a holiday home, so a few properties are not occupied all the year around. Part of the property comprises an old chapel, which is now used as a dining room with an amazing atmosphere. Outside there is a Renaissance style restored garden with its own natural well. Villa Mirak is 2 miles from the ACI Marina, and from the Port Town of Gruz 4 miles away. The Old City which is under Unesco protection as cultural monument is 4 miles from Villa,it is a major tourist attraction, with a large range of museums, restaurants and bars and excellent cultural activities including concerts and clubs.

House was exactly as listed,very clean and well equipped,nice addition of a hot tub. The manager who lived next door was very helpful and friendly,towels changed 3times during our 2 week stay.Perfect location for relaxing by the river and watching boats pass by,ideal for exploring Dubrovnik which was very beautiful but expensive.Good riverside bar 10mins walk away with good atmosphere,few more nice restaurants within walking distance would have made the holiday perfect. Views from the villa amazing and a nice breeze during the day while sunbathing by the river.

A lovely well equipped summer Villa, next to the sea, with a great garden

We stayed for 10 days in May and had wonderful weather. The garden was a real bonus, as we were able to barbeque every day and rest there after a busy day. We did go out to some very good value restauraunts close to the Villa, particularly near the Marina. We rented a car, but ended up using the buses for local trips to Dubrovnik. Excellent service. The islands were a feature of our holiday. We had three boat trips and swam each time off the boat to the sandy beaches. The Old Town was very enjoyable in the evening and we found some fabulous restaurants. Our local husband and wife hosts Cvjetko and Dube looked after so well and arranged out trips out fopr us - thanks so much. We loved this holiday home and hope to be back soon.

Very tasetfully restored historic property with amazing atmosphere.

Villa extremely clean and well equipped. Managers excellent and gave some very good tips. Swam outside the Villa in October - water still warm. Sunbathed in the garden and visited ACI Marina, Dubrovnik Old Town, Gruz market and Zaton. Had all our meals alfresco in the garden or over looking the river, watching the boats go by. Really appreciated the fast broad-band - we had several FaceTimes with grandchildren. Used local buses to get around which were frequent, cheap, clean and airconditioned. Had a lovely walk on the old Dubrovnik/Sarajevo narrow guage railway line over looking the river. All in all a great week!

Great location for exploring Dubrovnik and surrounding area

Really enjoyed our stay at Villa Mirak. Location is just outside Dubrovnik but the city is easily accessible using the regular city buses (about 20 minutes). A car is helpful for exploring the surrounding area although not essential, particularly if the main purpose of the trip is to see Dubrovnik. The villa itself is very comfortable and clean with enough space to use as a base to see the area or just hang out in and and take in the beautiful surroundings. The local area has just about enough to provide all the daily needs although for more choice of shops and restaurants you need to travel into the city. All in all a great find and I'd happily recommend to anyone visiting Dubrovnik.

Sehr gut und sehr freundlich !

1. Das alte Haus bietet alles, was man braucht. Es ist schnörkellos eingerichtet, die Anordnung der Räume hat Charme. 2. Die Lage am Ufer ist ideal, die Uferstrasse stört überhaupt nicht. Der Zugang zum Wasser ist klasse, das Wasser ist sauber und frisch. Wir haben oft gebadet. 3. Der Garten nach hinten ist sehr schön, der whirl pool hat den Kindern sehr gefallen. 4. Die Vermieter wohnen neben an, Sie sind sehr sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Resumé: Wir haben die Woche sehr genossen.

The location on the shore is ideal, the road does not bother at all. The access to the water is great, the water is clean and fresh. We often bathed. 3. Nice house in the Dubrovnik area

A very nice house that was very well equipped! The house was just a few meters from the river Ombla and the neighbours was friendly local people. It was a nice basecamp for the exploration of the Dubrovnik area. An extra plus was that it was a Jacuzzi in the garden. The check in and the check out was very easy. The host was perfect!

Alles bestens

Ganz ruhig und idyllisch direkt am Fluss gelegen und doch zentral. Keine 5 Minuten bis zur Bushaltestelle, von wo aus der Bus direkt in die Altstadt fährt. Ebenfalls nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß der nächste Supermarkt, ein Obst- und Gemüsehändler und ein paar Stufen weiter ein Bäcker. Im Haus selbst ist alles da, was man braucht und der schöne Garten mit Orangenbäumen verlockt, einfach da zu bleiben und entspannt in der Sonne zu liegen. Etwa 2,5 km den Fluss Richtung Quelle entlang gibt es ein tolles und eher verstecktes Bistro mit sehr leckerem Essen und fantastischer Lage direkt am Wehr gegenüber einer ehemaligen Mühle. Neben Dubrovnik hat uns Kotor in Montenegro sehr gut gefallen und in Dubrovnik selbst unbedingt den Wanderweg zum Aussichtspunkt gehen (alternativ gibt es natürlich eine Seilbahn). Die Aussicht, besonders im Sonnenuntergang ist spektakulär. Alles in allem ein rundum schöner Urlaub in einem für uns idealen Ferienhaus.

Great base for exploring. Only had a 5 day stay and we had a hire car so could easily sight-see. Very convenient for Dubrovnik port area (large supermarket) and access to main coastal road to visit different beaches and bays. Lovely restoration of house, very tastefully done. Air con in the bedrooms much appreciated! Lovely large garden area and very handy to have washing machine/airer when travelling with kids! Thanks!

perfect location for us

Its so great that the house is outside of the main city, the bus service is fast and efficient when needed. We used the little dock and the boat mooring a lot, it all worked really well. For subadiving we visited some of the main hotels, and immediately realised why its better to stay somewhere like villa mirak.

Only a week but long enough for a first discovery of Dubrovnik. The waterside villa is a really fine example of a very tasteful renovation of a property with its history which can still be seen and appreciated. The nearest restaurant (BOGO) is well worth a visit for both its quality and reasonable prices. Highly recommended

Perfect getaway within reach of all one would want to see without the touristy chaos!

Both homeowner & manager were wonderful to work with. The hospitality was second to none. The home is clean, has everything you may need, felt safe & was in an ideal location. Restaurants in walking distance were fantastic. And the main city was an easy drive with inexpensive parking.

Beautiful Villa

We have just returned from a lovely family holiday at Villa Mirak. The Villa itself is beautiful and well-equipped and the children (5yrs & 3mths) had a great time. The Villa is located in a nice quiet residential area but also has very good transport links to the Old Town, ports, marina and nearby islands. There are shops, cafes and restaurants nearby and the locals are all very friendly. What more could you ask for! We will be back again soon...

Beautiful, quiet location just outside of the stunning historic city of Dubrovnik.

We had a wonderful relaxing week in the villa. The location is perfect for a peaceful break but has easy access to Dubrovnik old city, beaches and islands if you want to explore. The villa has all the facilities we needed for our stay - a rustic, country garden with lovely patio area, pagoda and fabulous BBQ. The bedrooms were light, airy and air conditioned which was great in June as the weather was beautifully hot. The lounge area (which we didn't sit in very often because of the fabulous weather!) has the rustic exposed brick work of the original villa which we loved. The owners thought of so many little touches that made our stay from the well-equipped kitchen to the multiple spare plugs throughout the villa! The wonderful Croatian managers of the property were so helpful and supportive during our stay. They didn't overwhelm us but were there for advice and local connections which were invaluable. We used the local marina bar and swimming pool area which were great. The trip into Dubrovnik couldn't have been easier on the bus and it was so cheap. The old city is stunning - we can't wait to come back as we ran out of time to explore all the museums. We also did a boat trip to 3 beautiful islands, had some wonderful meals out (we left the leaflets of the really good ones in the villa!) and visited the local Banje Beach. We had a brilliant week and will definitely be back. Thank-you for a superb stay.

Fantastic family friendly villa

We stayed at Villa Mirak with our 2 yr old son. Its the first time we'd traveled abroad with him and Villa Mirak was the perfect place to stay. The house was full of home comforts, with a quiet garden perfect for relaxing (or letting off some steam!) The local bus service was reliable and made it easy to travel around the area without need for hiring a car. The local shops were also fantastic, a short walk away and great value. The managers at Villa Mirak made sure nothing was a problem, if we needed them we were only a phone call away. We loved everything about the Villa and Croatia and we will certainly be visiting again. We cannot recommend this highly enough!
