The main body of the villa includes 2 bedrooms, 2 new bathrooms, a kitchen, a large living room, a beautiful shaded patio with the dining area overlooking the garden; additional laundry bathroom and a hot water shower outside at garden level. Extra folding bed and baby cot available. An extra room for 4 children (2 bunk beds) available if needed . Air-conditioning and mosquito nets in all rooms. Private car park. Free wifi . Maratea and the region of Basilicata are one of Italy's last travel frontiers. Maratea, chosen by picky Italians as a less crowded and cheaper alternative to the overcrowded Amalfi Coastine, lies 2 hours south of Naples. The Gulf of Policastro between Campania in the north and Calabria in the south it is truly one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy.

Wonderful, fully stocked house in a spectacular location. It was great being able to walk directly from the house down a beautiful pathway to a secluded beach. There are high-end beach services offered at the beach or there is a free section too. The view from the deck is amazing... you can see the sea and sunset all the way to Sapri. There is also a really nice walk from the house along the sea with more incredible views.

Wonderfull stay

We had a nice holiday. The house was clean, had a nice view, a lovely terras and a beautiful garden. Restaurants are in the neighbourhood. You can reach the village on foot within ten minutes, there we had a nice dinner at restaurant De Peppe. Also the small beach was nearby.

A beautiful house in a fantastic location

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday exploring this area of Italy. We found it unspoilt and full of Italians rather than tourists. The beaches were quiet and beautifully clean. The house was absolutely lovely, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. We were met by Rafaelle who was charming and helpful. The house added to our experience and we hope to return one day.

We fell in love with this house...

Location of the house was as described. Check-in was fast and easy, and Mirella was perfectly taking care, that all arrangements were working well. The house is very well equipped, nothing missing, and everything in very good shape. We were positively surprised by the very personal and individual furniture and very much liked the Italian tableware and ceramics. Breakfast and dinner on the beautiful and spacious terrace with stunning views of the Sea were daily highlights, complemented by lazy time on one of the nearby beaches. In summary we had two perfect weeks in a beautiful villa in Acquafredda, and we will come back.

Peaceful and Calm

Four of us long-time friends shared a fantastic week in May 2017 in Basilicata. Mirella was generous with her directions and logistical help before we went, Rafaelle was a great caretaker host and always available, and all the local citizens made us feel quite welcome. We even toured the Maratea grotto with Rafaelle's brother Pompeo at their invitation. The house was clean and well-furnished for sleeping and eating, and the covered porch overlooking the sea was about the most relaxing place in Italy. While reading one morning, I even spotted a grey fox walking through the underbrush. What a thrill! We walked to local restaurants and the alimentari for excellent dining opportunities and groceries, and toured the area with the maps and suggestions provided. This was our second stay in Aquafredda, and it was the best! Thank you so much, and we look forward to our next trip to paradise. Jim and Lynne

A wonderfully clean villa with everything required for a self catering holiday. A real home from home. The view from the extensive terrace overlooking the sea and the mountains was splendid. Mirella is the best host we have had with plenty of information before leaving the UK and continued hints during our stay. A good command of English was a bonus Judith, Roger, Diana and Bob

Great Villa with a wonderful view, well equipped and near beach

We had a great week at the property. It is located on the impressive coast of Maratea, has an impressive view and is very well equipped. You can walk/drive to 2 very nice beaches in the bay (takes with kids 10 minutes and 200 stairs ;-)) Mirella is a great host and very helpful. Remarkable is the beautiful terrace and garden area, many details like a shower and outdoor kitchen with BBQ. The villa is furnished on a very high standard and is very well maintained. We will come back next year and recommend the villa at any time. Thanks to Mirella and Raffaela

Casa splendida con vista incantevole

La casa si trova su un promontorio che domina il golfo di Policastro e offre la possibilità di recarsi in spiaggia senza prendere la macchina. La terrazza è di quelle che non si scordano perché offre un panorama mozzafiato! La cucina è ben fornita e gli spazi interni sono ampi e accoglienti. I due bagni sono entrambi confortevoli e dotati di doccia. La sig.ra Mirella si é mostrata premurosa e attenta alle notre esigenze. Una splendida esperienza!

A wonderful villa with beautiful surroundings by the coast and mountains.

We have just returned home from a wonderful stay in the lovely villa, which is even even nicer than the photos. The house has a lovely feel to it, stylish, spacious and well equipped, with a great veranda and garden. The local beach is a 5 minute walk away and was very quiet. We often had to ourselves afer 4pm. Mirella was available by phone and was very helpful. The surrounding area is stunning with lovely little beaches, mountains and interesting hill top villages. We would be very tempted to return. The Boyes/ Day family.

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of Italy

The house was more than we hoped for. It’s equipped with everything you need to cook your meals and has a washing machine for laundry. There is a large selection of travel guides to help you explore the Maratea region . The house is clean and very comfortable. The veranda/patio has a beautiful view of the sea and its the perfect spot for morning coffee or meals. The little beach is just a short walk down the hill and perfect. The owner and the caretaker are so kind and helpful. I almost hate to share this review, since the area is so quiet and not overrun with tourists. Yet. You won’t regret spending your holiday here.

A relaxing break in an amazing landscape

I had the pleasure of spending a week with my family in Acquafredda, few kilometers away from Maratea. The house is very nice, fully equipped, with a wonderful sea-view, and immersed in an incredibly relaxing natural setting. It’s the ideal choice for people looking for a relaxing break in the middle of an amazing landscape. We enjoyed a lot having breakfast and a few dinners on the patio, and my son loved playing ping-pong on the grass. I recommend you rent a car, so as to be able to visit the marvelous beaches all around. Ho trascorso insieme alla mia famiglia una settimana ad Acquafredda, a pochi chilometri da Maratea. La casa è molto bella, attrezzata di tutto, con una vista meravigliosa sul mare, immersa in un paesaggio naturale veramente rilassante. È la scelta ideale per chiunque sia alla ricerca di una vacanza di puro relax in un paesaggio spettacolare. Ci siamo goduti delle gradevoli colazioni e qualche cena sul patio, e mio figlio si è divertito da matti a giocare a ping-pong. Suggerisco di noleggiare un’auto per poter visitare le meravigliose spiagge sparse nei dintorni.

great holiday home in an excellent location

The holiday house was brilliant - it was clean and had everything we needed. The air con was very useful. The terrace was great with a really large table for all our games and meals. There were quite a few ants and wasps, but I would presume that you would get these anywhere hot - and there was plenty of stuff around to combat them. The location was excellent with just a 5 minute walk through the trees to the little pebbly beach which we loved. It was generally not very crowded and the water was so warm and perfect for swimming and snorkling. It was also useful having the café there for an ice lolly to cool off. I would highly recommend this property.

Just What We Wanted

We are a couple with a dog who like to travel off season. We wanted peace, a sea view and local seafood and we got all three in abundance. The house is of a very high standard, clean and well kept (the caretaker is a lovely man) and well provisioned. The Internet was reliable too. We don't do activities so can't comment on local facilities but there are plenty of local restaurants and beautiful coastal scenery. A trip up the mountain in Maratea is splendid. Mirella was very approachable and easy to deal with, so all in all we highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful setting

A very clean,neat and tidy home with stunning views. There is a beautiful balcony to sit out on to enjoy the views and a small, private beach only 5 minutes walk away. Our children enjoyed playing in the garden and there is a barbeque and table tennis table also on the property. A suberb house in a stunning location and even though Rafaella who looks after the property does not speak good english we could phone Mirella who would communicate to him. All in all a very comfortable house in a great location near many good beaches and restaurants

Hi, I am Mirella; I live in Milano with my family. Milano is a12 hrs train or car journey from Maratea but a night train makes it easy for us to reach our summer haven! Since 2005 we have spent all of our summer holidays in Maratea with friends and family. We are completely in love with the surroundings, the nature and tranquility found here. We still have a lot to explore but what we have managed to see has been wonderful. We are not able to spend as much time as we would like to in Maratea which is why we have decided to rent out so that others can enjoy this remote and beautiful part of Italy, whilst helping us pay our expenses!

Why they chose this property

Despite being of Sicilian origin, another beautiful part of Italy, we fell in love with Maratea because of the peace and tranquility in Acquafredda, a little hamlet of Maratea, offers in summer, the abundance of nature, the remoteness and of course the wonderful beaches. It is a little bit like going back in time!
There are many interesting historical and natural sites to visit in Basilicata and surrounding regions (Campania, Calabria and Puglia) and we still have a lot to explore.

What makes this property unique

Holidays in Acquafredda are simple, cheap and mainly sea or beach oriented though small luxuries are accessible nearby. Acquafredda, about 15 min walk (or 2 min drive) from the house offers 2 larger beaches but just one little shop for food and essentials, a church, a post office and 2-3 restaurants. Wonderful sunsets and sea views at every turn! Maratea and Sapri offer shopping, restuarants and touristic ports . Cosy restaurants are easy to find along the coast, near the Port and old town Maratea, is a jewel to see.
For those in need of pampering, a Thalasso Beauty Farm is walking distance from the house as is Romantic Villa Cheta with its beautiful restaurant. For the lazy, an almost private beach is just a 5 min walk down from the house! Perfect for lazy family holidays.
