Large Family Friendly Chalet With Panoramic Mountain Views
Chalet Le Cretet is located on the edge of the beautiful village of Samoens, in one of the most sought after locations on a south facing hillside with panoramic views of the mountains and the Giffre Valley. From the living room, dinning room, double bedroom and the veranda over there are views of the River Giffre and valley and the mountains to the South, and from the kitchen you have views of L'Aouille du Criou mountain and the the Col de Joux Plane. In fact every room in the chalet has mountain views . The chalet has a large games room on the lower ground floor with a Pool table, Table Tennis and Foosball/Table Football which makes it great for families. The lounge and dinning area are open plan with the kitchen just off it. In winter you can sit in front of an open fire and in Summer you can sit outside and enjoy watching the wildlife or parapents fly past.

Very good

The photos for this property need updating. It does not overlook a green hill, it overlooks a large abandoned building site, directly below the chalet. The property is very tired, the beds, particularly the metal bunk beds, made so much noise we could only have people sleeping on the bottom bunks. The house itself is extremely noisy/creaky and you can hear EVERY movement, throughout the house at all times, especially at night. The wifi signal is extremely weak/does not work and there is very limited phone signal, meaning any work had to be done from the middle of town, not from the property. It was not possible to stream anything, even music. Only one source of hot water can be used at a time, i.e. you can’t have two showers running. On the plus side, the location was good, walking distance from the town centre and the swimming lake and there were amazing views up and down the valley.

Wonderful traditional chalet with modern conveniences
The chalet Le Crêtet lives up to its description as a spacious traditional chalet and the kids LOVED it... especially the games room which left us a bit of peace while preparing meals or in the lounge. The chalet is all wood, so creaky, and noise travels. The grassy area outside and views are perfect. Two super bathrooms and three separate toilets. Everything clean except under beds on 4-bunk dormitory. Short walk into Samoëns to get very cheap and handy shuttle buses to a variety of great destinations. It is in easy walking distance of the Base de Loisirs (lakes, big wooded park and water activities). Criticisms: not enough electric plugs, poor lighting in some bedrooms, dud switch in downstairs bedroom. Not really enough space for clothing in some rooms (downstairs double, upstairs double and upstairs 2 singles...) as most cupboards locked. Dining room benches short and easily unbalanced, so people kept falling off the end! Kitchen not really adequate for 16 people (we were 11): fridge space limited, cooker a bit small, oven not hot enough to cook or grill, hob not hot enough to boil large saucepan or fry. Too many saucepans, but only one water jug! TV doesn't work. DVD player does, but bring your own DVDs.
Well that said, we really enjoyed our stay and when we left, the kids were all saying goodbye to the chalet as to a friend!

Plenty of room in the Chalet for our group and nice to have the games room as well, not something we've had before. The location suited us well, we could walk into the village each evening for a meal (15-20min) with plenty of restaurants to choose from and just a short drive to the ski lift with free parking.
You will need your own car and the Chalet is an older one but that was reflected in the listing just don't expect it to be brand new

Chalet agréable avec belle emplacement.
Propreté a l’arrivée Laisse à désirer .

We had a wonderful time during our stay in Samoens. The house was very spacious, with good sleeping places for all and the garden was excellent for breakfast and diner. We and our 5 children especially liked the playroom. We had much fun with the pool-table and the table-tennis.
The surroundings were perfect for many beautifull walks. Easy going and more challenging. Samoens centre is small, but lovely, with several restaurants and a nice village square. The swimmingpool on walking distance was nice.
The house and the location is really to be recommended!
We, 3 families spent a week in the chalet. It is really spacious and the game-room is great, all of us had fun spending time there, as the weather for skiing wasn‘t the best.
The only negative point was the cleanliness of the chalet. The cleaning lady just arrived at the check-in time and did a very quick clean, which wasn‘t very satisfying. It probably was because of the holiday season, as she had lots of houses to clean that day. But we had a great time, enough space for all and enjoyed the house, as skiing was limited due to the weather. It‘s a 15 minute walk to the cosy town center, cute little shops, a good bakery and a lovely ice-rink. So perfect for large groups or 2-3 families.
We had a great stay here. It was everything we had hoped for and the online listing is very accurate. For our children aged 7 to 17 the games room was brilliant. No boredom. There was plenty of space for 16 of us. Plenty of toilets and nice rooms.
We were skiing in UK and French February half term and whilst it was busy the lift waits were shorter than I've experienced elsewhere. The village is beautiful and about 8 minutes walk away. Bus to the Gondola less than 5 minutes walk.

Thanks for looking, my name is Peter and I live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. My family and friends have spent many fantastic holidays here I hope you do too.
Why they chose this property
I visited the area in winter 2003 and fell in love with Samoëns so I returned in the spring and found Chalet Le Cretet. The views are stunning and the short walk in to the village is always a pleasure. Whilst stood on the balcony sharing a beer with my friend he looked out over the valley and said "you've just got to pinch yourself sometimes it's so beautiful" and that just sums it up perfectly for me. The location has fantastic views and the area is stunning.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy the charming atmosphere of a very special French, Haute-Savoie mountain village. The games room downstairs is great for inter-family competitions or just relaxing after a days skiing, hiking, walking, sun bathing etc.
