Loved the house, only a few issues
Loved the house, the lay out was great and plenty of space. It was really nice to have the pool on a different level from the house with the small kids we had so we did not have to worry if they were walking out into the pool at any given time. The play room that is on the other side of the house was perfect for entertaining. Only two issues of concern: 1) If you have a boat and are wanting to rent this home, you may want to look into docking/keeping it elsewhere. The dock on the property has no room and the owner keeps the boat on the lift and are not willing to move it per the listing agent. P.S. very difficult to find a place to launch the boat on the island. 2) A/C was very frustrating, you can not adjust the A/C to your liking. You have to call the listing agent to contact the owner to "remotely adjust the temp from their cell phone" very inconvenient. Took us a full day to get it situated and then on the last day it was warm again so we did not bother hassling with it.
First of all we are glad you enjoyed the wonderful house on its private and large estate lot. The home is equipped with a new high-end Nest thermostat system. The issues stated have been resolved and revised operating instructions are provided . Boaters have the choice of three boat ramps very close by. One being immediately adjacent to the road where the causeway enters Sanibel. Your other even closer options are up on Captiva. Jensen's and Tween Waters Inn have boat ramps. Here please call the dock master first to register.
Beautiful home with plenty of room; beautifully landscaped yard and garden and screened in pool
The home in lovely and furnished perfectly! Bedrooms were roomy and comfy. Our family of 11 could all sit together at dinner in the spacious dining room. Lots of room inside in the AC for lounging around in the heat of the afternoon while the kids napped, and the pool was just lovely in the afternoon, especially late in the day when the shade covered most of the water.
The extras offered by the home owners, kayaks, bikes, pool floats, sand toys, beach chairs, umbrella, pack and play, high chairs, made the packing so much easier. The beach towels were also a great. There was a supply of "stock" items, like dish soap, paper towels, TP, and many kitchen items (possible left by previous renters, like olive oil, PAM, salt, spices, etc.
Our only advice would be for the home owner to leave directions on the best way to get to the beach. We did find a path through a vacant lot, but wondered if there was an easier way to get there. The beach was fabulous, not crowded at all and the 5 minute walk was easy, just not easy to find. This was the best rental we have ever used! Kudos to the owners and property managers for such a lovely offering!!
A spacious, well-furnished home on lovely grounds.
The size of the rental home was perfect for the nine of us, i.e., the two of us, our two sons and their wives and three grandkids. The adults and our two older granddaughters all had king sized beds and spacious bedrooms. The older children loved the screened swimming pool as did the toddler. The pool table was also a hit. The kitchen had an abundance of dishes, flatware and cooking utensils and a big counter we used for breakfast. The porch provided a comfortable eating area with a wonderful view of the backyard, a bayside passage/canal and woods across the water. Another two porches provided comfortable seating and views. We watched ospreys and pelicans fish and put the house’s kayaks into the water just off the dock. Finding an easy walking path to the Gulf beach was a bit of a challenge. We ended up crossing the road and cutting through a vacant lot a few doors down. Once there, the beach iwas uncrowded and pleasant. This was much easier than trying to park at the public beaches. Space there are scarce. We opted not to use the house’s bicycles as there were no kids’ bikes, we did not have helmets and the road shoulder for bikes was quite narrow.
The property manager was quite responsive to a couple of minor problems - one with a faucet and one with a ceiling fan. The problems could not be remedied during our stay but are in process. We did need to provide napkins, dish detergent, TP, paper towels, plastic wrap, etc. but all bath towels, linens and beach towels are provided. Beach toys, beach chairs, chair umbrellas, a high chair and a port-a-crib were all on site. The washer and dryer were quite useful. We had some very hot weather during our stay. The A/C worked quite well downstairs and pretty well upstairs. It did stay quite warm in the toddler’s bedroom and ours would have been much more comfortable had the ceiling fan worked. All in all, though, a most comfortable and enjoyable stay.
A beautiful property
The house fit our needs perfectly. We came from a week on Sanibel so luckily already had many needed "staples". No luck seeing any dolphins or manatees. (The configuration of the pier/boat made it difficult to see anything.)
The 2 problems were the heat at night. We had to call to have the thermostat remotely set to a lower temperature. Also problem with TV reception.
It's a very nice place to stay. The pool table and kayaks were popular!
The home and property are beautiful We had 10 family members- they loved having kayaks and bikes. We've been coming to Sanibel/Captiva for many years and it was certainly colder than it has ever been. That being said, there was so much to do with a pool table, kayaks and bikes. With the cool temps, the management was very responsive to allowing adjustment of the house temp. The kitchen was very well stocked, linens were wonderful and the whole house was perfect for a family of 10. We loved it and will definitely be back.
This spacious home in Captiva was a wonderful experience for our family that included five couples and three babies... Kayaks on inlets were fun, multiple living spaces, ample kitchen, pool and hot tub all nice amenities.
