About this property

Widemouth Bay, 300m from the sandy beach, child friendly (No pets allowed)

Close enough to easily walk to the beach but away from the coastal road and its traffic, 'Tanglin' is a detached 3 bedroom bungalow on a quiet side road. It has a large garden ensuring a degree of privacy.

It should be clear from the photos that the bungalow is unpretentious so holiday makers looking for ultimate luxury may need to look elsewhere and compromise on location or set aside a larger budget. Tanglin is our own family holiday home and we enjoy comfortable, relaxed seaside holidays in it.

All three bedrooms are at the back of the house guaranteeing an undisturbed sleep for younger children. (Bedroom 3 has a blackout blind to help) There are 'sea glimpses' rather than sea views from all of the bedrooms. It is set back far enough from the road to give driveway parking for 2 large cars though it is possible to enjoy a holiday without ever driving anywhere until it's time to leave. Neighbouring properties have been described by Estate Agents as being "a stone's throw" or 200m from the beach though we have measured it at 300m to the shoreline and timed it about 3 minutes walk. The map shows its position accurately!

Perfect property perfect location

We literally had the best week The whole process of booking to travelling down was made so easy with amazing communication from both Tim and Emma The bungalow is in the most perfect location right on the beach every thing you need is to hand in the property we literally packed our clothes and towels and we’re off on our way to Cornwall We just fell in love with the place Huge thanks Tim and Emma x We will be returning Debs and family x

Excellent location, ideal for families

The location is ideal. It is a stone's throw from the beach and in walking distance to board hire and a good restaurant. The property isn't super-modern, but has everything we needed. It also has NowTV which is a plus if the weather turns bad. The garden is huge by modern standards. We had a fantastic week and were thinking of booking again before we even left.

We thought the website listing for your house was entirely accurate, and we were very satisfied.

The cottage was exactly as described in the advert. Its so nice getting ready for the beach in the house then wandering 100 yards to start swimming and surfing. Then back "home" to shower n change and a spot of lunch. As the beach is so near you can go surfing in the afternoon too. We found a few pubs nearby and the food was most excellent and the staff very welcoming. The key arrived just before the holiday, this was obviously well organised. Also just before the holiday a long email arrived, stating exactly what is supplied as part of the holiday and what you need to bring. As this cottage is only 4 hours away, I'll certainly book again. So a big thank you to Tim and Emma

Great location!

We really enjoyed our week's stay in Tanglin, the location was great - less than 2 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to lovely restaurants overlooking the bay. We would definitely recommend and are hoping to stay again.

Perfect Sea and Beach Stay

Retro bungalow with beautiful garden and few minutes walk to beach. Great access for surf and beautiful coastal walks. Tanglin is exactly as described in the listing. We enjoyed our stay in this family friendly home. Be prepared with plenty of £1 coins for the meter in case of bad weather which we had.

Perfect position

I've been coming to Widemouth since my childhood, and my mother since her's, in the war. The short walk to the sea and local shop were perfect, and we loved the view of sheep, lambs, pheasants, rabbits and a cat from the back garden. So peaceful. The bungalow as very clean, well appointed, nicely furnished and comfortable; on a rainy day we sat and watched dog walkers and runners through the windows! I would definitely go again.

We are a family of 5 living in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. We have 3 children and we generally fit our own holidays in Tanglin around bookings as they come in.

Why they chose this property

Tim's grandparents bought Tanglin as a holiday home in the mid 1970s and it has been in the family ever since.
We have been enjoying the benefits of their foresight ever since. There have been many properties built in Widemouth since but few have that perfect balance of closeness to beach and privacy. We used to enjoy staying in Tanglin as a couple but since having children of our own, we have come to appreciate its location and layout even more so.

What makes this property unique

The garden is massive!
The beach is close enough to walk barefoot to and from.
The bedrooms are all at the back of the house but are well above ground level for even more privacy.
There is parking for 2 large cars on the driveway.
We do not allow pets so you will find no trace of pets in the house.
