Located in a quiet hamlet location, just minutes from the market towns of Matha and Burie. The historic town of St Jean D'Angely is just over 20 minutes away. Cognac 20 minutes and Saintes 30 minutes drive, 45 minute drive to the nearest Beach.

Lovely Secluded Property In Rural Setting

Very nice property with great heated pool and garden with seating area. Very quiet location (which is what we wanted) and the secluded garden and pool are a real highlight.

We had a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing fortnight. The gite is spacious, very clean and comfortable with everything you could need - a real home from home. Lovely pool which we used almost every day. Situated in a small hamlet but only a short drive to the nearest shops and plenty of places of interest a little further afield. Our hosts were next door so on hand to help if needed but never intrusive. Even though the weather was less than ideal at times, we had such a lovely holiday. Thank you, David and Maxine!

Lovely holiday home

This is a lovely house which is beautifully kept and the pool an added bonus in the heatwave. The area is full of things to see and do, and the locals are very friendly.Unfortunately and through no fault of the owners, problems with the VRBO App made communication with them very difficult prior to arrival. The helpline was helpful in resolving this, however, and once our holiday was underway, we had a fabulous time.

Relaxing break

We had a wonderful week in the gite. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We were looking for a relaxing week away to unwind and could not have picked a better place. The weather was warm enough for us to use the pool a few times which was clean and welcoming. We used the garden/patio area everyday which was also clean, tidy and comfortable. We will definitely look to stay here again.

Excellent All Round

From the moment we walked into the gite, we knew we were going to have a fabulous holiday. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The hosts live next door and were on hand if we needed anything, however, the gite offers a high degree of privacy and seclusion. We had fantastic weather and made good use of the heated pool which, like the gite, is much larger than the photos suggest.We have holidayed in France for over thirty years and we can honestly say this is one of the best gites we have ever stayed in. Fabulous gite in great location.

Just returned from a very relaxing fortnight. The gite is lovely - spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything you need is there, with enough for 6+ people. David and Max are lovely hosts: helpful, yet discrete. The garden is pretty and well kept. It offers an appropriate level of shady and sunny areas, and there’s plenty of seating. The pool is securely fenced and was a welcome asset. Being heated meant it could be used throughout the day, even in May. The gite is in a small hamlet with an eco-musee a short walk/drive away. It’s definitely worth a visit and the owners have organised a fun self guided tour. The nearby village of Migron has a small grocery shop and boulangerie which were handy on occasion. The larger towns of St Jean d’Angely, Cognac and Saintes are 20-30 mins away. The coast is also an easy drive. All in all, if you’re looking at this gite, you should go ahead and book it. You won’t be disappointed. If (when) we return to this area, we shall stay here again. Thank you David and Max.

Summer holiday 2023

The property was absolutely spotless upon arrival. We were shown around and it was so much bigger than it looked online. As it was incredibly hot 51 degrees at one point!!) it was great to see that all the bedrooms had their own fan and the boys having their own bathroom was great too. The best part for me was the lovely pool. Big enough to properly swim in but shallow enough so my 20 year old son with autism was willing to get in the pool and both him and his brother learned new skills. It was just for our use which was perfect!! The house is in walking distance from the Ecomussee about cognac ( great little museum and lovely tasting after) and a short drive to the local supermarket in Matha. There is a bakery within a 5 min drive as well. All in all we all had a great week. The owners were right next door but we did not need to call on them. Nor did we notice them as the garden en pool are super private. One of the best holidays I’ve had!

un agréable séjour

Les abords et la maison en pierre sont très beaux. Le quartier est très tranquille, en pleine campagne, mais d’un accès facile à plusieurs petites villes comme Matha, Cognac, Saint-Jean et Saintes. L’intérieur de la maison est remarquablement propre, très bien entretenu. Le terrain arrière est complètement clôturé, de même que l’accès à la piscine. C’est d’une grande sécurité pour les enfants. Des jeux pour enfants sont à disposition. La piscine est très propre et régulièrement entretenue, en toute discrétion. Les propriétaires habitent la maison à côté et le premier étage de la location mais l’autonomie du logement est totale, et ils restent très discrets. Le séjour est spacieux, de même qu’une des chambres qui comporte une salle de bain charmante. Les deux autres chambres sont assez petites (surtout une), de même que la deuxième salle de douche. L’eau des douches est bien chaude et abondante. La cuisine est moyennement équipée. Le seul point faible de cette location est la la terrasse qui est en plein soleil jusqu’au soir et que rien ne permet vraiment d’ombrager très efficacement. A noter que, par rapport à ce que peuvent laisser penser certaines photos, il n’y a pas de barbecue à gaz mais un simple barbecue au charbon de bois et qu’il n’a qu’un simple parasol droit bien insuffisant pour le temps de canicule que nous avons connu.

Nous recherchions un logement avec piscine sans vis à vis, tranquil et tout confort, nous l'avons trouver! Maxine est adorable et Dave très discret. La maison est dans un petit coin de Migron très calme tout autour de quoi s'y promener à pied vous y rencontrer des vignobles, des champs de tournesols et arbustes a s'y perdre nous y avons croisé a plusieurs reprises des faons c'était beau à voir. La maison a tout pour se sentir comme chez sois, les petits détails font les grands. La maison était propre et cosy. Assez spacieuse pour trois adultes et trois enfants de 3 à 6 ans. La cuisine très bien équipée de quoi cuisiné a volonté. L'espace extérieur est super tout juste ce qu'il faut. L'air de jeux est vraiment un plus ainsi que le petit cabanon qui cache plein de surprise pour les enfants et adultes. Le linge de lit était nickel et de nombreuses serviettes étaient à notre disposition. Un séjour d'une semaine vraiment parfaite. Je recommande les yeux fermés. Un grand merci.

Hello our names are Dave and Maxine we moved from the UK to France 12 years ago for a more relaxing lifestyle.
When we first brought our property it was a run down Farmhouse that was used to produce local Wines and Cognac, over the years we have now transformed it into a warm and welcoming holiday home.

Why they chose this property

After many exciting and interesting holidays exploring most of France we decided to choose the Charante Maritime area to purchase our first holiday home due to it's renowned micro climate and beautiful country sides.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy morning bicycle rides up to the local Boulangerie and evening walks down to the stream through the Vineyards and Sunflower fields behind the property. The property is central to Cognac and Saintes which we find convenient for shopping and evening meals out.
