About this property

Secluded Detached Stable / Barn Conversion On The Border Of Shropshire And Wales

The Stable is a detached hideaway nestling on the side of a small, secluded and peaceful valley in rural North Shropshire looking out across the rolling Welsh hills which rise to the Berwyn Mountains beyond.
The sympathetic conversion from a small, traditional stable block has retained its original looks on the outside whilst on the inside it is a modern and well-equipped cottage. The accommodation is light and airy in the warm summer months and the under-floor heating in the kitchen and shower room. There is a wood-burner and electrical heating in the lounge that provides a snug and cosy atmosphere when the weather turns chilly. The Stable has beautiful surroundings and has all the facilities needed for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
Situated at the edge of the owners’ large, landscaped garden and surrounded by woodland and farmland, the property is approached down a private, tarmacked track where there is parking area for vehicles only a few metres from the property. It has its own private, neatly-fenced and hedged garden with several trees and a variety of plants, patio pots and hanging baskets. A secluded patio area, with table and chairs, provides a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the views to the hills. It is an ideal place for bird-watching with a large variety of birds visiting the bird-feeders, which can be seen from the patio or the sitting room. The Welsh hills provide a stunning backdrop for spectacular sunsets and the nights can provide crystal clear conditions for star gazing.
There are numerous and varied local walks from the doorstep into the surrounding woodland and open hills giving views into Wales, Shropshire and beyond. There are also many walks in the Shropshire and Welsh countryside that can be accessed by travelling short distances from the property. Information and maps provided in The Stable give details of these walks and many other places to visit.

I am Jean Blake. My husband and I, together with our three sons, moved to Tanygraig Ucha about twenty-eight years ago. Ten years ago we converted our stable into quality self-catering accommodation for guests so that they could also enjoy the beautiful rural surroundings that we have enjoyed for so long. We have both retired from school teaching and now have more time to give to our eleven acres on the Shropshire/Wales border.
We are both keen gardeners who enjoy walking in the surrounding countryside, travelling and spending time with our grandchildren.
