About this property
Romantic Shepherd's Hut
Your romantic and cosy Shepherd’s Hut, with its own private garden, nestles amongst wildflower meadows and woodland. Located on a 2 acre smallholding, with friendly sheep and hens, Apple Tree Hideaway is in perfect walking country- just a mile from the Offa’s Dyke Trail. You’ll be staying in the pretty village of Selattyn, just 3 miles from the market town of Oswestry and close to the Welsh border town of Chirk.
Here you’ll find complete peace and quiet with just the sounds of the babbling brook, wildlife and church bells for company. You can give the car a rest and explore many wonderful walks and cycle routes straight from the doorstep and you’ll find the village pub, serving food, within just a 3 minute stroll.
There is a Coop and several takeaways in Gobowen, just 2 miles away and Oswestry has everything you need including supermarkets and some wonderful pubs, restaurants and cafes. The town has a vibrant arts scene with weekly live music events, a community cinema, twice weekly market and lots of independent shops. The is also a riding school, spa and golf course all within easy reach.
Apple Tree Hideaway has everything you need for a comfortable stay. You can relax in the full size, comfy double bed or enjoy a cup of coffee next to the log effect heater. The kitchenette is well equipped with gas hob and grill, fridge, sink and plenty of crockery, pans and cutlery. Outside the decking is the perfect place to relax in the evening, enjoying views across the fields whilst cooking on the BBQ or keeping warm next to the chiminea (fire wood provided). The hut has its own compost loo right next door and your private bathroom with large shower and utility room is a short walk away in the main house. This is accessible at all times via a private entrance and is seperated by a locked door from the rest of the cottage.
If you like exploring, this is the perfect base to discover the Berwyn Mountains, Pistyll Rhaedr (Britain’s tallest waterfall), Llangollen with its steam train and horse drawn canal boats, Chirk castle, the World Heritage Site, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the British Ironworks Centre all on your doorstep. And if you fancy a day out, within a 1 hour drive you’ll find historic Shrewsbury, Ironbridge Gorge, Chester Zoo, the Shropshire Hills AONB and Lake Vyrnwy.
Bed linen provided but please bring your own towels. Tea, coffee, sugar provided. There is a secure place to store bicycles. One small- medium dog is welcome and the garden is securely fenced. Self check-in via a key box so you can have a completely private stay.
