Town: The village of Gobowen lies just to the north of Oswestry and with three churches, a number of shops and pubs and a golf course on the outskirts, this is a lovely base with fantastic rail links to Chester and Shrewsbury. The local area is ideal for scenic walks and bike rides, especially along the Shropshire Union Canal, and a variety of exciting watersports are available on the nearby River Dee at Llangollen. Three miles away is old Oswestry, the site of a spectacular Iron Age Hill Fort, while today the town offers many historic buildings and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
