About this property

Charming chalet in unspoilt peaceful mountain location.

The house is located in the NE of France about 6 hours drive from Calais, 1 hour 30 mins from Basel, Strasbourg and Nancy. The main town Gerardmer is 15 mins away, it offers everything: shops, restaurants, skiing, lake etc. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable: radiators and a fire place keep it warm in the winter.
It has got 3 bedrooms: 1 double room on the ground floor and 1 double and 1 twin on the first floor; a fully fitted kitchen; 1 bathroom, and a large enclosed veranda with table and chairs

There is plenty space around the property with different sitting areas. BBQ and pizza oven available.

Very nice and cozy house

We had a very good time in the house. Its very cozy, the area outside perfect for morning-coffees in the sun and for the child to play. The contact with Lydie was very friendly and helpful when there were questions. We would definitly recommend this place.

A beautiful cosy house in a remote area which is a good starting point for beautiful walks and exploration of the numerous points of interest in nature and culture.The house offers plenty of room for four and more people and has good facilities for a comfortable holiday. The style of the house its well to the atmosphere of the area - the house offers some nice vintage vibes - you can feel the history of the place. Lydie is very responsive, helpful and friendly.We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend the house.

Nice house with full equipment kitchen.Good location , 15mins to ski station. The host responded very quick. The fire chimney very cute and nice for winter! One little point is the shower wasn’t enough hot water, need to take a quick shower if u have many people at this house . Or don’t take the shower at home same time. Otherwise the house is recommended.

Lage 1a, Wanderungen und Biken direkt ab Haustür.Leider war das Haus nicht gereinigt, die Dusche verstopft und vollkommen verdreckt, Fugen und Silikonanschlüsse im unteren Bereich schwarzgeschimmeltEinrichtung ein wenig schmierig, eben weder feucht abgewischt noch abgeputzt. Stil des Hauses, eher ein familiärer, kaum gepflegter Feriensitz als ein Vermietungsobjekt, dafür aber mit guter Küchenausstattung.Die Vermieterin ist sehr nett, aber nicht vor Ort, insoweit auch eher nicht über die Pflege des Hauses vor Ort informiert. Die Reinigungsgebühr wurde hälftig erstattet.

Noël cosy au coin du feu

Nous avons passés de très bonnes vacances dans ce petit chalet cosy des années 70 où rien ne manquait de nos années d’enfance! Même les ustensiles sont raccord! Peut être même certains pourraient être changés vu leurs vétustés…L’ambiance etait chaleureuse et c’était le principal pour nous. Il a neigé et c’était très beau, le chalet est bas dans la vallée et la vue n’est pas extraordinaire mais c’était quand même bien sympathique. Avec l’option literie et l’électricité le prix devient très cher . Attention à bien calculer au départ. Pour résumé, un endroit sympathique dans un lieu sympathique et chaleureux.

Le chalet est idéalement situé pour se couper du brouhaha du monde. Grand bain de nature très apprécié. Sinon le chalet est très confortable, conforme aux photos. Cocooning assuré.

Gemütliches Haus in schöner ruhiger Lage

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es gibt viele nette Plätze um das Haus. Ein kleiner Bach fließt durch das Grundstück. Das ist sehr erfrischend. Allerdings mussten wir einige Dinge in der Küche vor der Benutzung reinigen.

Chalet accueillant dans les Vosges

Notre séjour dans ce chalet était très bien, le cadre est idéal pour une escapade en dehors des villes et plusieurs stations de ski sont à proximité. Les chambres sont confortables; l'ambiance générale de la maison est très chaleureuse et familiale. Le contact avec les propriétaires très humain et facile. À refaire si jamais nous revenons un jour dans les Vosges!

Schönes Haus in ruhiger Umgebung

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt. Es war alles da, was wir brauchten. Die Ausstattung könnte mal erneuert werden. Stühle wackeln, nur wenige Gläser und Tassen usw sodass man teilweise mit der Hand anwaschen müsste. Haus war bei Ankunft nicht richtig gereinigt worden. Ansonsten war es sehr schön. Die Lage ist toll. Schön grün und ruhig, "Auslauf" für die Kinder direkt am Haus.

Positives - Location of property is great. Nice and quiet. 15 minutes to ski slopes and a hill right next to the property that my daughter had fun with the luge on. - Cosy chalet. Nice living room and well equipped kitchen - Wood for the fire was free and much appreciated. Chalet was nice and warm - Comfortable beds Negatives - Cleanliness of the Chalet. Everyone's idea of clean is different but for me the basics hadn't been done when you are renting out a property. There were still pieces of food in the sink, microwave and oven. There were crumbs and bits of food down the sides of the cushions of the sofa. There were loads of cobwebs between the beams of the ceiling. The house had been given a superficial clean but not in the hard to reach places. The chalet needs a thorough clean from top to bottom in my opinion. - The septic tank was full and there was an awful smell of sewage every time we flushed the toilet. Particularly noticable in the downstairs bedroom. The owners had been staying in the chalet the week before us and I find it hard to believe that they hadn't noticed the smell. We noticed it immediately upon arrival. The owners sent somebody out to look at it but there was nothing he could do in the snow. We just had to put up with the smell. I think a gesture from the owners for this inconvenience would have been nice. (Maybe not having to pay the electricity bill for example) but no such gesture was forthcoming.

As I mentioned to you we were there the week before you and had no issues with the odours from the septic tank and this has never been raised by previous guests. The specialist has now been and completed the relevant requirements. As for the cleanliness this is the first ever comment of this nature, but I have instructed the caretaker to do a deep clean. I am French and Iain Scottish. We live in the UK. Le Grand Valtin is a very special place for me as I spent all my childhood holidays there at my grandfathers farm ; it was idyllic...We have been coming every year as a family and our children love it as well.

Why they chose this property

The area has a lot to offer : stunning scenery, lovely food, plenty to do : skiing,walking, water sports, cycling amongst others.
The property is in a super location, not far from the main road-easier in winter-.
It is a quiet little village but only 10 mins away from shops ( there is a wonderful baker 5 mins away).
The skiing domaine is 20 mins away as is the lake. Walking and cycling tracks on the doorsteps.

What makes this property unique

The property is comfortable and can easily accommodate 6 persons.
We have lovingly improved it, adding a new kitchen, a new bathroom whilst keeping its French charm ; it is a family home.
