We had an amazing time at Villa Thalia. It's an idyllic place and setting. Will definitely revisit.
The property is gorgeous and rustic with stunning views.
We did trade in our rental car for an SUV to handle the steep and rough hill to the villa, but that was the only small draw back in an otherwise perfect week.

Thanks David, Nothing we can do about the road. But will advice future guests for a SUV.
Myself I have a very old and small Fiat Soleil, no problem!! As long as it does not rain !
Hope to see you again, Anja
We absolutely loved our stay in Villa Thalia!
Extremely private, very quiet, with stunning sea view!
The house and the surroundings garden are like small piece of heaven.
The island is amazing but by far our favorite view is from this garden.
Overall this was the best place for our family vacation ever!

Looking forwards seeing you next time,

We had a fantastic holiday at Villa Thalia. What a wonderful location and Anthoula. the property manager was amazing. To come home each day after exploring the beautiful island was a joy. Sitting by the pool and watching the sunset…. I

Thank you Gavin. Always so good hearing from my guests how much they enjoyed their stay. Looking forwards to have you as our guests in the near future
Villa Thalia is a hidden gem on an amazing island. The villa is full of magical charm, very rustic but the most idyllic setting with the most beautiful sunsets ever!
The pool, beautiful gardens, charming house & a few friendly cats made for a perfect escape.
And Skopelos has lovely deserted beaches even in August. Glossa with its lovely bakery and excellent restaurants is very close by, but definitely a car is needed. We had a fiat Panda for 5 of us no problem!
Thank you Anja for letting us stay in your beautiful home. We hope we can return one day.

Beautiful location
Villa Thalia is a stunning property with magnificent views. We had a wonderful two week stay and enjoyed the location, the pool and the beautiful stone properties sitting in a tranquil location. We did, however, feel that it was misleading to state that there is parking 'onsite' as the actual parking is not at the villa but in a public parking area some way from the property and involving quite a steep path - this would not be suitable for those with mobility issues and is quite a trek if carrying back grocery shopping - thought it important to mention this.
Otherwise, a lovely spot and a beautiful introduction to the island of Skopelos.
Villa Thalia occupies a beautiful location looking west towards the harbour below, the distant mainland, and beyond that, the setting sun.
The villa is in a lovely mature garden and has a perfect sized swimming pool.
We discovered some fabulous walks nearby and spent most of our two weeks nature watching in the surrounding area. Warblers and Nightingales abound.
This is by far the prettiest and most untouristy part of the island.
Our main guilty pleasure was the bakery, Kyraleni, in Glossa. This was only a forty minute walk away.
We loved staying at Villa Thalia. We've called it a "retreat" because we felt it was a great place to recharge. You have the sea in front of you and the forest surrounding the property. All you need to do is to let yourself immerse in the peace of the place.
The North part of the island was a great choice because Glossa (the main village) is a gem that has tavernas and small shops and where, after a few days, we had the feeling we know everyone at the shops and in the village.
Skopelos is not for holiday party lovers. Skopelos is a great retreat away from the big cities.

Very happy to know you enjoyed your stay at a Villa Thalia and looking forwards to see you again.
The view from Thalia's garden is truly exceptional, it was very beautiful. We did notice, however, that the villa could benefit from some updates, particularly the upstairs toilet and the kitchen, which might enhance comfort and functionality. We also understand that encountering ants in Greece is quite common, though unfortunately, they made the separate cottage building difficult to use. We hope these points can be taken as constructive suggestions for future improvements. Despite this, Anita & Graham were brilliant! They were really helpful and full of suggestions about where to eat, hire boats and beach bars and made our stay a pleasant one.
Thanks Anja for an unforgettable stay at Ville Thalia!
We enjoyed the whole family, adults and children, the place is beautiful and directly invites you to relax in the garden with a pool and a view of the sea. The location of the villa means that it is practically necessary to rent a car, as the local paths (to the beautiful Glossa and the port), although we like to walk, are overgrown and difficult to access in the summer (even considering the terrain and the heat). The villa is well maintained, it welcomed us with cleanliness and a pleasant rural atmosphere. Thanks Anthoula for the great service, cleaning including the pool and help with transportation to/from the villa to the port. We have gathered energy for many days ahead, we are still reminiscing and look forward to stay again sometime (even with cat companions)!

Thank you Katerina, Very happy to know, you and your large family of 6, enjoyed staying at Villa Thalia. The cats are not mine, but they know how to find some one who likes them! (and feeds them!)
Hope to see you again! Anja
A beautiful, charming villa with a huge amount of character and lots of space including a detached 'Guest Cottage' with it's own facilities. Aircon in all bedrooms with the lounge and kitchen areas kept cool by the thick walls of the villa. Outside spaces are superb topped by a wonderful pool area. The panoramic views are sensational and include the Port and Glossa. We were met in Glossa and guided to the villa which was necessary given how the villa is accessed. As mentioned in previous reviews the road/track down to villa Thalia is very rough, narrow and steep and not for the faint hearted. Once parked, there is a 100 yard, or so, dirt track to navigate before arriving at the villa therefore this isn't a place for anyone with mobility issues. Having said this, the pay off is a beautiful, private, quiet villa with views that are a tonic to the soul!

This place is magical! We enjoyed every moment there.
The views are out of this world, the house has a typical , Greek character which we wanted. Contact with the host and the property manager in town was easy and straightforward.
The only downside is the fact the house does not have a parking spot and is located on the edge of the steep cliff, therefore you need a 4wheel drive to manage going up ( we had to stop one time as there was another car going from the opposite direction and we had to back up the whole way as our car would not start from the stop position / we did not have 4 wheel drive). Also more difficult for older folks to walk to the house with luggage but they are very helpful as they pick you up from the ferry and show you the way to the house).
Overall this house was a dream and nothing would ever spoil the experience for me!

Thanks Agnes,We are always happy to know our guests had a good time and loved staying at Villa Thalia. Sorry to hear about parking problems..we have used our parking for the last 15 years, but now some one else has claimed it as their private plot and has closed the space.. We hope to sort it out for the future. You are right about renting a 4x4 car, although as I mentioned earlier my little
Fiat Soleil is still going strong, not in the rain though.
Hope to see you back at Villa Thalia in the future,
THALIA.
As soon as we opened the garden gate, we knew we had stepped into something extra special.
The garden is stunning, the views/sunsets to die for & the main house was like you had stepped into an interior magazine page, but homely at the same time.
The house was spotlessly clean, the beds so comfortable, constant hot water, the air conditioning super effective(extra fans if you needed it), the kitchen had everything you needed, lots of books/games, even hats!
The pool is not heated, but you do not need it & it was heaven to swim in & just admire the glorious views.
The Wi-Fi was excellent much to the relief of our teenage son. He loved his own space in the en-suite bedroom attached to the house.
Each morning we would go to the local bakery for coffee & bread/pasteries( they do fab desserts too!) & such wonderful people. We
used the Glossa butchers & supermarket, so friendly & helpful. We ate in Glossa’s fab restaurants too.
The communication with Anna the owner Was excellent. The person who looks after the villa, Anthoula was fab at answering all our questions. She was a complete star when our ferry was cancelled 24 hrs before our departure & no other ferries were available. She acted quickly & arranged a contact for a sea taxi, so we didn’t miss our flight.
The whole experience was 5 STARS, we would highly recommend & would return in a blink of an eye.
Thank you Anja for letting us share your piece of Greek paradise!

Beautiful views and setting. Easy to access the best parts of the island - beaches and Glossa with good restaurants. Villa Manager was very responsive and answered all our questions very quickly
What a beautiful place… Perfect house in a perfect spot on the perfect island. Full of beautiful beaches and a variety of amazing restaurants.
A very warm welcome by Christos and an excellent communication with both Christos and the owner, Anja. We were always very well attended even on the rainy and cold days ;)

Thank you for your very nice review Louise! We love Villa Thalia and are always happy
if our guests feel the same. Good to know that even when you had some colder days you were well looked after by Christos. I hope you were able to use our fire place!!!
Looking forwards to see you again at Villa Thalia.
Everything was perfect about this wonderful villa with lovely pool and beautiful views across the sea towards Skiathos. The villa is well equipped but additionally is full of charm and personal touches. The setting is idyllic, very secluded but only 5 minutes drive from Glossa. Christos, who looks after the property is extremely helpful.
Note the access road is not so difficult, but is very steep and potholed - we had the cheapest Fiat Panda and it struggled a bit - I suggest you get a more powerful car.

Vielen Dank Rita. Thanks Rita, i am always very happy to know when my Guests love Villa Thalia as Munch as we do.
Everything about Villa Thalia was fantastic. Location: it's in a beautiful part of a stunning island, private but not too-remote, and on the best side of the island in terms of wind, sunset, and crowds. The house: spacious and elegant, the garden stunning in size, diversity of plants, and abundance of comfortable places to sit. We used the small pool multiple times a day, grilled in the bbq pit, and enjoyed the companionship of the three relaxed cats that live on the property. Christos, the delightful property manager, welcomed us at the port when we arrived and we're grateful for the care that he and his wife Despina put into maintaining the villa, and their hospitality. This is a wonderful place, leaving us feeling so lucky to have discovered it, and already looking forward to returning someday.
Villa Thalia was just as we imagined it. Gorgeous, beautiful and relaxing. Inside and out was slightly rustic which we adored, this villa would be at home in a Mamma Mia film!
We were met at the ferry by Christos the villa manager and the car hire person, We then followed Christos to the villa. The first time down the track to the villa was an experience and i would recommend a 4x4.
We have stayed in many villas across Europe and as a rule we never return to the same place, this is the first ever that my wife said she would come back. Thank you Anja.

Dear Lorenz,
Thanks for your review!
Happy to know you enjoyed your stay at villa Thalia.
We will definite fix the doorhandles, and give the wasps a holiday.
As for the mosquito screens at the window, previously guests usually would take them out.
However, when I was staying at Villa Thalia in June. there were quite a few
"uninvited" visitors, like tree rats and possibly snakes in the garden.
To be honest, we personally did not see them, but our neighbours did!
In order to keep them out of the house, for the better or worse, i had the screens at the 2 windows
in the main bedroom fixed, so they could not be moved.
Hope to see you again at Thalia,
Kind Regards,
Anja Rowe
About the host
Hosted by Anja Rowe
My husband is English, born in Kenya, and I am of Dutch origin. We have always lived and worked overseas,in the USA, East Africa(Kenya, Ethiopia) and Far East, however, we have made Skopelos our favourite second home. We usually spent the winter months in Kenya, but returning to France and Greece for the Spring/summer in order to enjoy Thalia, at the same time we will be preparing the garden and house for the summer and make sure everything is working in order to make our guests feel happy and comfortable.,
Why they chose this property
We were visiting friends on Skopelos, and enjoyed it so much, that we decided to look around to buy a second home. We found this 100 year old shepherd cottage and had it totally renovated by a French architect. We especially liked the large forest areas, wonderful for walking, and where ever you are one has always those amazing views over the Aegean Sea.There is no airport on Skopelos and we rather like the remoteness from the crowds, even if it takes a bit longer to arrive on the island. Having a sundowner, while watching the spectacular sunsets over the Aegean Sea, Loutraki Harbour, Skiathos, and even Mt.Athos on the mainland is an unforgettable experience.
What makes this property unique
Villa Thalia is located in a very peaceful location, where one can enjoy tranquillity, privacy and seclusion. However, one never has to feel isolated! During the day one can observethe activities going on in Loutraki's port. In the evening the sky is lit up with lights coming from Glossa village, situated on the hillside,as well as from the Neighbouring island of Skiathos. it only takes a short time either to Glossa, Elios and Loutraki to be near the Tavernas, supermarket or the beaches of Milia (Mama Mia's),Elios, Kastani or Perivolou (our favourite!)
