About this property
Period Farmhouse, sleeps 12, large 12m x 6m pool, barn, big garden, courtyard
Restored farmhouse, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, swimming pool, set in countryside.
Completed in July 2013 this fully restored traditional detached stone farmhouse is set on the edge of the small rural hamlet of Cambou and will accommodate 12 people in 6 fully furnished large bedrooms, 3 doubles (one with an additional single bed in the room) and 3 twins with 3 bathrooms, one being en-suite.
La Vieille Ferme has been restored to a high standard whilst retaining the rustic charm and character of a period stone property with vaulted ceilings upstairs and exposed stonework. The thick stone walls and fully insulated roof tend to keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter ensuring maximum comfort. The fully fitted kitchen boasts granite worktops, a double oven with hob, dishwasher, American fridge freezer, microwave, toaster plus everything associated with a well-equipped kitchen including an oak trestle table with chairs comfortably seating 12 people. The lounge features an open stone fireplace, comfortable leather seating, television (with UK freeview box) , round table with 6 chairs and a set of double doors opening onto private gardens. A washing machine located in the utility room. Wifi.
The large garden is stone walled and fenced around the entire perimeter (although not completely dog proof!) with additional fencing around the 12 metre x 6 metre swimming pool with roman steps offering parents with children additional security. With enough room to kick a football and run around, children have room to play.
An open fronted stone barn is situated close to the swimming pool inside of which there is a large extendible table with ample seating and a full sized table tennis table.
Around the swimming pool you will find a paved area with reclining loungers and a BBQ nearby.
A large private parking area with an open fronted stone barn to accommodate a further two cars flanks the garden with outside lighting throughout the grounds, outbuildings and in the private courtyard with outside seating plus the pool is fitted with lights to facilitate evening swimming.
Central-heating affords the property all-year-round use.

The house was just perfect for us (a party of older and younger adults). Very comfortable accommodation and great outdoor spaces too. Lots to see in the area, but without the crowds. Andrew and Diana were very helpful and charming hosts.

Super house, ultra helpful owners and magnificent
We really enjoyed our stay because the house has everything we needed; well equipped, well located, great garden for our dogs to roam around safely, large pool and above all else, the most friendly and helpful owners you could ever wish to meet. Andrew and Diana really are enthusiastic hosts and we have not experienced anything comparable in our 15 years of renting in France.

Fabulous Gite in beautiful countryside
This is a lovely farmhouse surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside. The interior is very well appointed and comfortable - even better than the pictures suggest. The highlight is the exterior with the pool and covered barn which provided us with the opportunity for hours of relaxation and a convivial place to enjoy the wonderful climate, local wine and lots of BBQs

Thank you for writing such a positive review and your helpful comments about the photos which we will try and improve - we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay.
We had a fantastic stay at this holiday home. The location was perfect – wonderfully peaceful yet just a short distance from all the essentials. Within a brief drive we discovered charming villages full of quaint shops, lovely restaurants, beautiful architecture, and wonderful night markets. The nearby river was another highlight, offering opportunities for kayaking and canoeing right on the doorstep. The hosts Andrew and Diana were outstanding – helpful, attentive, and extremely friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure our holiday was as enjoyable as possible. The house itself was beautiful: spacious and very well-equipped, with a great kitchen stocked with everything you could need. Outside, the large covered dining area was perfect for relaxed meals, and we made the most of the BBQ facilities. The pool was great – huge, with perfect water temperature. It also had a gate surrounding it and an alarm, which was so reassuring, having young children in the group. There were plenty of sun loungers for everyone. We also loved the space for outdoor games and boules, which kept us all entertained. All in all, it was a wonderful holiday home in a fantastic setting, and we would highly recommend it.

Fantastic hosts, fabulous time......
Loved it, we have been to the area before, its just such a great place in France. Always looking for a good base camp and this is it, I actually don't want to tell anyone so we can always get in when we want it. Amazing hosts, lovely people, left us alone but were there when needed. Building set up perfect, and so much to explore around the area. Our youngest was 21 and most of us were 49 +....we all had a great time, fantastic local food and wine. Cant wait to go back. Any questions or pictures needed contact me direct....

A 5* Star Farmhouse in a 5* Star location!
We stayed in La Vieille Ferme in June 2016 and found the farmhouse to be of exceptional quality and renovated to standard way beyond what one would expect of a holiday home. The owners Andrew and Diana were extremely helpful and they went out of their way to be as accommodating as possible which was much appreciated as we have a young child of 11 months and with their guidance we were able to visit places that otherwise we would never have found.
La Vieille Ferme is a large farmhouse with six characterful bedrooms with three bathrooms all with vaulted ceilings and there was always a supply of hot water for the showers which is not always the case in rental properties. The swimming pool is large and secured by pool alarms with a perimeter fence and can only be accessed via a childproof locked gate which takes away the worry for parents with youngsters who cannot swim. Most unusual to find a rental property which supplies pool towels as well as bath towels and the washing machine in the utility room was a blessing which enabled us to return to the UK with no dirty washing.
We sat most evening in the open barn eating dinner watching the sunsets which were truly incredible. When it fell dark we loved looking up into the clear skies counting shooting stars and were amazed by the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the medieval towns perched on the top of hills and the edge of gorges.
We only stayed for a week and although the time passed quickly we all had such a fabulous time that we are already planning to return next year.
The locals are friendly and polite, the villages are steeped in history, the river in Varen is special, the boulangerie has contributed to our expanding waistlines, the food and local produce found in the markets is fresh and tasty, the restaurants are inexpensive, the local Gaillac wine has to be sampled, kayaking from St.Antonin down the gorges is an experience not to be missed and La Vieille Ferme is without doubt the place to stay.
Having rented numerous French rental properties over the years La Vieille Ferme is our firm favourite and we thoroughly recommend this property and the kindness of the owners to all future people considering staying here.

Exceptional standards all-round
The property is located in a wonderfully tucked away, but special location. It has the sun in the front garden/pool area from morning until evening when you are spoilt with glorious sunsets. The house is a traditional farmhouse and has been redeveloped sympathetically yet to the very highest standards. The rooms are cosy at night and airy with plenty of light during the day. The communal areas are well-appointed and modern yet authentic farmhouse details have been maintained. Bathrooms are modern with excellent water pressure. The pool is fenced in with a lockable gate and has a sensor which was extremely reassuring with our 3 year old. The outside spaces have generous dining tables, a table tennis table and well maintained lawn. The area is quiet at night with minimal and modest farm noise during the day. The area is delightfully understated with very special towns and cities a comfortable drive away. The hosts are magnificent and are keen to welcome you and ensure your stay is comfortable in every way. We enjoyed are stay immensely.

Lovely house in a beautiful area
10 of us plus 2 dogs stayed at La Vieille Ferme for a week in August 2018. We wish we could have stayed for two weeks, there was so much to see and do. The house was perfect - we ate almost every meal outside, but the long table inside was also great for us to sit round. The pool was amazing, and the area round about had lots of walks for us and the dogs. Andrew and Diana gave us a lovely welcome and were available if we ever had questions or problems. (We didn't.)
Nearby we visited Les Jardins de Quercy, Albi and we went to the fantastic market at St Antonin Noble Val. We almost stayed another day in the area so we could go to the Sunday market again! Varen has a nice riverbank to relax or walk by.

A hidden treasure
That time had come to plan a holiday for 2017 with our ‘bestie’ friends, two families together (8 children in total) for a holiday that was going to create lifelong memories. After many an evening of scouring the net looking at French holiday accommodation we stumbled across ‘La Vieille Ferme’ which was not only available at our required dates, but it was also within our budget. Andrew and Diana, the property owners, answered our questions quickly and we booked. Finally the day came to start our holiday - as we stepped out of the car and everyone started jumping for joy that the trip was finally complete, you instantly felt the warm air around, heard the crickets and looked up to the sky to see the most amazing star constellations including the Milky Way.
The Farmhouse is exactly as described on the web, although much larger than we expected (more than enough room for two families of 12) you could see first-hand the attention to detail that Andrew and Diana had undergone when restoring this beautiful rustic farmhouse. We had everything we needed including a lovely kitchen area, more than enough cutlery and all the usual gadgets. The bathrooms were perfect, tastefully finished with modern shower equipment (nice pressure). We had an amazing time visiting the local towns including ‘St Antonin’ where we spent a whole day Kayaking 10km along the river Aveyron taking in the beautiful gorge backdrop with huge limestone cliff faces that shoot up into the blue sky from crystal clear water teaming with fish.In Laguépie they have inflatables on the river that are free to use. Cap’Découverte, a 40 min drive away, really topped the holiday experience, great value for money offering water skiing, kayaking, toboggan, go karting, mountain biking, pedals, aerial runway etc. Najac and Albi were really pretty and there always seemed to be something going on which made for a nice surprise. You can walk to the two boulangeries in the local villages of Varen and Verfeil 1km and 3km away but will need a car to drive to St Antonin where there is a medium sized Carrefour which stocks most items you would expect to see in the UK.Getting to know Andrew and Diana was really nice and we all felt that they went out of their way to try and ensure we had a great time and on the morning we left Andrew, Diana and Twiglet (their gorgeous dog) came up to wave us off as they readied themselves for their next visitors. We do hope to see them again one of these days, perhaps back in Blighty.

Fabulous French Farmhouse
The farmhouse is exceptional in every way. Everything you need (and more) is there and is good quality and well looked after. The owners, Andrew and Diana, go out of their way to ensure that you are well looked after and are a great source information about the local area if you need it.
The kitchen and dining area are fabulous and great for entertaining and the pool and garden outstanding.
We have stayed in many holiday rentals across Europe and this has to be one of the very best. Recommend it 100%.

Fantastic stay in beautiful surroundings
This is a gorgeous house, superbly renovated and very well kitted out in an absolutely stunning part of France. Andrew and Diana were incredibly helpful and kind from offering jeep tours of the surrounding countryside to expert expat advice on moving to France, which we all wanted to do the minute we set foot in La Vielle Ferme.
Truly a stunning property and within a few minutes of Saint Antonin Noble Val and a short drive to many beautiful bastide towns.
Not to be faulted. A wonderful holiday and we will most definitely be back!

Super house and very friendly, helpfull owners!
We visited the house in the summer of 2017 with 6 adults and 5 children (between 2 and 7 years old)
We really enjoyed our stay because the house has everything we needed:
- Big pool with fence and alarm
- Big house with 6 bedrooms
- Big kitchen with all the things you need to cook for a big number of people
The fence around the pool and the 'built-in' alarm is definitly a big plus point when you have children. The gate to the pool is also a childproof locked gate.
The kids have also a big garden to play in it, so entertainment enough!
The 6 bedrooms are really big enough.
Long story short: a wonderfull house where you can enjoy the silence and the wonderful views!
Last but not least: the owners, Diana and Andrew, are very friendly & very helpfull people. If we had questions, there were always there to help, they were always reachable to give advise.
We have visit a lot of houses in France, and this was one of the best!

Amazing!
I cannot recommend La Vielle Ferme highly enough. We have stayed in this beautiful region of France the last few years, and this is our best experience. Andrew and Diana could not have been better hosts. If they offer a tour of the surrounding area in their 4x4, grab it!
The house is amazing, website photos do not do it justice. Our group consisted of three families and the way the house is designed it is easy to section off into seperate areas for privacy. Everything inside and outside the house is finished to an exceptional standard, plenty of kitchen utensils, towels etc. which is unusual in rental properties.
There are lots of fantastic towns and villages nearby to visit, the water sports and mountain- biking in St. Antonin worth checking out. Cordes-sur-ciel is one of the most beautiful villages we've been to and the closest village Varen is lovely too, it has a fantastic river for swimming in. Andrew and Diana provided us with lots of information and are so enthusiastic about the french way of life.
We hope to return again soon..

Summer 2016
Couldn't have asked for better - the house inside and outside was ideal.
Andrew and Diana were great with info pre- and post-arrival and being so close by popped by a few times to see how we were getting on and if we needed anything.
We loved:
- how well it accommodated 3 families (6 adults and 6 kids - aged 1-6)
- pool, lawn and table tennis for endless kid entertainment
- covered outdoor dining area which encouraged late night star gazing
- beautiful views on all sides of open countryside
- whilst being relatively secluded (car needed) there were lovely towns/ villages in easy reach (St Antonin Noble Val & Courdes)
- local river based activities - we found kayaking and inflatables (life guarded) within 20 mins drive
