About this property

Ainslie Cove: Waterfront Family Vacation Home On Pender Island, BC

The house is a short drive from the BC Ferries terminal at Otter Bay, and is on the water - a small cove that is part of Bedwell Harbour and next to the canal that separates North Pender and South Pender. There is a floating dock at the house that we share with our neighbors. The "beach" in front of the house is accessible at lower tides. The beach at Mortimer Spit is a 10-minute walk from the house.

The house has space for parking 2 or 3 cars comfortably. There is a front patio/deck with beautiful views of the cove, patio furniture, and a propane grill.

Inside the house is equipped with all the necessities, including kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and cooking utensils. There is a TV, VCR/DVD player and WiFi. In a back hallway there is a small laundry room with washer and dryer. A hairdryer and iron are also provided. The water supply for the house is a large cistern, supplied by a well. There is a reverse osmosis whole-house water treatment system, and we provide drinking water in large jugs that fit a water cooler/dispenser in the kitchen.

The lower floor of the house is almost all open concept, which is great for family time together. There is a "living room" section with two leather chairs that look out through floor-to-ceiling picture windows at the spectacular view. An arm chair and a couch complete this area. There is a dining table made from reclaimed wood that seats 10. There is one larger bedroom on the lower floor that has sliding door access directly to the outside deck. This bedroom adjoins a full bathroom.

The upper floor has a balcony play/lounge area with 2 couches. At one end of the house is the Master Bedroom and Master Bath (with Jacuzzi tub and glass-block shower). The Master Bedroom has its own deck. At the other side of the upper floor there are two bedrooms, one with a Queen bed, the other with two twin beds.

We provide linens, towels, and basic supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, dishwasher soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc..

Take recycling to the Recycling Center (note hours of operation). Trash and recycling left in the house may incur additional cleaning charges
Turn off the two heat pump units in the Great Room. Lower all electrtic baseboard heater thermostats to 10 degrees.

Great March Break Getaway

We had a fantastic time in this space. The windows and view were absolutely incredible, we had everything we needed. We loved our little beach - the kids had a great time exploring the shore line and watching the marine life from the dock. We've made some great family memories here!

Perfect place on Pender

This is the second time we’ve stayed in this house of that tells you anything. It’s in such a great location. Amenities are great, fully stocked kitchen is awesome and you can cook just about anything you want. There’s enough room for everyone. Close to trails, the dock is awesome to watch sea life. I really enjoyed watching the otters and bald eagles from the dock.

Stunning views

What a special place! We saw so much wildlife just from the those big bay windows. Seals, otters, eagles, hummingbirds, deer, and a garter snake. There was an issue with the water system but it was quickly resolved and Andrew provided excellent service and an alternative solution while the repairs were completed. We had an amazing stay and our whole family said it was the highlight of our vacation. We will be back!

Amazing stay

We loved staying at Andrew’s cabin. It was quiet, secluded and had the most beautiful view. We loved all the space the cabin had to offer. Our 3 year old loved the little air hockey table upstairs and our 10 year old loved the big kitchen table for puzzles. Hide and seek was amazing in this house!! We fished off the dock and enjoyed the big kitchen. It was such a relaxing perfect vacation spot, we are already planning for when we can return. Andrew was so wonderful to deal with and was even flexible with check in and out times to help accommodate our ferries. Thanks for a great stay!

This property was perfect for two families that included 3 teenagers. There was a lot of room to move around inside and out. It was clean, had everything that you would need and the property manager was quick to reply. Note that water restricitions are there for a reason!

Big House, Great Location

This is a beautiful location, right on the water. The house is spacious and had everything we needed. There were eight of us (6 adults and two kids under 4). The Kids loved it, my 4 year old grand daughter asked me to ask the man who owns the house if we could come again.

Delightful Escape

After a 3-year separation, thanks to Covid, my sisters and partners were finally able to reunite under one roof. And what a roof! We were so delighted with the space when we walked through the front door that we forgot all about silencing the alarm. The house is beautifully situated in an idyllic spot and we often found ourselves transfixed by the view, enjoying the antics of the seals and otters, the passing deer, and the wild fowl. The house is open and airy and comfortably appointed. We appreciated the spaciousness of the bedrooms and the privacy that they afforded. The upstairs loft was a perfect spot for yoga with a view! Unfortunately the temperatures during our stay were a little chilly, so we didn't take advantage of the deck. But we were so busy exploring the island and the trails that we didn't have had much time to relax during the days. We certainly hope to return to Pender and Ainslie Cove in the future. Thank you, Andrew!

A great place

The house is well placed right at the junction of the north and south islands which makes it central for all visits. It's also walking distance from the best hike on the island. The main room is stunning with full walls of windows and very high ceiling. Everything is very well equipped and we'll maintained and we had no issues. We appreciated the vintage video collection as well as Netflix availability. Only little point is that we missed shampoos and soap as well as basic oil and vinegar. They'll be here for the next guests!

Ideal base for exploring Pender Island

We really enjoyed our week at Ainslie Cove. The house is clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The cove and harbour beyond it are beautiful; we saw blue herons, bald eagles, and osprey. A trailhead for Mount Norman and Beaumont Marine Park is just up the road. My family and I would love to stay here again.

The house is all wood, and located in a great spot that gets a good amount of sunshine each day, and has wonderful views of the water. The trail to Mt Norman is steps from the top of the driveway, and Mortimer Spit is close by as well.
