Mountain views (see video), 3 bedrooms, 550m easy walk to beach, 2 shared pools

VILLA PINDARAKIS is a spacious three bedroomed villa with two terraces and two balconies, located within 10 minutes level walk of the sandy beach, tavernas and little supermarkets of Almyrida. It is one of a group of privately owned villas on a site on the outskirts of the resort, away from the main roads and located opposite an olive grove.

The upstairs front bedroom leads out onto a wrap around balcony with panoramic views of the “White Mountains”. The second upstairs bedroom looks out over the two shared swimming pools set in attractively planted communal areas. The main shower room is also upstairs. The third bedroom is located on the ground floor with easy access to the second smaller shower room.

The rear terrace, which looks out over the pools and garden areas, provides a spacious sitting and eating area. The smaller front terrace, overlooking an olive grove, provides a second ground floor outdoor area. Upstairs, the front balcony as mentioned before is accessed through the front bedroom; the rear balcony by a patio door.

Inside the villa has air-conditioning units in all three bedrooms as well as in the combined living room and kitchen area. Wifi is available in all rooms. The villa is well-equipped with cooking, dining and clothes washing facilities.

Off-road parking for a single car plus plenty of space for more on the no through road outside the villa.

Almyrida is located on the north-western coast of Crete and is about 30 kilometres from Chania airport. Car hire and airport transfers are available from the airport. Alternatively, there is a regular airport bus service into Chania and from there out to Almyrida.

Almyrida is a small seaside resort situated in a sheltered bay with several sandy beaches with Blue Flag status, perfect for swimming. The village has a good selection of family-friendly tavernas along the beach front, some with seating on the beach, perfect for a relaxed meal. There are several little supermarkets, a pharmacy, souvenir shops and a couple of bakers.

For the active, there is a scuba diving and snorkelling company based in the village and, in the summer, canoes and windsurfing boards are available for hire on the beach front. There are many beautiful walks in the countryside around Almyrida.

We had a very relaxing holiday in villa Pindarakis. Our holiday was made so easy from all of the villa and local information given from the owners. The owners responded quickly to any questions we had. We used the pools and we were often the only people using them. The villa was a short walk from the restaurants, supermarket and the beach. It was lovely eating breakfast next to the sea! We didn’t hire a car but used the local taxi company for airport transfers, a trip to Chania and short journeys up the hill to the restaurants in Plaka. They were easy to book using WhatsApp. We hired a boat with a skipper for a snorkelling trip which our teenagers enjoyed. We would love to return for another stay.

Fantastic villa in a beautiful place

Just outstanding, highly recommended both villa and location. Almyrida is a lovely resort in a beautiful setting and we absolutely loved our stay. The host is fantastic from booking to very detailed pre-holiday information and were easily contactable during our stay. They also arranged for shopping to be done for our arrival. The villa is as described, the bedrooms are all great sizes and the balconies and terraces are superb. It’s a fairly small complex of very nice villas, very quiet day and night with the 2 pools great for cooling off. Walking distance to the resort centre, beach front. Would love to go back one day.

Absolutely lovely villa and fantastic property owners.

This property is ideally located, when Finella says it's approx 5 mins walk to the beach she is being absolutely accurate. If 5mins is too far there are two lovely pools behind the villa and we had a great time messing around in the water with a Danish family staying in the villa next to us. The villa itself was exactly as listed, very clean, very well equipped and the use of two showers was really helpful. The beach front has plenty of sunbeds, restaurants, a wonderful ice cream shop along the road for young children and for young adults happy hour at the local Almyrida beach resort hotel keeps them happy! Finella and Chris provided some of the best and most helpful visitor documents and information that we've had for any villa we've rented. I suggest reading it carefully, we visited a lot of the places they recommended and we weren't disappointed. We had a fantastic holiday. You can either relax and do nothing except swim in the pools or have a hire car/use local buses and explore more of Crete. Highly recommended without hesitation.

Nice villa in lovely seaside resort

Excellent and helpful communication with the owner before and during our stay. Nice, spacious villa less than 10 minutes walk to local shops and the fabulous beach and tavernas of Almyrida. Two lovely pools just behind the property, shared with neighbouring villas but rarely busy. Bedrooms were all good sizes and the aircon worked well throughout the property. Spacious lounge/kitchen/dining room with two large comfy sofas. We found the screen was too small for the size of the room and the sound quality was poor so we struggled to watch the DVDs provided (and ones we had brought with us). The WiFi signal was weak so we weren't able to stream any movies with the firestick we'd brought. The downstairs bathroom was rather quirky (walk through shower to access cramped sink and toilet area) so we let the kids share the nicer upstairs one. These were minor issues and overall we had a lovely time in Almyrida.

Urlaub mit Freunden

Leider gab es zu wenig Informationen auf ihrer Webseite zu dem Haus. Wir waren 6 Personen im Alter von 65 bis 79 Jahren. Für uns war es sehr mühsam die erforderlichen Einkäufe ohne Auto zu tätigen da der Supermarkt zu weit entfernt war. Unserer Meinung nach müssen Sie angeben, dass ein Auto erforderlich ist. Dazu kommt noch, dass man jeglichen Müll zu einer weit entfernten Abgabestelle transportieren musste. Wir sind der Meinung, dass das Haus nicht für 6 Personen ausgestattet ist.

Please take the time to read our many other reviews – currently all 10/10 Excellent. We were very sorry to read that these guests had such difficulties in doing the shopping and taking their rubbish to the communal waste site. We wish they had told us at the time as we could have helped them with advice on how others, without cars, had successfully managed. In response to their statement that a car was necessary because the supermarket was too far away, here are some comments from our kind reviewers: • Within walking distance of numerous restaurants, supermarkets (22 August 2021) • Short walk to the sea and village (10 September 2023) • It is set back from the town, only a short 5-minute walk away (3 September 2022) • For those who do not want to drive but wish a larger choice of food, it is easy to get a taxi to the supermarket in nearby Kalyves (31 July 2018) • If you don't drive, you can manage well with taxis and the bus (4 August 2018) In response to the "distant disposal point", Almyrida's modern, shiny and underground storage site is located on the beach front beside the tavernas. A 650m (9-minute walk) from the villa, according to Gmaps. In response to their general comments that there was too little information on the website and that the house was not equipped for 6 people I did ask them to please give me more information. Unfortunately, I have had no response.

Wonderful Family Holiday in Crete

We had a fabulous time at Pindarakis. We cannot recommend this villa and the access it provides you to beautiful Almyrida and wider Crete. The villa is clean and has everything that you and your family need for a beach holiday. It is set back from the town, only a short 5 minute walk away, so very quiet at night. The kitchen is well kitted out for all you need for self catering. The air conditioning was reliable. The guide books were very helpful as we explored the island. The complex was quiet and well cared for. The pools were excellent, clean and cool. Great for new or confident swimmers. Almyrida is a lovely village, very welcoming with everything you need for your stay. The supermarket is well stocked with all you need. You can get slightly cheaper and wider range of food in Kalyves, the next town over. We had a car but you could easily get by without using the great local buses and tours that you can book in the village. We loved the villa and are so grateful for our two magical weeks there. Thank you very much for having us!

Super Ferienhaus für die Familie mit Pools und toller Lage

Das Ferienhaus hat alles an Ausstattung, was man für den Familien Urlaub braucht (inkl. Air conditioning). Haus ist großzügig und geräumig und voll ausgestattet (Platz für Koffer, ausreichend Schrank Platz mit Kleiderbügeln usw.), absolut sauber. 2 Balkone und 2 Terrassen boten immer die Möglichkeit bei Hitze im Schatten zu sein. Die zwei Pools haben die Kinder reichlich genutzt, die Fuß weg Entfernung zum Strand war ebenfalls perfekt. Ruhige Lage in einer Wohnstrasse in Fußweg Entfernung zu zahlreichen Restaurants, Supermarkt usw. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen und uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Kontakt zur Vermieterin sehr, sehr nett und freundlich. Finella ist sehr hilfsbereit und kümmert sich um alle Anfragen.

This is a very complimentary and detailed review of our villa and its location. The visitors were a German family of two adults and four children. I have used an online translation site to produce the following English version: "The house has everything you need for a family vacation (including air conditioning). House is generous and spacious and fully equipped (space for suitcases, sufficient closet space with hangers, etc.), absolutely clean. 2 balconies and 2 terraces always offered the opportunity to be in the shade in the heat. The children used the two pools a lot, the walking distance to the beach was also perfect. Quiet location in a residential street within walking distance of numerous restaurants, supermarkets, etc. We really enjoyed our time here and felt very comfortable. Contact to the landlady very, very nice and friendly. Finella is very helpful and takes care of all inquiries."

Fabulous trip

Our family of five have all had a brilliant time here. The villa was perfect, right next to the pool. The kids obviously loved being in the pool all day every day it seemed. Almyrida itself is a great little resort with lots of excellent restaurants - and the villa is a gentle 5 minute stroll from them and the beach. Finella, the owner, was great to deal with and she couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. I highly recommend staying here, and we may well be back ourselves given the chance...

Cool, spacious family villa, well situated for local beach and adventuring further afield

This villa was just right for our group of five including two children. The villa is cool and spacious and well kitted out for a family stay; the kitchen has everything you need for holiday cooking, including basics/condiments in the food cupboard. DVD player and small selection of DVDs helped give the kids a bit of down time, and holiday reading in the bookshelf. The air conditioning works perfectly. And if you choose the front bedroom, the view of the mountains in the morning and evening is lovely. It's an excellent basic base for a beach holiday. The two pools by the villa are ideal for an afternoon's splashing about. During our stay it was mostly families, but also a couple of groups of young adults. As we kept different timetables this was ok. Almyrida beach is 5-10 mins walk depending on how tired the kids are, and there's a strip of restaurants to choose from on the seafront ranging from burgers and nuggets to fresh fish and trad greek food. If you don't drive, you can manage well with taxis and the bus. Car hire from the local firms will help you get further afield. All the beaches were clean and had clear water. Recommended: Kalyves has a pretty, and quite long beach with sunbeds, most places are free-€5-6 euros/pair and will ask you to buy drinks/snacks from the adjoining taverna - just 10 mins away on the bus. Marathi - very pretty, clear, crowded but a lovely day out. Lake Kournas for the turtles - we didn't see them but apparently there they are and Lappos further on for the waterfalls. Take the bus (air conditioned) for a day/afternoon at Chania, which is worth a visit for the charming harbour and old town - some lovely jewellery shops! The owners provide a detailed guide to the house and locality, and were in touch to see how we were doing and there's a local lady who checked in also. We were confident we could get help when we needed. Tips: - get to the beach before 12 for the best choice of sunbed. - shop in the El Greco supermarket for friendly service and broad range of stuff. It's next to the souvenir shop that sells bus tickets. - fresh pastries and cheese pies from the Piperakis bakery - opens early. Delicious. - Butter is pricey in greece. - take mozzie repellant. They chomped a couple of members of our group to bits.

Underbar villa med 3 fina sovrum och 2 badrum, bra utrustat kök. Trevligt område, lugnt och skönt med 2 fina pooler att välja mellan. Endast 5 minuters gångväg till en underbar sandstrand. Många trevliga restauranger att välja på och alla vi besökte med trevlig och serviceminded personal. Finns några småaffärer att handla i men om man ska laga lite mat varje dag (lunch eller middag) så bör man hyra bil och ta sig till Chania för att "storhandla", dock kostar det bara 45 euro att hyra bil en dag så det är överkomligt då småaffärerna är lite dyrare. Sammantaget så var det en fantastisk 8-dagarsvistelse som jag varmt rekommenderar och det var definitivt inte sista gången vi var där.

We had this lovely review from a Swedish guest. I have used an online translation site to produce the following english version, correcting what I thought were mechanical translation errors with additional text [...]. "Wonderful villa with 3 nice bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, well equipped kitchen. Nice area, quiet and nice with 2 nice pools to choose from. Only 5 minutes walk to a wonderful sandy beach. Many nice restaurants to choose from and all we visited with nice and service minded staff. Are there any [there are many] small shops to shop in but if you want to cook some food every day (lunch or dinner) you should rent a car and go to Chania to shop for a big deal, but it costs only 45 euros to rent a car one day so it's Affordable since the small shops are a little more expensive. Overall, it was an amazing 8 day stay that I highly recommend and it was definitely not the last time we were there [we will visit]." It is indeed easy to rent a car for a day or a few days as there are two car hire companies in Almyrida. Also, for those who do not want to drive but wish a larger choice of food, it is easy to get a taxi to the supermarket in nearby Kalyves.

We chose this property because it is really only a very short walk to a very attractive and accessible beach (Blue Flag status) and a good choice of tavernas, bars and little shops. Several of the restaurants allow you to sit out on the beach, marvellous in the warm evenings.

Almyrida is considered one of the best seaside resorts in Crete for a tranquil environment. There is plenty to do in Almyrida itself - walking, swimming, water sports, snorkelling and scuba diving.

What makes this property unique
