About the host
Hosted by Catherine Toque
Hello. I am a breton, originally from Dinan, who lives in the UK, and I work as an environmental scientist. My husband Andrew and I have 2 grown-up daughters.
Why they chose this property
Dinard started as a small fishing village in St Enogat and later became home to rich merchants from Saint-Malo. It was eventually discovered by wealthy English, Americans, Russians at the turn of the XXth Century, by the Parisian elite of the "Années Folles" and eventually became a fashionable summer resort favoured by artists and personalities, to rival those on the Côte d'Azur. High society villas and Art Deco architecture bear witness to its prestigious past. Dinard remains a french and english favourite as a relaxing holiday destination.
Although we live in the UK, we spend as much time as possible in Dinard and surroundings to recharge our batteries. Dinard can be busy or restful at the same time. It really depends what you choose to do.
This is one of the most accessible areas of France: you can catch a ferry or a plane from various parts of the UK, to: St Malo (20-25 min by car/bus or by cross harbour shuttle) from Portsmouth, from Poole and the Channel Islands; to Dinard (the Airport is a 5-10 min drive) via RyanAir from London, Bristol or East Midlands. Other transport options include ferries to Caen or Cherbourg or flights to Rennes. There is also a high speed rail links (TGV) to St Malo.

What makes this property unique
The flat is comfortable, well equipped, calm, spacious and clean. Leave the car on the allocated parking space and stroll leisurely within 10 min to the lovely sandy beaches, but also to the supermarkets, the market (3 times a week) & covered market, the shops, designer boutiques and art galleries.
Dinard and St Enogat are rich in art history and architecture which are best explored on foot. The coastal walk is a great place for a jog, a day hike or just a romantic stroll. Also on offer are casinos, café/bars, restaurants, cinemas, indoor and outdoor sea-water swimming pools, and Thalassotherapy in St Enogat or St Malo. (A sea-bus linking Dinard and St Malo leaves from the quay 15 min walk away).
For adventures further afield, you could catch a bus to Dinan, St Malo or St Briac at a bus stop near the residence, or cycle down the old railway line (La voie verte) to Dinan (13 mi).
With a car, destinations of note include: Mont St Michel, St Malo, Dinan, Cancale, the beaches and villages of the Cote d’Emeraude and of the Rance river.
