Fantastic location and cottage for exploring Baddeck and Cape Breton! Anne Marie is a great host and made sure we had all information needed for our stay. Very walkable to the Alexander Graham Bell museum, lots of restaurants, shops, and the grocery store.
We are sad to be leaving, as this beautiful home in Baddeck already feels like home. The property manager(s) made us feel incredibly welcome. They were wonderfully attentive hosts—thoughtful, responsive, and full of helpful local tips that made our stay even more special. The house itself was perfect for our family of five: spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with everything we needed to relax and settle in. The location couldn’t be better—quiet and peaceful, yet just a short walk or drive to all that charming Baddeck has to offer. This was the ideal base for exploring the Cabot Trail, and one of our favourite touches was the cooler they provided. It made it so easy for us to pack drinks and picnics for our day trips—such a simple gesture, but it made a big difference. We truly loved our time here and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
This rental is a perfect getaway for a family to enjoy the wonderfulness of Baddeck. Very well accommodated for the 7 of us. Can’t ask for anything better.
We enjoyed staying at this great home in the heart of Baddeck. This was the ideal location for visiting all around CBI. The beds were comfortable and all was as described, except that we were expecting bunk beds as pictured in the listing and this was not accurate. If you are planning a stay with children who are very goofy when side by side and sleep better in bunks, check first with the property owner! I would also ask that the property owner check the fans to ensure they’re in good working order and consider cotton instead of poly sheets. Thank you!
We had a great stay here for our visit to Cape Breton. Excellent central location for day trips around the area. The home itself was great, spacious and comfortable for our group of 5 adults - with space for more! Just round the corner from coffee shops, gift shops and close to the pier where there are plenty of restaurant options. It’s also walking distance from the grocery store, liquor store and the incredible Alexander Graham Bell museum - well worth a visit!
The Compass House is cozy, well stocked, and located in the heart of Baddeck close to the water. Great walking area, and close drive to historical sites. The four of us, two couples, enjoyed the house immensely and the beds were so comfortable. And it was well stocked with those things you hate to buy while on vacation like dish soap, laundry detergent, and paper towels.
It’s a 10 out of 10 for sure!
Right in town, very clean and organized. Most beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the little patio out back. When we needed something, the response from Ann Marie and her property manager was quick. Be sure to note that washcloths are not provided.
Compass House is a spacious and comfortable home, in an ideal location in Baddeck within walking distance of everything in town. The owner communicated promptly with clear description of the property, rules and location. There's plenty of room, a great view from the sunroom, and all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
Amazing location - walk to everything! Clean and so comfortable, lovely deck and swing. Had a short power outage but there were lanterns with batteries ready to go - it made it a great night to starwatch on the deck! Owners are extremely responsive to questions. Well equipped kitchen, beds were comfortable and the fans and ac in the dining room kept the house at a fine temperature. A teapot was the only thing missing. So relaxing! Thank you!
House was big, clean and right off the main drag! Baddeck is a quirky little town so perfect for us. Baddeck is a great middle ground to explore Cape Breton as well. Recommend swimming and hanging out for the day at Lake Ainslie (we liked the west side). Beautiful water and not a sole in sight. Jet skiing was a blast as was the kayaking. Museum celebrating Alexander Graham Bell and his wife Mabel was very cool (ie: the Hydrophile design). We’ll be bake for sure 😀
Great location in the village center. Comfortable living room for my 90 year old Dad and a large dining room to host a family meal. We stayed at the Compass House for a family funeral and the owners had condolence card and remeberence for us at checkin, so thought and touching <3 Thank you for your kindness Anne-Marie.
What a perfect location! Close to restaurants, the theatre, golf courses and the Cabot Trail. The house was wonderful - clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. Anne-Marie was wonderful to deal with. Thank you!
The property is well located, clean, and the owner gave us lots of useful info. She was available and we always received prompt responses to our questions. The wifi was efficient and we really enjoyed our stay!!
Very clean & lots of space. Sunroom with bed & half bath was super. Location was perfect to walk anywhere in town. A barbeque & microwave would be good additions. I would definitely recommend this house.
This was my first experience with a private rental of any kind. I’m blown away. My grandmother’s family is from Baddeck, so we love the area. Several of my family stayed together for long weekend. We all LOVED this house. It has classic style but is up to date, well laid out, extremely spacious, very comfortable, and 3 bathrooms!!! The owner was responsive to my questions, very proactive and helpful. I almost didn’t want to give a review for fear too many would find out about my amazing find but I want the owner to be successful so I can come back every year. This house has everything you need. I can’t wait to come back next time!
This delightful, spacious, well-appointed house was situated perfectly, right in the centre of Baddeck. Anne Marie was so helpful and gave us lots of information in response to our requests which served us well. She made our stay so much smoother.
We all loved Baddeck and this home from home in particular! Many thanks!!
Very comfortable home, we were 6 adults and had lots of room and sitting areas. the kitchen was well equipped.
And the beds were comfortable.
