About this property

GREAT PLACE OPENS JULY 7

Kelley’s Kabin on the Flambeau is your deal northern Wisconsin vacation retreat! Our location is ideal. For canoeing and fishing Kelley’s Kabin overlooks a wild stretch of the Flambeau River. A forest of 100-foot-tall hemlock, birch and maple surrounds our very private location. Located within the Flambeau River State Forest, canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, ATV riding, and bird and animal watching are all just out the front door. Fish from our dock; or hunt the thousands of acres accessible from the town road at the end of our driveway. We are a short and beautiful drive of any vacation pastime you can imagine – golf, antiquing, historic sites, entertainment, and even a visit to Lake Superior. Regional fishing and hunting prospects are plentiful. Nearby flourishing towns offer churches, shopping, museums, libraries and festivals from spring through autumn.

Kelley’s Kabin is a unique set of log buildings constructed in the Roaring Twenties. Kelley’s Kabin combines the rustic charm of a family cabin since 1927 with today’s comforts. Guests have full use of all four of our log buildings, You will marvel at the Big Cabin with its 40-foot-long screened porch overlooking the river, cathedral ceilinged living room, massive stone fireplace, two comfortable bedrooms, and fully equipped kitchen. The Big Cabin sleeps six and its companion Library Bedroom sleeps two. The Little Cabin across the back yard sleeps four and features a kitchenette and fireplace. Amenities include washer and dryer, charcoal grill, picnic table, and your enjoyment of our family treasures. Our Bar & Museum in its separate log building features an unusual fire place, game table, antique bar and back bar, and our collection of logging and pioneer tools.

Family gatherings are laid-back at Kelley’s Kabin. As we are on a river, you will not be bothered with powerboats and jet skis. We provide two canoes for paddling a mile of slow moving river from our landing. Or put in a few miles east by road and enjoy a half- or full-day trip “round the Oxbo” through miles of pristine wilderness. If you are more adventurous, take an overnight trip downstream to experience some of Wisconsin’s finest whitewater. The sunny back yard is great for a game of catch, hoops, Croquet, or badminton. We provide outdoor equipment along with traditional board games. Less strenuous activities include reading a book from our extensive library, watching a movie from our collection, or listening to our classical, folk and 60s and 70s rock records. Nights are often cool enough for conversation by either the back yard or river bank fire pit, or by any of our three fireplaces. And we are pet friendly!

Kelley’s Kabin is an excellent value. We have beds for 12 and can accommodate tents, small trailers or campers for additional guests. The seven-night weekly rate is $1015. The rate for the first two nights is $450. Additional nights are $115. We do not charge extra for firewood, using the canoes, or pets. Linens and kitchen supplies are included.

We will welcome you as an honored guest and know your vacation at Kelley’s Kabin will be memorable. Please email or call for more information.

Guess Who's Staying for Dinner
/ My mother and I booked this property to celebrate her 65th birthday, get away from the Hussle and bustle of daily life and to enjoy the peace and quiet . we drive over 4 hours to a place without cell phone service so we could have peace. The day before bill called me and when I told him it would be after 7pm when we would be there he offered on his own to prepare dinner for us so we wouldn't have to cook. That was the last good thing I can say about our stay. The cabin grounds were littered with junk from multiple broken lawn tractors to other items strewn across the area. The cabin had a 2 car garage which was full of tools and junk with the door broken and propped up dangerously by an old 2X4 and there was the main electrical box with no cover and exposed wires hanging out fully open to the weather. Still I am a good sport. Bill had 2 dogs with him who were freaking out when we got out of the car including one who tried to bite my mother. He took us through the cabin. Let me state 100% clearly that this cabin was not in anyway setup for a rental property. the entire place was littered with the personal stuff of the owner. From dirty clothes in a basket to old boots and socks in on the porch. The desk had open bills on it and the kitchen had old and moldy food on the stove and in the fridge. The pictures in the ad looked very different then what we found, for example in the small bedroom one of the 2 beds was broken and collapse. It was after 7 that first night so we felt we had to make do. Sadly the promised dinner didn't happen, what was worse was that Bill, had absolutely no intention of leaving the property. After the "tour" he parked himself on a chair on the sleeping porch and lit up a smoke and proceeded to start what was to be a nonstop conversation that wouldn't stop until we left 4 days later at our scheduled departure time. This guy stayed with us the whole time. He kept promising he would leave but he would never do it. He had loaded rifles sitting out at the house and bullets too. The dock was not there a promised, the bathroom and kitchen was disgusting and we had to cook and clean FOR THE OWNER!! who kept making messes and shared the only bathroom. It was the worst vacation ever. I don't recommend you go there ever. it was a disaster. Plus the roof leaked and there were hunters in the area shooting guns all around us. VRBO should refuse to rent this place

Miss lead by owner
We did not stay. There was no water. There was no heat in bath room. 2 beds were on a unheated porch. Fire wood for potbelly stove blocked the front door. A bear had torn up the door to the bathroom which was off a porch with no heat and was filthy. They were heating roofing tar in the oven. No central heat. I really think you and I were miss lead and I’m deserving of a full refund. We didn’t spend 30 minutes there. It was hard to turn around because of all the junk in the yard. I appreciate your help in this matter. Regards Ted Cooper

Cabin on the Flambeau River
There are nice elements to the cabin like a huge fireplace and long screened porch. However, the place had not been cleaned properly for guests. The sheets were stained and there was dust and mouse poop everywhere. We had to clean with bleach to stay. The fridge was barely working and dirty, including old food. We had to leave one night early as the toilet did not work properly and the water kept shutting off. There is no dock as shown in the pictures, which made using the canoe difficult. The furniture is often old and musty. There are critters to be seen running inside the cabin. We felt we we lost our family vacation by renting this place!

Great family weekend
Our Family had a great time at Kelly's Cabin. It is a sprawling, rustic family compound in the Wisconsin Northwoods. It was a fun unplugged weekend with fishing, swimming and cooking together.
