About this property
Charming Ski-In-Ski-Out Chalet (sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms)
LE BOUQUETIN PENTHOUSE Is perfectly located within 5 minutes walking distance of the ESF ski-school, the local shop and the ski lift.
The Penthouse at Le Bouquetin in Oz-en-Oisans occupies the top two floors in the apex of a contemporary building with direct access to the Poutran ski lift at the foot of the Olmet red run. With wraparound views of the mountains and pretty village of Oz, Le Bouquetin is perfectly positioned to allow guests to make maximum use of the resort and all it has to offer.
The Penthouse has as its crowning feature a vaulted ceiling reaching into the apex of the roof, panelled and beamed in heavy pine. Industrial-style lighting and a stone-surround fireplace lend cosiness to the main living area, which is open plan.
The accommodation comprises 5 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms plus an ensuite shower/vanity attached to one of the rooms. A private sauna, seating 6, complements the après-ski activities available within the duplex.
First and foremost, The Penthouse at Le Bouquetin is a family home, and this is reflected in the warm, welcoming furnishings and personal touches. It is there to be enjoyed, and we invite you to share it with us.
THE SLOPES The resort of Oz is among the most snow-sure you will find anywhere in Europe, being loftily located at 1,350m in the Massif des Grandes Rousses. It links with the popular stations of Alpe d'Huez and Vaujany as well as some lesser-known ones such as Villard-Reculas and Auris en Oisans.
The whole area is well served with lifts, making it a paradise for alpine and nordic skiers as well as walkers. The pistes are distributed across all levels of ability, from nursery slopes up to black runs (of which there are 15), and there is great off-piste skiing too. The Huez region is home to the longest black run in Europe, the 16 kms of The Sarenne, and also the infamous Tunnel, a rite of passage for more experienced skiers. The Pic Blanc and Glacier are at 3,330m.
Oz itself has two main lifts, Alpette, which takes skiers up towards Vaujany, and Poutran, which heads towards the sunny slopes at Alpe d'Huez. Your choice: look out of the window from The Penthouse and decide which takes your fancy on the day!

The apartment is beautiful and really well equipped, clean and had everything we wanted. Communication with the owner and property manager was easy. The apartment is very close to the slopes which made life easy. We loved it

Very Comfortable
Great ski in ski out apartment finished to a high standard. Good communication from owner and extremely helpful house keepers. All facilities 5 minutes walk - if you are looking for party town Oz is not for you. We were a large group of friends who wanted to kick back and relax for a week and we were not disappointed.

A great stay
We were a group of 8 comprising 4 adults and 4 children staying over the New Year period. The apartment was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for our trip. The children were at ski school each morning and the meeting point was a short 2 minute walk away. If we hadn’t had to meet for ski school the apartment was ski out straight to the gondola. At the end of the day we were able to ski back on the blue run and ski directly to the door.
The small resort was lovely with a choice of nice bars/restaurants although they are fairly small so I would advise booking a day or 2 ahead during peak weeks. Being compact nothing in the village is far away which meant it was quick and easy to grab some lovely fresh bread and croissants each morning from the bakery for breakfast and, the children’s favourite, some freshly cooked churros from the main street after a full day skiing in the afternoon.
As the town is pedestrianised you have to carry your cases from where you are dropped off to the apartment building so I would recommend cases with wheels (although there are some lifts up to the Main Street which help considerably) but it is worth a bit of pain at the start of the holiday to be in such a nice location and not to worry about the children crossing roads etc. A great holiday - we’ll be back!

Please come again!
Best wishes

Great communication from the start and throughout.
You can tell immediately the owners enjoy the apartment themselves and consider additional items not normally available in holiday let’s.
The standard of bedding, linen and towels is fantastic, in fact where did you get those towels?
In terms of location, no apartment is very far from the slops in Oz but this one has the benefit of having a great view of the learner slopes and the mountains beyond with a relatively easy ski in out ability.
In short, a great apartment to enjoy this village from.
WHO WE ARE We bought The Penthouse after falling in love with Oz en Oisans five years ago. We have three school-age daughters, who have grown up spending a their winter holidays (and many of their summers) in Oz, and who are not only expert skiers (far better than their parents!) but know the mountain and our little village like the back of their hands. Everyone knows them too and that alone is something to cherish.
Wanting to create a home-from-home, we kept furnishings simple and functional but easy on the eye and above all comfortable. Kate works in glossy magazine publishing and has 2 decades of experience in the fashion, travel and interiors industries; whilst Tim has travelled extensively in the name of business to countries with often harsh and extreme climates. We know the importance of feeling nurtured and looked after.
We use The Penthouse ourselves, for family skiing holidays with our three young daughters, as well as a base for summer hiking. Our Norwegian Buhund, Pepper, comes too, and dogs are welcome in our home so long as they don't climb on furniture or beds, or stain the flooring.
Why they chose this property
Several family trips to the Alpe d'Huez area were enough to convince us to buy in Oz-en-Oisans, where the combination of 250 kms of pistes, great mountainside dining, plenty of sunshine, an authentic village community and - very important - fast and easy transfer from the airports of Grenoble, Chambéry and Lyon, is a winner. It's hard not to fall in love with the resort, where the simple pleasures of a healthy, outdoorsy life are the order of the day and the scenery is breathtaking.
What makes this property unique
Ski-in-ski-out It is within 5 minutes walking distance of the ESF ski-school, a local shop and the ski lift. 45 mins from Grenoble Airport Our chalet building has its own swimming pool and restaurant. Oz is an amazing child-friendly resort with no cars allowed. ESF are slightly cheaper than other resorts and very attentive. Wi-fi in aparment
