About this property

Villa Banditello, secluded, panoramic view over Montepulciano valley.

Villa BANDITELLO, 130m2, accommodates 6 guests. The original building, dating back to the early 20th century, was restored in 1999 according to the Tuscan tradition and outfitted with furnishings from the owner's family.
The ground floor features three entrances, with French windows to the yard. It has a bright and well-equipped kitchen (gas stove with oven, fridge, fireplace for barbecuing), and walk-in pantry. The kitchen leads to a double living room with a Tuscan fireplace at one end, furnished with antique furniture and several sofas and armchairs. A half bathroom is off the living room.
Stone steps lead to the upper floor, which features a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (with bathtub) and a splendid view over Montepulciano valley. Off the corridor, there are two twin bedrooms and a separate bathroom (with shower). Wrought iron beds, rustic furniture, small wooden bathroom mirrors, doors, and built-in wardrobes have been handpicked according to the Tuscan tradition. The house is airy and bright all day long. The panoramic yard has a large iron table and chairs, and chaise lounges.
The house fully accommodates a maximum of six people. There is wood available for the barbecues, public drinking water, instant hot water, dishwasher, and central heating. Baby cots and high chairs are available. High speed Wi-Fi. Mosquito nets for all windows.
** THE PROPERTY **
Villa BANDITELLO is one of two stone houses on the Capanne di Sopra estate. While the two houses are close, their positioning allows for a totally autonomous stay.
The site is located 1.3 km from Montefollonico and 7 km from Montepulciano, in a secluded and panoramic location, with a wide view of the Montepulciano valley, the temple of San Biagio, the summit of Monte Amiata and the hills of the Val d'Orcia.
To preserve the rural character of the estate, we have chosen not to have a swimming pool.
In the property there are 4 cats, with adequate shelter, well cared for and under veterinary supervision.
The property is accessible only through a private dirt road (about 400 meters from the provincial road) in the peaceful Tuscan countryside, with olive groves, vineyards and woods. There is a reserved parking area.
Guest access
The parking area is at the entrance of the property. Guests have access to the entire house and surrounding yard.

A Toscan dream
Beautiful, spacious and well equipped summer house with a splendid view from the terrace on Montepulciano. Very quiet location. All facilities needed available. Two nice living rooms, and spacious bedrooms with bathrooms. The owner (in Rome) responds immediately when something comes up like a wifi failure. Well organized and very hospitable!

Beautiful Hillside Country House
Le Capenne was an extraordinarily beautiful property. We are so glad you opened it to us in the low season of tourism. It was the highlight of our visit to Italy. After looking at the many houses available for rent in the immediate area, the hillside characteristic was one of the traits that sets it apart because of the magnificent view of Montepulciano. Also, the close proximity to Montefollinico and it's very good restaurants was a surprise. La Botte Piena was superb, and we received a great recommendation from Francesco to purchase bistecca from the butcher in Montefollinico, and then we used your wood fired grill in the kitchen to cook. It was so much fun. You and your family have a very special place and we appreiate that you opened it to our family. Our memories will last a lifetime.

Just what you need ...
... when you are expecting to spend a gorgious time in Middle-Tuscany: Montepulciano always in sight, out in nature, below a quiet, typical hill town, Montefolonico, an hour-long hike away from Montepulciano and, of course, enough places to visit in the area anyway. The house (Banditello) is beautiful inside and out, and offers all amenities at a very high standard, but spares you tv or pool. We had a perfect vacation!

Incredibly Beautiful House
When the gravel track road opened up onto Villa Banditello my first reaction was that this must be paradise. The house is completely off the beaten track positioned in its own beautiful and large garden that spills out into the olive groves and vineyards surrounding the property and further down into the valley below. The grounds are storybook picturesque with nothing obstructing the view and on the hill opposite the garden you have the hilltop town of Montepulciano. I don't normally splurge but this house is something else. The interior is large and comfortable, tastefully (and it seems, lovingly) furnished by the owners. The bed was comfortable, the linens and towels spotlessly clean, the bathrooms large, the living rooms (there are actually two of them) airy and very comfortable. The furniture was not the eclectic assortment that you sometimes find in vacation rentals. It was in character with the house and some of the pieces are of the type you see in antique stores in Tuscany and wish you could carry away with you. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking at home, the stove is large and modern and it is supplied with much more than the bare essentials. We are hikers and there is no shortage of beautiful hiking trails (the white trails of Tuscany) in the area. There is an abundance of beautiful hill towns to visit in the area, but we also took day trips to Florence (under an hour and a half by car) and visited Umbria. To top it all the owners, Michele and Cristina, are the perfect hosts. We were lucky to have had the opportunity to meet them in person and they gave us the feeling that we were indeed their guests rather than random renters. We had a wonderful stay in this very special house and are certain that we shall return.

We bought the property more than 20 years ago. We have done a big restauration work, in several installments. Planted olive trees and more wine. Reshaped the cellar, we make wine and oil for the family and guests, not a commercial production. We are retired, an ex computers systems manager and a librarian archeologist.

Why they chose this property

Secluded location in unmatched historical and agricultural territory. Historical and cultural sites nearby include Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino and Val d'Orcia (UNESCO World Heritage List), Cortona, Chiusi, Monte San Savino, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia and Lake Trasimeno which are all within 75 minutes drive. The thermal spas and bathing at Chianciano, Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo and Rapolano are no more than half an hour's drive away. There are three swimming pools within 10 kilometers and tennis courts, horseback riding and mountain biking are nearby.

What makes this property unique

Best fitted for people looking for history, arts, good food and nature. The farm offers a preserved country environment and social relations.
