Tranquil haven in the Perigord National Park - stunning detached renovated barn

Charming home from home gite in the heart of the French countryside, nestled within the ‘Parc Naturel Limousin Perigord’, on the border of Haute Vienne/Dordogne. Large 3 bedroomed barn conversion set in idyllic private grounds with 5 acres of private woodland to explore. Whether you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday off the beaten track, a base from which to explore the beautiful French countryside or house hunting, this comfortable gite is ideal. Sleeping up to 8 people, 2 double rooms with ensuites and 1 bedroom with twin beds and bunkbeds. Shops, supermarkets, fuel, banks etc are only 10 minutes drive away. Lovely winding country roads to explore either walking or cycling. There are lots of activities within ½ hour by car, ie caves, chateaux, horse riding, lakes, adventure parks, paintball, etc, a comprehensive publicity brochure is provided on site and we are only 10 minutes away from the famous Wednesday morning Piegut market. If you are an antique lover or just love a bargain, during the summer months there is always a vide grenier nearby and in the evenings there are weekly markets where you can choose your meal from local produce, have it barbecued and enjoy with a bottle of beer/wine, often to the sound of a live band, what more could you ask for. Failing that you can just chill at the gite, have a barbecue, enjoy a dip in the pool or a laze in the hot tub. You can do as much or as little as you wish. Owner on site in adjacent property but the gite and pool are completely separate.
Gite - facilities:
Kitchen - fully fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven, microwave, basic provisions provided, ie coffee, tea, cooking oil etc. COMPLIMENTARY WELCOME PACK ON ARRIVAL (bottle of wine, bread etc).

Downstairs family bathroom, with corner bath.
Free Wifi, English freesat TV in lounge, French TV in lounge, DVD player in lounge, selection of DVDs available.
Bedroom 1 – double bed + ensuite.
Bedroom 2 – 2 single beds + bunkbeds.
Bedroom 3 – super king bed + ensuite.
Cot, high chair and baby gate available on request.
Selection of books and board games provided.
Bed linen, towels and tea towels provided. (Please bring your own towels for the pool)

Wonderful stay

The gite is perfect for families with plenty to do for children and adults at the property, and is located well for exploring the region. This was our second visit and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the area.Dave and Kathleen are great hosts who were quicl to communicate and help us with advice on the area and accommodating to us.

Wonderful little gite with fantastic hosts

Fantastic gite with plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax and enjoy. We all enjoyed the pool, trampoline, tennis and badminton during the day and the hot tub was a lovely evening luxury. Near enough to the supermarkets and close by some lovely places to visit. Very relaxing holiday and can’t wait to visit again! Thank you!

Every was perfect! Owners, Kathy and Dave have made a perfect place for famillys with kids. There are many things to do in the garden which is really beautifull, Ping pong, SPA, badbimton...and the house is amazing! Thanks a lot for this great week-end.

We had a wonderful time at Dave and Kathy's beautiful gite. The gite was very well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The surroundings were idyllic the only noise coming from the wildlife. 2 weeks was just not enough. Hopefully we will return again next year

Everything a family could need

The house was perfect for a family of four. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space for our young children; they loved the toys and activities set up in the garden and there were plenty of indoor games/toys if we had ever needed. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with 2 ensuites and a family bathroom downstairs. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment and house was very clean throughout. The location is extremely secluded and peaceful but plenty of towns and villages and activities within a 30 minute drive. Kathy and Dave were lovely hosts, welcoming and helpful both in getting us settled in and providing advice and tips whenever we asked. A brilliant stay.

All we could have wanted

And much more! This is an immaculate and very well equipped gite. Everything you need if you have a family is here. Our girls were keep well entertained with the pool, hot tub and outdoor toys. There’s also toys and books inside too! Dave and Kathy are perfect hosts and obviously take much pride in their gite - and so they should as it’s beautiful! Places around the area we enjoyed were the Piegut market on Wednesday, the Lake at St Estephe and Brantome. We would definitely recommend the Dordogne for a family holiday and would hopefully be able to return to Gites Les Montades - thank you!

Superb

The Les Montades gite is a real gem. Beautifully decorated and furnished with great facilities. We stayed for a week with our two daughters and some friends, and had a fantastic time. The pool provided the ideal place to cool off after a hot day sightseeing in the area and the hot-tub was great for evening relaxation. We all enjoyed the badminton and table tennis. What was particularly impressive was the attention to detail - e.g. the comprehensive folders of local information (including extra copies of information leaflets to take out and about). The owners, Kathy and Dave were so friendly and helpful. I had to see a doctor during our stay and they couldn't have been more supportive, even offering to accompany me if I'd needed it. Thoroughly recommended!

Beautiful house in a beautiful area!

We stayed at the property in July 2024 for a week after spending a previous week in the Loire. This is such a lovely property and the hosts are friendly, kind and while their property is next door, the gite is completely private. The communication was excellent and as soon as we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown around. The gite has everything you could need and is spotless. The owners take great pride in providing a comfortable and relaxing stay. The garden is really big and we spent some days at home in the pool, making use of the badminton and football net - and of course the hot tub in the late evenings. We celebrated our wedding anniversary while we were there and the complimentary bottle of wine was very welcome! In the local area there is much to see and do, ranging from markets to the local lake which has an amazing beach with lovely soft sand, snack bar and activities such as paddleboarding. A lot of things are only a short drive away. The children really loved the treetops climbing - and zip-lining over a big lake! We also visited Limoges and other towns; it was so picturesque driving through the countryside. The owners were great in recommending places to go too/to answer any questions. All in all we had a great time here; it was really relaxing but at the same time close enough by car to a variety of places to visit. We would definitely return! Nous avons passé un très bon séjour chez Kathy et Dave malgré le manque de soleil. Le gîte est superbe et vraiment bien équipé. Il est également d’une propreté irréprochable. Les enfants ont énormément profité des différentes jeux mis à leur disposition (trampolines, table de ping-pong, terrains de badminton et de foot, balançoires, ...). Nous espérons pouvoir revenir peut-être pour un séjour un peu plus long...

Hi, we are Kathy and Dave Edwards. We moved to south west France in 2016 having bought an old house in the Parc Naturel Limousin Perigord, on the border of Haute Vienne/Dordogne. It came with acres of woodland and two separate cottages with adjoining barns.
So, we decided that we would renovate one of the cottages and its barn and turn them into a Gite which other people could rent and enjoy for a week or more to experience the relaxed lifestyle of rural France in our peaceful corner of this lovely country. We have done all the building work inside ourselves, it has been quite a challenge but the reward of seeing the beautiful property it has become are immense. The renovation is sympathetic and to a high standard.
Our time here has been quite a journey for us, faced with a new country, a new language, a different pace of life, not to mention getting used to driving on the right-hand side of the road. We are blessed in that we have lovely neighbours who have helped us and we have made some wonderful friends.
We look forward to welcoming you to our gite very soon.
