Great stay at Myrtle Cottage

We found Myrtle Cottage extremely clean and tidy.Everything we needed was at hand and the location was perfect for us. The local pub is a short walk and they serve great food and are dog friendly which is just what we wanted. Although we always eat out except for breakfast, there seemed to be loads of utensils for cooking and eating at the cottage. We would definitely recommend Myrtle Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and restful holiday. The outside space is every bit as impressive as indoors with plenty of seating and a gas barbeque.

Lovely cottage in Friston

We really enjoyed our Easter holiday at Myrtle Cottage. A particular highlight is the kitchen area and the sunny terraced garden. Would recommend.

Return visitor - same excellent holiday

This was our second time staying at Myrtle Cottage and it was just as fabulous as our first holiday in Sep 21. The cottage is perfectly positioned for short drives to Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Southwold and the other lovely coastal locations of Suffolk. We took our dog and thoroughly enjoyed the coastal and country walks available. I would definitely use Myrtle Cottage again if we return to Suffolk in the future.

Beautiful cottage in central location

Myrtle cottage mixes classic cottage feel and modern features exquisitely. Set in a wonderful location, near to some of the most picturesque parts of Suffolk, it is an ideal holiday cottage. The great local pub is only 300m walk away and Aldeburgh is just a 5 minute drive. Parking is a bit awkward, but it is only a 20m walk along a nice path before you enter the wonderful front garden of the cottage. This cottage is so good we have already booked again for next year. Highly recommended.

A very comfortable and enjoyable stay

This is a unique property, nicely converted from what was a small cottage into an easy-living space that combines original features with the convenience of modern living. It would comfortably accommodate six adults in the three bedrooms and two bathrooms and with only two of us staying, we had plenty of space. The garden and outside spaces are very well designed and maintained, although the largely unguarded drop from the upper level at the back did cause us some initial consternation about the safety of our dogs. They and we got used to it but parents would need to be vigilant.

A hidden gem

Myrtle cottage is hidden down a little path from a typical Suffolk church. You enter through a beech archway into a small but perfect garden . The cottage is cosy at the front and then opens out into a light filled kitchen and dining area. We were able to have breakfasts and evening drinks on the raised patio area at the back whilst listening to the birds sing. The cottage doesn’t feel like a holiday rental but a much loved home with lovely crockery and books and ornaments which have been bought for love rather than merely to decorate. Unfortunately one of our party ended up in hospital whilst we were there and the small community around us were amazing in their care and concern, particularly Mike who drove us to hospital. It is heartening to know these kind people still exist. When the owner found out he immediately offered to drive over an hour to us if there was anything he could do. Thank you to all those wonderful people who made a difficult time more than bearable. When our friend’s leg is mended we hope to come back again and fully enjoy the charms of Myrtle cottage.

A very comfortable and visually appealing cottage in a perfect location

A lovely cottage in a nice, quiet location with very friendly locals. A very pretty 5 minute walk down Church Path to the local pub. Very well located for Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, RSPB Minsmere, Sutton Hoo, Rendlesham forest, Orford Ness, Southwold etc. A high-end, picturesque cottage and garden, very comfy with a nice mix of traditional and modern furnishings. It was nice to have the opportunity to sit outside on the patio. A weather related issue we had with the cottage was quickly and efficiently dealt with by the owner. We would certainly return to the cottage and would recommend it to others.

Myrtle Cottage the perfect Suffolk Hideaway

After the year we have all had this was a special break for my parents-in-law. On arrival Mrs Flower, my mother-In-law, asked me if we were in the right cottage. The smile on her face was a delight. Location is very good, with Saxmundham only a short drive away for your food shop, Waitrose and Tesco. Plus an excellent Fish n Chips Take-Away on the main high street. Amazing butchers in Aldeburgh, Salter and King. Plus the Noon tarts from the Smoke House, just perfect. The front garden is just beautiful and the perfect spot for a sundowner, weather permitting. But we did manage on most days. I look forward to returning with my parents as I know they will love it just as much as Mrs Flower.

Great holiday retreat

Cottage is lovely inside and out being very bright & sunny and in such a quiet location where all you can hear is birdsong whether you are sitting in the garden or walking the fields that surround the village. It’s also convenient to be such a short car journey to the sea. Will definitely be going to this holiday cottage again.

Outstanding!

Myrtle is a lovely cottage in a beautiful place. The kitchen is a wonderful place to start the day, with a coffee, no matter what the weather is like. One of the best places I have stayed in the UK.

Stylish cottage

A lovely, tastefully decorated cottage with everything provided for a comfortable stay. Lots of artwork and small thoughtful touches added to the feel of the cottage. The front garden was beautifully designed and I appreciated eating breakfast outside on the bench. There was a large outdoor terrace at the back where we enjoyed evening meals. It felt very private. The large bed was comfortable and we felt snug at night in the lounge watching TV. The large kitchen was very well equipped and the flowers and bottle of wine gave us a nice welcome. My husband did hit his head on the low doorways, but it's a traditional cottage....... The weather was warm when we were there and we did find it rather uncomfortable to prepare lunch or to sit at the large table. We opened the door, windows and vents and then had to deal with the insects. A fan would have provided a short term solution. A lovely place to stay, with a helpful neighbour, and some interesting places to visit. Impressive.

Cost comfy cottage

A very well equipped cottage, with everything we needed. Good location for exploring Suffolk. Open fire was lovely and a great comfy super king bed. Garden well designed. Parking was a little difficult, but we managed to find a spot. Heating was efficient if a little difficult to master. Toiletries a nice touch . We really enjoyed our stay and would return

A short stay over New Year's Eve

Excellent cottage, comfortable, good base for exploring and quiet - except at midnight on New Year's Eve when, tucked up in bed by 10.30pm, we were awoken by midnight fireworks next door. All part of the experience!!

Myrte Cottage

Whilst no expense had been spared on the interior design and furnishings, we did find the island in the kitchen somewhat too long. The sink side has the dishwasher and oven and the other side contained all the crockery/cooking utensils/cutlery, so was quite a regular walk all the way round the island to get kitchen equipment out. Every conceivable kitchen gadget was there. We did want to do a quick wash one day but the washer/dryer was so complicated and the instruction leaflet didn;t make anything any clearer All in all wedid have a lovely few days there and the flowers, wine and White Company goodies on arrival were a very pleaant surprise. We also thought the wet room with the toilet was not very wel planned as if you needed the toilet, the floor was soaking wet and slippery... We did think for the time of year, the house was a llittle on the high side but I did need everything to be on one level as I am disabled so our choice was very limited.

The great escape !

Myrtle cottage was perfect . Clean, comfortable, stylish and beautifully furnished with great attention to detail .The location was excellent, very near to Aldeburgh, yet quietly tucked away behind the village green at Friston. It was really handy to have the green so near to the cottage for the children to play games .Great space inside and out to sit and eat . Wonderful design of outdoor space and a beautiful front garden .

A lovely, well equipped and relaxing place to stay , thoroughly recommend it !

We spent the most enjoyable week staying at Myrtle Cottage. It was well equipped, beautifully clean with lovely touches from a welcoming bouquet of flowers, card and bottle of wine to ice cubes in the fridge - it was a hot week ! There was plenty of information about the property, how to use all the appliances and a great selection of DVDs, books and games - we really enjoyed re-visiting the whole series of Sharpe ! It was good to know upfront that parking could be tricky and it was but we managed and a lovey chap called Mike who does the garden was really helpful on that front. There was also plenty of information about the local area and it is in such a great position , near the coast and near a Waitrose - who could ask for more on a holiday !

Fun in Friston

We had a great week at Myrtle Cottage, the amazing weather helped. The cottage had everything we needed. Great for a couple or a family with small children. The conservatory area was fantastic with lots of natural light although quite hot in this glorious sunny weather. Location is great as its very peaceful and quiet. Garden's and upper patio are lovely. Local pub was friendly but food was a bit hit and miss. The local area offered great walks, further afield Aldeburgh, Dunwich Beach and Soutwold & Snape Maltings all provided interesting trips out. I would definitely recommend the cottage.
