About this property

Sandpipers, Brancaster, Norfolk

A beautifully curated, spacious end terrace cottage, Sandpiper boasts some of the best panoramic views across the expansive saltmarshes of Brancaster. Perfectly located for sailing, paddleboarding, taking a boat trip, exploring the beaches, and indulging in culinary delights, this timeless hideaway is an idyllic base from which to enjoy a true Norfolk experience.

Beautifully furnished to a high standard with flair and imagination, Sandpiper showcases some exquisite lovingly refurbished vintage pieces. After a day spent exploring the big outdoors, nestle into the comfort of the sitting room as the cosy wood burning stove fills the room with warmth and ambient light. Watch the saltmarsh landscape change as the light fades, as wine, food and conversation is shared around the dining table long into the evening. With an irresistible selection of seasonal local produce available on the doorstep, the spacious, well-equipped kitchen provides everything any enthusiastic chefs might need. If dining out is the preference, Brancaster is home to two exceptional gastropubs, which are both within walking distance.

Upstairs, the dual aspect master bedroom hosts a double bed with views across the saltmarsh to the sea beyond. Bedroom two offers twin beds, with bunk beds provided by bedroom three. A fourth bedroom hosts a single bed with comfortable full-sized trundle bed. A good-sized family bathroom offering bath with shower over serves these bedrooms, with an additional contemporary shower room featuring walk-in rainfall shower located on the ground floor.

Outside, an impressive lawned garden enjoys uninterrupted views across the saltmarsh, and also features direct access to the coastal path. Being fully enclosed, this is a great space for supervised dogs and children to play safely. When the sun is shining, the barbecue beckons for al fresco dining around the outdoor table. Tranquil and calming, the garden invites guests to unwind with a coffee or a carafe of wine, as birdsong fills the air. The garden is frequently visited by the local wildlife at dawn and dusk, including deer, rabbits and a multitude of birds. There is ample off road parking for up to three cars is available.

superb stay at Sandpipers

We spent a great few days at Sandpipers. It was very clean and warm with plenty of hot water (we were a party of 8). The location is fantastic with walks straight from the door. It was the perfect place to take our dog with the enclosed garden (large) and straight on to the salt marshes and coastal path. Fab pubs a few minutes walk away: Jolly Sailor especially good for the kids. The White Horse was good too but our kids like pizza! There was plenty of room for 2 families and the kitchen was well equipped. The only drawback was there was only 1 double room, the others were twins or bunk beds. Really good supermarket 5 mins walk away too, along with a few nice shops. A winner!

Excellent location and outstanding views

A well-appointed cottage with outstanding views and which is ideally located for exploring this part of Norfolk (including houses and monuments, nature reserves and the coast). It also has immediate access to the coastal path. Another bonus is the cottage's proximity to local shops (including a petrol station) and two pubs (with the White Horse, just a few doors away) ideal for that special lunch or dinner!

Winter break in Brancaster Staithe

The setting was perfect. The main rooms were dominated by the spectacular uninterrupted view across the marshes to the sea and there was direct access to the coastal path. Sadly on arrival the house was cold and half the downstairs electrics had fused. There were issues with the key. The front door was unlocked when we arrived and there was a discrepancy about where it was between the emailed details of the key safe and the information book in the house. The handyman sent from Norfolk hideaways was outstanding and sorted the issue with the electrics swiftly having located the offending appliance and reset the heating so that we could warm up by bedtime. There were no further issues and we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of Sandpipers.

Great location but a little dated

Perfect location but a little dated. Would be nice to have some decent wine / champagne glasses etc. Pans all lost non stick element so felt a bit of a student kitchen. Sofas not hugely comfy. Beds very comfy.

Sandpipers - great location but poor standard of cleanliness and condition

When we arrived, having accessed the key, we were unable to open both the main door and patio doors and had to contact the office at Burnham Deepdale for assistance. A maintenance man came out and could not open the main door but was able to open the patio door with difficulty. We had to request a call out again on Monday, in fact every time we went out we had the worry of whether or not we could open the patio door. The locks were finally fixed on Wednesday afternoon, after we had called Norfolk Hideaways a third time on Wednesday morning. Some examples of things we found disappointing were as follows: dead flies all over the window sills dirty microwave dirty pots and pans no kitchen cloth of any kind several chipped china items the vacuum cleaner did not work the information folder contained leaflets dated 2015 and hadn’t been updated peeling paint on windows and walls shower panels coming away from the wall Some of the bed linen appeared to be two sheets machined together to make a duvet cover and none of the linen was those in the photos– not the standard one would expect of renting a Hideaways property. There was no usual Norfolk Hideaways welcome pack, i.e. teabags, coffee sachets, milk or biscuits. We were shocked that Norfolk Hideaways let out a property in such a condition. It is quite obvious it had not been checked throughout. I have used Norfolk Hideaways for several years and it was most disappointing and not to the usual standard of accommodation we expect from them.

A view to remember

A very comfortable and spacious with a wonderful view from the living room and the large bedroom. Very well equipped and furnished. Access to the coastal path at the bottom of the large lawned garden. Lovely pubs and shops close by. Superb sunny weather helped to make our stay a memorable one.
