About this property
Pretty Provencal house with private swimming pool & gardens near to the village
Chez-Provence has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, conservatory, large private swimming pool in terraced gardens.
The substantial private gardens are on several terraces with panoramic views across the Provencal countryside. There are four terraces connected by steps. There is a small lily and fish pond on one terrace and below is a good-sized swimming pool. Olive trees are growing throughout the gardens as well as mature trees, shrubs and flower beds. To the back of the house are two entrance drives, a car port and an atelier. The property is gated and entirely private.
Chez-Provence has three bedrooms, a dining room seating up to six, and adjacent kitchen overlooking the pretty gardens. There is a large living room with comfortable sofas seating up to six people; and a large conservatory with sofa and table. To the rear of the house are two double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, and a third bedroom with two single beds. There is also a main family bathroom.
Cotignac is one of the prettiest small towns in Provence. Built into and at the foot of the famous limestone rock-face, the old village streets wind down past the town hall to "the high street" - a wide avenue flanked by plane trees. Here a busy and picturesque market is held every Tuesday. Cotignac has two good bakeries, a fish shop, a butchers, a delicatessen, a small super-market and many other types of shop. Just outside the town is a large supermarket and a bio-shop.

About the host
Hosted by Chez-Provence

Clare and Jeremy Gane run a small UK travel company specialising in safaris and walking holidays in Africa and Asia. They spend several of the winter months in Provence. The other seasons are spent in the UK or travelling.
Why they chose this property
Clare and Jeremy fell in love with this house in Provence after trying many regions of France over the last decade. Whilst being close to the lively village of Cotignac, it remains a quiet and private property and it is located in the heart of Provence.
What makes this property unique
Once the home of Canadian author Timothy Findley, the house has unusually well-developed gardens and the interior is full of charm. Much of Timothy Findley's library remains here as well as his writing desk. We have added a good-sized swimming pool on one of the terraces so as to make this a perfect holiday house for hot summer Provencal days.
