Geoffrey and his party were very pleasant people, they treated Swallow Lodge with respect and left it in a clean & tidy state, we would welcome them back any time, thanks Geoffrey for choosing Swallow Lodge to spend your free time in, best regards David.
Short family break, nice to get away to the countryside. The house was great and only a short distance to a rural village with a pub. Visited other local areas as suggested by the owners.
We have had a lovely 3 night stay with our friends and all the kids. The lodge is spectacular and so close to the villages only a short drive away. The fire was a bonus. Will definately look to stay again.
This is a very nice house in a terrific location , standing alone in secure extensive grounds with fabulous views over the vale. Ideally situated a short drive between Bedale and Masham and only 15 minutes walk up a quiet road to a very nice pub.
Upstairs bedrooms are spacious and en suite. Downstairs twin is pretty tight.
We had a wonderful week despite rather changeable weather.
David is a terrific owner who is almost instantaneous in his response to my several questions

A fascinating property set in a peaceful rural location
This property is located in a peaceful rural setting with access to amenities a short drive away. The property was spacious and comfortable, giving us a good base to explore the wonderful area.
Lovely house and good local amenities.
Not an ideal location if you don't have a car as nearest town is about an hour's walk on roads. Owner was always quick to respond. Would rent again
Well equipped Lodge with plenty of space. There is a pub, The Buck Inn, within walking distance approx 1 mile and is highly recommended. Food good and staff very friendly. Bedale has all the facilities you will need but will need to drive.
We had a fabulous time staying at Swallow Lodge. The lodge is set in a picturesque location with 360 degrees views of the Yorkshire countryside it was truly breathtaking. The lodge was as described though actually seemed larger than the pictures, really impressive, plenty of space. The village of Thornton Watlass was lovely, really friendly and welcoming had an amazing meal in the local pub The Buck Inn on the first night. Loads to see and do will definitely be going back.
We had a lovely time at the Swallow Lodge! It's in a really pretty remote location and there was loads of space for us all. Would recommend you bring a few pots, pans and knives if you plan to cook a lot and also some bottled water as the tap water was a little bit smelly. Otherwise it was ideal.
Overall a good stay. A few niggles with the property which could easily be rectified with a bit of TLC, but nothing that would spoil your holiday. Rural location close to the village
A great trip glad to get away. This cabin is great for a different stay away great views and a very peaceful setting. The cabin is very cozy with underfloor heating down stairs. If you plan to cook a lot bring some extra pots and pans and a sharp knife but other than that a great venue.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness
Not clean
The property was very unclean, cobwebs and dead spiders everywhere, smelt foisty and seemed like no one had been in there for a very long time. Old blood stains on the mattresses and pillow cases seen when stripping off the bedding. Toilet was blocked. The water stunk to the point of not being able to wash with it let alone drink it.
This is lovely accommodation with generously sized rooms, ample bathrooms and well equipped.
Straightforward process to rent and access the house

Didn't hear very much from Beverley so I can only presume her and her party enjoyed all that Swallow Lodge had to offer, the report back from housekeeping was very positive everything was left clean and tidy, I would be more than happy to have Beverley stay at Swallow Lodge any time in the future, thank you for staying Beverley best regards David.

Dawn and her party were such nice people they gained all what Swallow Lodge has to offer, they fused with the whole ambiance of the cabin to maximise their stay, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay, you will be welcome back any time, a jay to have you, best regards David.
Firstly the property was very well maintained and clean. There was no issues and delays in the process of getting the keys of the house and everything went smoothly. The log cabin is located in a beautiful countryside with amazing views and many attractions nearby. Overall the experience was amazing and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is wanting to take a break or team building exercises.

Petrina and her party were wonderful guests, left everything clean and tidy, would have no hesitation in having them back any time, thank you for visiting Swallow Lodge, David.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Swallow Lodge which is surrounded by the stunning Yorkshire countryside. The lodge was very cosy and had all the equipment we needed for a pleasant stay. This was the first holiday with our 6 month old baby and Swallow Lodge lived up to our expectations for a memorable break. Swallow Lodge is in a very convenient location as it is close to a number of villages and towns within a short driving distances. I would highly recommend Swallow Lodge in particular if you have children as there is a big garden surrounding it for them to safely play in. David the owner was also very helpful and was on hand to answer any of our questions which was very reassuring. We will definitely look to use the lodge again in the future.

I'm a very proud Yorkshire man! born & bread in West Yorkshire, I have been a self employed business man since 1981, I presently live in Leeds and visit Swallow Lodge whenever we don't have guests there.
Why they chose this property
Swallow Lodge is a very unique place, there are few if any similar properties in the UK, the design was drawn up from my ideas by a company called "Pioneer Log Homes" in British Columbia, west Canada whom I visited some years ago, the timber used to build the cabin is Western Red Cedar and the logs you see in the photographs were trees growing in a forest in South Wales ten years ago.
What makes this property unique
The unique benefits of Swallow Lodge is that it is thermally insulated because of the timber used, it keeps the warmth in during the winter months and an ambient temperature during the summer, the location is to die for, from the terrace on a clear day you can see the wind turbines in Redcar bay some 47 miles away, the Yorkshire Dales are on your doorstep and from the front door you can see the Yorkshire moors.
