The house is perfectly suited for 2 - 8 guests looking for a change of pace with beautiful scenery, access to great local fishing, challenging golf courses, coastal and highland walking routes, and is conveniently located for pubs and restaurants.
The house was the former village police station and has been renovated, modernised and upgraded in recent years. It is now a cosy and comfortable self-catering holiday house located on Sutherland Street, just one minute from the centre of the village and all its amenities.

We found this an ideal house and garden for 3 couples and a dog. We had a brilliant time exploring the area. Very close to the well stocked spar shop, a fun pub, a great fish and chip shop and lovely local walks. Very helpful host throughout.

Our father came from Helmsdale, so we spent so many family holidays here to visit relatives and enjoy all the area offers. Whether it was walking the dogs along the Helmsdale River, hiking up the hills behind the village, exploring Navidale Bay, picnicking on Loth Beach, or just soaking up the sun by Loch Brora, this place has always been full of holiday memories. Now, even though we’re spread out across the UK, this home is where we come together to reconnect, enjoy the stunning landscapes, and spend quality time with the extended family.
Why they chose this property
This Highland fishing village of Helmsdale were a huge part of our childhood. We spent so much time with both immediate and extended family, keeping a strong connection to the area. These clan gatherings have been going on for over 60 years now! Our house, Valhalla, right in the heart of Helmsdale, has always been the perfect spot for us to get together, relax, and reconnect. It’s big enough for family get-togethers but still feels warm and cosy at the same time

Our house is right in the centre of Helmsdale, with just a short stroll to everything you need. Whether it’s popping to the village main street for provisions, enjoying a meal at the local pubs and cafés, or grabbing a classic fish and chips, everything is on your doorstep. You’ll also find the train station, bus stop, river walks, harbour, playing fields, golf course, and scenic hill walks just a few minutes away. With stunning views over the North Sea and up the Strath, it’s the perfect base to enjoy the best of the Highlands, all within easy reach
