About this property
Holy Island is just 5 minutes away from this superbly equipped cottage.
Seafarer Cottage is not only our holiday home, it's yours too, and it's important to us that you love it as much as we do.
Combining charm and character with comfortable modern living, the cottage is perfect for couples and families alike. We know how important WiFi is, so there's good connectivity throughout the house. Upstairs the two double bedrooms are light and airy, with comfortable double beds and essential but often overlooked touches such as mirrors close to sockets and a hairdryer in each bedroom. There is a TV in the master bedroom. With ample storage and views over to Holy Island, the this bedroom is particularly lovely. There is a good-sized family bathroom, with bath and shower attachment, washbasin, WC and plenty of cupboards.
Downstairs, we particularly love the kitchen diner, and our guests have commented on how much they've enjoyed spending time there. Whether you want to warm up a pizza, make cakes with the kids or cook a roast dinner, we've got everything you need. There's a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washer-dryer, double oven, microwave and Lavazza coffee maker, so we hope you'll feel totally at home. There are ample pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, not forgetting plastic glasses for the little ones. The table seats 6, and there's a 32 inch TV too.
In the spacious hall, you'll find coat hooks and a shoe rack, placed close to the radiator so everything's nice and toasty. Off the hall there's a second bathroom, newly remodelled in February 2024 with a non-slip shower enclosure, basin unit with drawers and WC. The water supply to the shower is hot and powerful, so a good shower is always guaranteed. Next door is the single bedroom, with drawers, shelf and hanging space.
The living room is cosy and comfortable, with two good sized settees, throws for those cooler evenings, nest of tables, 55" Smart TV with HDMI and USB connectivity and a Blu-ray player.
Outside, there is ample parking on the gravel in front of the cottage, with a lot of the garden laid to lawn. There's a sunny paved patio area with a picnic table and a decked area with settee and coffee table for alfresco drinks and meals.
We know how hard it is to go on holiday without your furry friends, so well-behaved dogs are welcome, although please be aware that the garden is not enclosed.
The area is perfect for visiting the myriad historic, natural and cultural wonders of Northumberland, but particularly that most special of places, Holy Island. My late parents lived there, and the cottage is named after dad's boat, Seafarer. We hope that you will enjoy the magic of the Island as we have done over the years.
As we don't live locally, we're unfortunately not in a position to offer welcome packs. However, there will always be handwash, toilet roll, tea, coffee, sugar and dishwasher tablets there when you arrive. The Lindisfarne Inn is just next door, where the food is good, and there is a shop just a couple of minutes away, open until 10 pm. Tesco, Asda, the Co-op and Morrison's are just 10 minutes up the A1 in Berwick.
We hope to welcome you to Seafarer Cottage soon.

About the host
Hosted by Julia Duffy

We're Julia and Mike, and Seafarer Cottage is our holiday home. Our permanent home is on the Isle of Man, where Mike lectures in Engineering and I'm a teacher of languages and Classical Civilisation at a large comprehensive school, but my heart is always in Northumberland.
Why they chose this property
We bought the cottage in 2017, following the death of my parents, who lived on Holy Island. I had a wonderful childhood there, and Mike loves it just as much, so when a cottage this good came on the market so close to the Island, we leapt at the chance to buy it.
What makes this property unique
The lovely warm stonework made us fall in love with the cottage straight away, and the light and airy feel inside was a bonus. It was so important to us to buy a cottage that we, and our guests, really enjoy staying in, and the proximity to Holy Island was the icing on the cake. Seafarer affords the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the island, with the convenience of not being bound by the tide when you want to go elsewhere. And why wouldn't you? Just a few minutes drive away there are more castles than you can shake a stick at, a prehistoric stone circle, cup and ring markings, a steam train, a waterwheel, a heavy horse farm, antique shops, artists' studios and fabulous beaches.
