About this property

The Domaine de Canaille, formerly the Hotel du Revestel, is an exceptional property in Cassis which dates from the 19th century and would have welcomed Virginia Wolf in the 1920s. The complex was completely renovated by its new owners in 2017 (interior, exterior, swimming pool and park). The house is 600 m2 and has 11 bedrooms, almost all with private bathrooms, and a dormitory (for a total of 24 beds). 6 rooms offer magnificent views of the sea and 5 overlook the wooded park and the Charlemagne crown. Note that a supplement of 100E / p is requested beyond 20 people.

The ground floor is devoted to reception rooms, all overlooking the sea: open kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment (+ back kitchen with utility room), dining room, summer lounge and winter lounge with fireplace. On this floor there is also a large bedroom with private bathroom and a cinema lounge.

On the first floor are 7 bedrooms (including 5 with sea views) and a cathedral room serving as a playroom, living room and dormitory, itself opening onto a large north-east facing terrace, isolated from the mistral.

On the 2nd floor is the master suite with a very large bedroom overlooking the sea with a sitting area, an office opening onto a terrace and a very large bathroom opening onto a second terrace.

The decoration is both simple and very warm: lots of wood, linen, sheers ...

The location of the house is exceptional as it is located on a private 60 hectare site, under Cap Canaille, in the Calanques National Park. The house has a huge 500 m2 terrace overlooking the beautiful beach of the arena with turquoise waters, accessible on foot in a few minutes. The property has a large heated swimming pool (13 meters) overlooking the sea, a pétanque court and an orangery with table tennis and table football. The south / south west orientation of the house is ideal because it allows you to have sun until the end of the day and benefit from beautiful sunsets.

The village and charming port of Cassis are less than 15 minutes on foot.

Spectacular experience in Cassis

When describing the experience at Domaine de Canaille, one has to leverage some big gun vocabulary: spectacular, magnificent, stunning, once in a lifetime. When my friends and I arrived to the gigantic patio overlooking the sea and Calanques, I literally felt that I’d been parachuted into a James Bond movie. This is an extraordinary property with a rich history and unmatched view in the South of France. The main house sleeps a large group comfortably and there is an extra annex of suites to accommodate larger parties. We relished the experience of working with local Chef Jeremy for the catering and enjoyed the friendly and accommodating team of staff. There is great access to the beach below (although a hike), and Cassis is an easy 15 minute walk away. The orangery was perfect for morning yoga and games, and there is also a boules court and secluded hammock for napping. The decor is brilliantly designed, modern and elegant but completely comfortable and approachable. Marie was extremely helpful in creating all the arrangements and made great recommendations to ensure a lovely stay for our guests and to suggest activities. Our stay was truly a once in a lifetime experience at this magnificent home.

Lovely domain with exceptional view.

Our family enjoyed our stay. The house is obviously in a jaw dropping position. Dinners on the terrace served by Jeremy the chef were the highlight. A few small things may need tweaking, but generally an exceptional residence and stay.

Unforgettable stay

The views from this villa are breathtaking. The house is just as beautiful as the pictures. Marie is prompt in communications throughout. We loved the meals prepared by Chef Jeremy. Definitely will consider coming back to this lovely place.
