Beautiful property in a quiet rural setting. Surrounded by nature, the stillness and sunsets were highlights. The pool was refreshing on the warmer days and there were sunny spots to sit and relax when the weather was cooler. Overall, enjoyed by the whole family.

A wonderful little property in all seasons
My wife and I, our 13 year old son and 23 year old daughter stayed here at the end of October and into November in 2018.
The house suited our needs perfectly, was well equipped and well located for visiting the area. We walked to Cadouin on one occasion, only 45 mins or so away (down hill on the way there) taking a little longer on the return journey.
There is a very large open fire and covered wood burner, with a plentiful supply of wood, all of which was well used on the cold evenings making the house very cosy.
There is a lovely sized pool if you are there in the summer, but we did not take a dip on this occasion. A neighbour is on hand should you need any help, and the owners were always an email away - A great restful weeks holiday.

Shabby, Poorly Maintained, & Very Dirty.
The location itself was nice enough, far more remote than expected and it took quite a while to get to places. Being in the middle of a forest and surrounded by horses meant that there were huge numbers of flies and horseflies, if windows were opened in the heat, the house filled with flies and mosquitoes.
The house itself was a reasonable size but we were surprised to see that the furnishings were generally quite worn out and that the leather sofa that looked quite nice in the photos was covered in rips.
One of the upstairs bedrooms had just one small window, approximately 20cm x 20cm making it incredibly dark, airless and claustrophobic, the mattress in the downstairs bedroom was completely worn out and would instantly make you roll into the middle of the bed, none of the people sleeping in these rooms got much sleep for the whole week.
On arrival the property appeared to be clean but it quickly became clear that it had not received more than a surface clean, for example chair arms had sticky blobs on them and the island in the kitchen had weeks worth of spilt food underneath.
The dishwasher was broken on arrival and despite it clearly being very old, the owner had blamed the previous occupants for 'not stacking it correctly'. After 3 days of excuses we had to somewhat forcefully requested that it be replaced.
All of the crockery and cutlery was filthy and we had to wash everything before we used it, and when the cleaner eventually changed the dishwasher, she used a mop that had clearly not been washed or disinfected for months and then threw it back in the cupboard dirty and full of germs.
Despite us all eating the same food and doing our best to disinfect the place, it wasn't long before more than half of our party began getting getting stomach upsets and diarrhoea.
Outside there were wooden loungers round the pool, 2 of these were already broken and 2 more were old and worn out and felt like they would break each time you sat on them, despite us all being very slim.
Overall the property gave the impression of a holiday house that had been furnished with second hand furniture by owners based in South Africa, reluctant to spend what is necessary to maintain a holiday rental.
As the cleaner lived next door, we felt uncomfortable mentioning cleaning issues at the time.
Despite paying a substantial amount for cleaning and leaving it cleaner than when we arrived, we were told one week after departure that the house required extra cleaning!!

Response from VrboOwner on 24 March 2020
We were very concerned by your criticisms of Les Belles Granges, since all of our other guests have been more than satisfied with the furnishings, cleanliness, locale and comfort of our much-loved rural retreat, as can be seen by the ratings we have received on the weeks before and after your stay. As your hosts, we felt that we moved mountains for you regarding the unfortunate breakdown of the dishwasher, by replacing it with a brand new one within 48 hours. Our policy is no pets and again, we accommodated you by allowing your cats, which left their fur all over the furniture, requiring more cleaning that is generally required after a guest stay. While we wish sincerely you had enjoyed your stay more, we also feel we did everything in our power to facilitate your requirements and we are so sorry you were disappointed. We really apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced. Thank you for your feedback.

A fabulous property in a fabulous location - thoroughly recommended
This is a great property, beautifully appointed to a very high specification.
The owners are great and very helpful, they provided lots of information "up front" that helped us to decide what to do whilst in the region.

Idyllic setting made for a totally relaxing stay
The property is beautiful inside and out. The location is perfect with beautiful views and the house is very comfortable. The pictures really don’t do it justice! We had a fabulous week relaxing by the pool and exploring the local area. We will definitely be returning if we get the chance.
