About the host

I'm a Texas girl and have lived in the DFW area all of my life. (Okay - we move here from Tennessee when I was 2 - but Texas is my home.) Everything from the crazy weather to the southern hospitality...I don't think there's any place I'd rather be.

I have a passion for the chippy, rusty and shabby to re-purposed and reclaimed. I love to see old things rescued and used in new and unusual ways. I have had antique booths and love to scour flea markets and garage sales for treasures. I sell a little on eBay but working full time, my free time is limited - I hope to one day be able to do something full time in "junktiques".

Why they chose this property

My parents, both growing up in the country, lived in the suburbs for many years while they raised 3 kids. They really wanted a place in the country where they could eventually retire and decided that East Texas was the perfect place for them.

This is where they built their dream home, raised cattle, had the big garden they always wanted and enjoyed the country life while having family and friends visit, relax and enjoy some good home-cooking.

Eventually they built another house on the property for my grandparents and moved them from Tennessee to Texas.

Years go by, family members have passed on, the chores take a little more time to do, but there's something about waking up every morning and looking out over the pasture, the smell of fresh mowed hay, and just enjoying the peace and serenity.

What makes this property unique

Peaceful, private and quiet location. Perfect for stargazing and getting away from the city. This house offers a one car garage and plenty of room to park a trailer if you plan to stock up at First Monday! We also provide 2 portable shopping carts for your use at First Monday.
