Built in 1957, The Hollywood Beach Bungalow is a true Mid-Century California Cottage "beach house". We are one of the last remaining Mid-Century homes in the historic neighborhood of "Hollywood Beach" AKA "Hollywood-By-The-Sea". Hollywood used to film movies on the desolate beaches of the area in the 20's and 30's. Research the fascinating history of the area. Our street is named after Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. The vast and never over-crowded beach has incredible views of The Channel Islands. Small at under 1,100 sq ft, due to the open floor plan and front to back living space, it never feels crowded. Master bedroom has a Queen bed and en suite bathroom with custom 8" french doors which open onto the back patio. Our second main bedroom also has a Queen bed and also has custom french doors to the patio. Bedroom 3 has two single beds and there is a shared bathroom in the hallway between the 2nd and 3rd bedroom. The kitchen, dining area and living space are all open and one and the same. Our charming front dutch door and curb appeal stop passersby in their tracks, as, our neighbors are mostly two story homes built in the 80s and 90s. We have a garage which is where you will find laundry and where we store our bicycles (4), beach towels, Paddle Ball, beach chairs, umbrella, insulated picnic basket and various other beach toys. If you opt not to venture outside, we do have a 60" Smart television, which is great for movies and sports. You can log on to your Netflix, Hulu, YouTube or Amazon Prime. WiFi works well throughout the home and back patio, creating a perfect and quiet workspace. We have hosted creative work retreats and 8 people can easily work around our large communal dining table. Our patio has a BBQ, seating areas and umbrella.
Tucked between the entertainment Mecca of Los Angeles and the flourishing wine country of the Santa Ynez Valley lies one of the best kept secrets along California’s famous coastline.
The coastal neighborhood of Hollywood Beach, once prized by Old Hollywood for its ability to mimic desert locales in silent films, served as a haven from the overwhelming bustle of Tinseltown. As many stars of the Golden Era began to vacation and build summer homes here and the neighboring stretches of Silver Strand, the area took on the aptly titled nickname “Hollywood-by-the-Sea”. It was the ideal spot that felt worlds apart from the city, while only being a short distance from LA by car. Thankfully, this secret spot still retains much of the solace and secluded charm that made it a haven nearly a century ago. Though silver screen royalty like Charlie Chaplin and Clark
Gable no longer walk the paths lining the sand, it’s not uncommon to find movies filming nearby, or to spot the occasional A-lister dwelling peacefully away from the paparazzi
laden stretches of nearby Malibu. For all the pomp and circumstance that precedes the SoCal reputation, you’ll find that at its core, Hollywood Beach is a laid-back community
with a rich history that stands as one of California‘s most understated coastal gems. Our location also happens to be an ideal hub for many of the best day trips in the SoCal
area. You’re as close to hundreds of Santa Ynez wineries as you are to LA’s entertainment capital, Universal Studios. If nature is more your thing, a quick drive north will set you in the quaint town of Ojai, right outside the Los Padres National Forest. Or you could simply step out the door and charter a local ferry to explore the Channel Islands located just off
the coast.
As tourism booms throughout southern California, travelers are striving to find places that can lead to genuine experiences, areas where they can feel like locals instead of tourists,
or sometimes just a place of tranquil respite to get some honest, meaningful work done. We can’t take your trip for you, but we certainly aim to provide the best accommodations
for your visit so you can go and find that experience for yourself.

About the host
Hosted by Paul Pontius
Hi! I’m Joanie. I’ve been a professional photographer and involved in the creative industry in Los Angeles and beyond for 25+ years. Several years ago, I bought a vacation rental home of my own and have been a fellow Superhost since. A few homeowners found me over the years and asked for my help in managing their vacation rental homes, since they were too busy with careers and/or with young families and for various other reasons. I have since founded RELX [rə·laks], which is a fine boutique vacation rental home + guest management company and my team and I have surpassed over 1,000 5-Star reviews combined and counting. I love our community and pride myself on providing exceptional hospitality and experiences to our guests in homes that stand above. We look forward to welcoming you. @relxvacations
