About this property

INSIDE YOSEMITE! 10 Minutes From Yosemite Valley. Summer and fall openings!

Ten minutes from Yosemite Valley and conveniently located on the paved road, this one bedroom cabin in Foresta offers complete relaxation in a quiet setting. The full kitchen includes all modern appliances (excepting dishwasher) and comes equipped with dining area, coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans & dishes. Or use the propane BBQ while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Eat on the screened porch, safe from pesky bugs, or relax on the couch. The modern bathroom features a walk-in shower and stacked washer/dryer. The bedroom has a comfortable King bed, closet and supplemental electric stove. Equipped with romantic flame gas insert and A/C. Explore the quiet surroundings, stroll to Crane Creek moments away, then rest under the shady oaks and pines. (See also our sister listing #726304, Shady Grove Cabin for additional two person accommodation.)
Foresta is a great starting point to various Yosemite destinations, Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, the Merced & Tuolumne Groves of Sequoias and many hiking trails. Offering Free satellite TV, WIFI and HughesNet Gen4 internet, Verizon's 4G network is also available.

Foresta is located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Now known as an “inholding”, Foresta (Big Meadow) started as a pioneering area. Two ranches (McCauley and Meyers) provided beef, pork, dairy and vegetables to the Yosemite Valley hotels. In the twenties, it was sub-divided and given the name of Foresta. Created as an “artistic” community, musical gatherings were held by the creek. After the Great Depression, many lots were sold for back taxes. Approximately 75 homes were in use, either full time or seasonally, before the 1993 A-Rock fire destroyed most of them. More than half of the homes have now been rebuilt. Fire has been a defining force in this area, showcasing Mother Nature's endless cycles.

Great location in Yosemite!

This was a great cabin. Very close to Yosemite Valley, very clean and comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was nice. The owner always answered me very quickly. It was so quiet and peaceful in the wooded area. I would recommend anyone going to Yosemite to stay here! It was such a pleasant experience.

Very nice cabin!

This is a very nice cabin in an out of the way spot INSIDE Yosemite National Park. Nice modern full kitchen. Easy access to the valley (15-20 minutes).

Comfortable and Close to the Valley.

The cabin is only a few minutes away from the valley floor and a nice retreat from a long day of hiking. Kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and even a few spices/condiments. Very happy with my stay here and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nearby retreat after sightseeing.

Sweet Rustic Updated Yosemite Getaway

This is the perfect location for visiting Yosemite. It is inside the park, yet away from the "crowds. Very close to the valley. It offers a full beautiful updated kitchen and bathroom with washer and dryer! Comfortable bed and sweet screened in porch. We will definitely book again. Owners are very accessible, but not intrusive. A great stay!

Great place to stay in Yosemite

We loved our stay. It was a comfortable to come back to after exploring the park. The kitchen was well stocked. We used the cast iron skillet every night and ate on the screened in porch. Buy groceries before entering the park though the Village store seemed to have a lot. There are coolers to use. Be sure to walk down the road and onto the Foresta trail. Going past the small waterfall provides a nice view. Definitely a great place to stay.

Scenic and quiet location at Yosemite

We liked being located in a scenic and quiet location far away from the large crowds surrounding Yosemite Village. However, it does take 20 minutes driving time from the cabin to get to Yosemite Village and some major attractions of the park. The kitchen of the cabin has been updated where it is brightly lit and well equipped for making meals throughout your stay. The only convenience it doesn't have is a dishwasher. We appreciated being provided ample supplies of toilet tissue, paper towels, dish detergent, and hand soap for our week long stay so we didn't have to replenish anything. The bathroom was ample in size and had a good shower that offered ample warm water. The owner provided ample cabinet space for renters to put their items in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. The screened in porch was a nice and relaxing place to have dinner and also be protected from the mosquitoes. There is a rental home and private home located on both sides of the cabin, but we weren't bothered by the activity or noise level at either location. We really enjoyed the peaceful and pleasant experience we had renting this cabin and can recommend staying here if your prefer being located away from the large crowds.

Great Location For Us

Close to Yosemite Valley and Tioga Road. Comfy couch and bed. Nice working kitchen. Loved the screened in porch. There is room to unpack and put away your stuff in both bedroom and bathroom so you don't have to live out of your suitcase if you don't want to. Directions to the cabin were great. Cell service is spotty in the Park so print or screen shot your directions. Owners answered all of my questions quickly. WiFi is not super robust at the cabin, but who cares. Just wanted to watch a movie after a long hike and it was good enough for that. AC will likely have trouble in the hotter months. Not an issue for me, but my hubby had trouble getting to sleep 2 out of our 5 nights there. I will likely be back to Yosemite at least one more time to finish our wish list of hikes. I would stay here again if it is available. Teresa

We enjoyed our time in Yosemite and the proximity to the valley in this cabin. This cabin is extremely rustic and definitely off the beaten path and you feel very isolated. The cabin had ample space and amenities for us, loved having a washer and dryer! Just want to mention, the house needs a deep clean, corners, baseboards and floors were kinda gross. Pillows extremely flat. Also, shower faucet had wonderful pressure, but was full of calcium or limescale. Overall, enjoyed our stay, but probably too rustic for us to make a return visit.

Good Location

The positive-it was in a good location. We were on a very long vacation. We booked 17 different places between VRBO and Hotels.com. We were so excited to have found this place. I understand this is a cabin and there will be some dirt, but this place charges the highest cleaning fee of all our stays and by far the dirtiest! With both of us cleaning, we spent 2 hrs before we could unpack. The unlocked lockbox was just hanging with key in. We went to the kitchen to unload our coolers. The fridge was so full of old crusty food. The stove was not cleaned. It had grease and old dried up food on it. Floors, counter, bathroom all very dirty. I opened the silverware drawer-lots of old food dried in the drawer! We decided to not touch, use or clean that drawer. We used our limited silverware we brought. We rewashed all towels they smelled like rubber. We assumed they were washed with the bathroom rug. Small Air Cond in living room. Bedroom ceiling fan went tick tick all night. After all this we had a power outage for 13 hours. Contacted owner they suggested we do what we need to do before night fall and use the ice chest in closet-NOT ENOUGH ICE in freezer. We didn't open frig or freezer hoping it would stay cold. When power came back on the temp was 60 in the frig. We lost many items. The owner should have brought us ice at least, maybe a better flashlight would have been nice.

Super Comfortable Cabin

Great place for 2! Well-stocked, clean kitchen. Comfortable and spacious (very remote) environment. 10 min to Yosemite Valley is a STRETCH however - plan on 30-35. Multiple drives back and forth beautiful though. Check-in process a bit bumpy with poor cell reception to reach owner/Wi-Fi login unclear. Owner was very responsive however.

You can’t beat the proximity to Yosemite!

This place really does check off everything you need. The kitchen was stocked with salt, pepper, olive oil, and a few other things that made cooking easy. As well as all the coffee you needed. It was a bit dark and stuffy. But the owners worked with us to fix the fans. They could actually use an updated floor fan. That one’s on its last leg.Again, I think it’s a fine place, some of the rugs could probably use replacing and the bed could be updated. But beds are so weird some people like soft some people like them hard. This is very hard. But I did sleep OK on it.I really do think just a few updates would make this place a five instead of a four star. Mainly either get new rugs or get rid of the rugs completely.

Great cabin

We enjoyed staying in this cabin within Yosemite. It was quiet, private, clean, and had everything we needed. Being inside the park made it very easy and convenient to drive to all the sites we wanted to see. My recommendations to make the bedroom more comfortable for guests would be to eventually get a more comfortable bed and to have a fan in the bedroom. There is a ceiling fan but the overhead light wouldn’t turn off while the fan stayed on. Thank you for the great stay!
