We desire peace and quiet when we vacation and it doesn’t get any better than here. The host are just great. We cannot say enough about how wonderful Pleasant Valley Inn is!
Great hosts, wonderful house and setting! Even had our own trail guide for our walks, thank you Graham! It is so peaceful and comfortable, will be staying again! It is secluded in the surrounding mountains!
A beautiful property in a beautiful part of the state! So relaxing and peaceful. Wonderful hosts and a clean, comfortable guest house with everything we needed to feel right at home. We feel blessed to have discovered this gem and hope to be able to come again!
What an absolute blessing this place was! The owners, Jim and Rori, are extremely nice people and very gracious hosts. We loved the remote and very peaceful location. The BNB was clean, organized and very well maintained. You can tell a lot of care and thought went into the building of their place. We definitely plan on going back. I highly recommend this BNB.

Thank you for the lovely review! We're tickled you enjoyed your stay.
You left the place so tidy and we appreciate it.
I hope to see you up this way again.
Beautiful setting and so peaceful and quiet. The cottage had all the amenities and we enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove. A nice time visiting with Jim, Rori and their dogs, Spencer and Graham. We will definitely be back to visit. Thanks again!
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at this property. The property was clean and very well-kept. The descriptions are understated - the views, scenery, and wildlife were incredible. The hosts (Jim and Rory) were very communicative, welcoming, kind and hospitable. We found ourselves hanging out with the hosts and never wanting to leave the property! Our best VRBO experience to date.

Thanks for the kind words, Brett.
These guys were great guests - communicative, tidy and lots of fun to talk with.
They're welcome back anytime they find themselves in Rice. :)
We would 100% stay again with Jim and Rori. Their property is idyllic, relaxing and peaceful. My toddlers enjoyed getting to know all of the super friendly animals. The farm fresh eggs were icing on the cake ;)
My family and I loved this remote getaway on a beautiful ranch in the mountains. Our hosts Jim and Rori were exceedingly kind and friendly. The house was spotless, kitchen stocked, beds were comfortable. Being around the goats, sheep, chickens and dogs was fun for my daughter especially. Hiking trails with marvelous views.
The property is by far the nicest one my wife and I have stayed at - and we’ve stayed at many. The property has beautiful furniture, the owners are excellent hosts, the views and outdoor seating are amazing, and the animals are fun. We plan on returning next year.

Wonderful restorative stay in a beautiful environment
Waxing lyrical a bit here, but this was the best vacation rental experience ever. The accomodations were impeccable, artistic, and well appointed, the hosts were gracious and close enough if you needed them and distant enough if you didn't, and the quiet, big sky, autumn foliage, and general ambience were much needed. Our "tour guide" Graham, the friendly dog who became our companion, was delightful as we roamed the grounds. You won't find anything better than this if you are looking for a healthy retreat. And we had a ton of fun, too. Did I mention sweet farm animals?
This was, by far, me and my wife’s favorite place we have stayed in Washington. The house and surrounding area are absolutely beautiful, the property owners are some of the nicest and most accommodating hosts we have ever met, the animals were a joy to interact with, and it was very quiet and private. I have nothing but good things to say about our time spent here and we are already looking forward to coming back again in the future.
If you’re looking to get away and have some peace and quiet, this is most definitely an outstanding option.
Thank you Jim and Rori, you guys are awesome people!
We didn't actually stay around the property much, but that's because we were with friends that were local. The building was in great shape and nicely decorated. The grounds were pretty with the fall colors and then with the dusting of snow.
Normally we take our trailer when we visit this area but we were glad to book this VBRO this time due to the early snow. I would book it again.
I would recommend bringing slippers as the tile floor was cold even with my fuzzy soks.
This place is beautifully located with a view of the distant mountains, far off and orchards, sheep and goats nearby. Charming inside and out! Rori was communicative, gracious and treated us to sheep milk and banana bread! The home is furnished with beautiful hand-made tables and chairs built on site. It is a long way to anything, but the drive is lovely and off the beaten path. It is so nice to see this slice of American life! We are now back home to traffic!
We had a peaceful and relaxing 3 days on the farm, enjoyed the very pleasant, personable and accommodating hosts Jim and Rori. Graham (what a dog) was the ultimate companion host, he loves going for walks. Learned a little bit about goats and the sheep. We sat on the West porch and watched the beautiful sunsets, the cows and all the different color of leaves on the trees. Very impressed with Jim’s fine wood working which is evident throughout the house.
This property located in the Northeastern corner of Washington state is ultra-quiet, beautiful and serene. Jim and Rori are the best of hosts. Over the past forty years, we have stayed in many, many rural vacation rentals and can say that this wonderful guest house is exactly as represented and will delight you beyond expectations. Warmed by a fine wood stove, surrounded by original art including beautiful hardwood furniture built by Jim, a welcoming bottle of wine, farm-fresh eggs and apples brought to us by Rori, mowed trails throughout the hundreds of acres, and the sweet wonder dog, Graham. Well I could go on...On a scale of one to ten this place scored a solid 100.
We can’t express how thankful we are to Rori and Jim! They allowed us to have our wedding, it was a dream! We want to come back and spend time our anniversary here!
My wife and wife and I were thrilled by this beautiful and quiet ranch guest house, and especially the beautiful custom-made furniture. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and gracious, making us feel very much at home. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. Highly recommended!
We had the most perfect stay at the Pleasant Valley Inn. Jim and Rori were the perfect hosts - so friendly and they had everything ready to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The guesthouse is perfectly clean, comfortable and well appointed. And the animals!!! What a delight they all were. Graham stole my heart upon arrival; he'll steals yours too. The peace and tranquility were just what we needed.
We plan to return - how can we not?
Rice, WA is a household name in our family! With two young boys living in the city, we count on Rori & Jim’s hospitality each year to decompress.
We love everything about this farm - goats, milking goats, drinking goat milk, collecting chicken eggs and cooking them, long walks accompanied by Graham - the best dog ever, tractors, orchards, digging up vegetables and inventing new ways to cook them, rolling in the dirt and showering via the fire truck hose, BBQ dinners, gazing at the night sky, and the super hosts.
We’ll be back for a fourth trip for sure!
Magical Getaway / Adventure of a lifetime / Breathe in the Nature
This was an amazing retreat and perfect for us. Driving from Seattle we took our time and stopped at so many beautiful lakes along the way. We were greeted by the most wonderful hosts and their chill, Magical farm environment. We spent our days relaxing, walking, swimming in Lake Roosevelt, driving to town, kayaking, writing, and being treated to the most gorgeous sunset views. The house was thoughtfully outfitted with everything it needed and nothing it didn't. Perfect!
We would 100% recommend this place to friends and family!
Such great memories and beautiful moments.
This adorable farmhouse escape was a perfect way to end our honeymoon road-trip. Between the breath taking views, homey environment, the sweet owners who are very welcoming, and our personal tour guide Graham (one of their dogs), made our trip worth while and excited to return one day.

About the host
Hosted by Jim & Rori Draper
I am a retired Chemist-Programmer, now mostly doing professional wood-working and projects around our Ranch with my wife. Rori likes to quilt, reads pretty much a book a day, and has kept goats for over 25 years. Together, we enjoy dancing (swing & country) and travel, especially to Mexico and other Latin American countries. We relocated to Rice Washington after 25 years in Alaska, also having had a small farm up there. I am also an EMT and Firefighter in our local Volunteer Fire Department , doing both fire and EMS calls in our district. Rori is also active in various other Volunteer organizations around our small community. We enjoy meeting new people and cooking for our neighbors.
Why they chose this property
After spending 25 years on a remote farm in Alaska, we were looking for a similiar experience, but with a full 4 seasons. This location has way fulfilled all of our expectations and then some. We enjoy a long, warm spring and fall, mild winters, and real summers. And best of all, things like to GROW here: ornamental trees, fruit trees, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, berries, hayfields, etc. We are also blessed with an abundance of wildlife, right out our windows, commonly including deer, elk, bears, cougars, eagles, and myriads of other birds, both seasonal and regulars.
What makes this property unique
Privacy, but not too remote was also one of our requirements and that has worked well for us here. We are still about 20 miles from Colville (Stevens County Seat), which has most all of the services we require, but still only about 1.5 hours from Spokane with a major airport, endless shopping and world-class medical care.
